    charlie

Yeh nothing much wrong with Simons apart from the dreaded road works and therefore dust.ohmy.gif

  2. I think the OP was a short-term visitor, but for people who are resident in Thailand, the AIS 3G service would take care of this shortcoming. You stick a little dongle into a USB port on the side of your computer and you're good-to-go! I see people using them all over CM. I think they have good coverage elsewhere in Thailand, too.

However, I agree that wifi would be a nice upgrade for Butter is Better.

Beg to differ. I look at Butter is better as a restaurant not as a coffee shop.

I know it is me but I see a restaurant as a place to eat and a Coffee shop a a place to hang out.

Butter is better really does not have the room for people to come in and do all there internet work there.

    Just My Opinion.

Absolutely!! Totally agree. Can't think of a much worse downgrade to places like B+B and "Bake and Bite" than allowing solitary technophobes to sit for hours peering into screens, littering the tables with their junk and one empty cup of coffee while hogging some of the more pleasantly placed tables. Almost as bad as answering your mobile phone while eating dinner with guests.

    correct

  4. For delivery Pizza try Nick the Pizza- no online ordering but has menu online. Free delivery till 5 am which is great for late arrivals, they also have western menu which is limited but delicious.

PIzza's are Thin and Crispy only..yumee

One of the absolutely WORST pizzas I have ever had in ANY country!

    totaly agree very bad

  5. No race/ethnic groups with attitude issues...except down in the southern provinces and that is more fanatical religion than anything else

Really? I always heard that there was extreme racism here, with Thais being racist toward certain races (blacks) & certain nationalities (Indian, Burmese to name a couple).

i hear the same as well

  6. isn't moving away a bit drastic?

why not avoid the stuff that annoys you? cos in Philipines it probably wont get any better. We're never be fully at home around here, there will be 'I've had it' moments every day, unless you dont go out at all.

every time you have the bad experience, repeat to yourself : 'I am here only becaus the climate is nicer than in Europe' Then you'd be OK.

edit: climate is nicer some of the time

    totaly agree

  7. I thought all the Donner Kebab places in England were Greek not Turkish?

Anyway to make sure you get the authentic taste of an English Donner it needs to be eaten at 2am in the morning when you're on the way home from a club completely p1ssed after drinking 10 pints of lager.

    correct

  8. I personally think that apart from accommodation (which is grossly overpriced both in Pattaya and in Thailand in general)

Accomodation overpriced in Thailand, are you serious?

Learn how to read and speak Thai, stay away shyster estate agents and you will find Thailand a bargain for accomdation.

    correct

  9. I am still adding to my retirement back "home", and paying back into my retirement accounts what I spent in my first few years living in Thailand. My income from working here more than covers my expenses here. Rental properties back in the US do the rest. Who knows I may retire again when I hit 50, but by then I should have the sustainable income here in Thailand to far more than qualify for retirement ;)

I know people that burnt their bridges when they left "home" and they are suffering. Invested too much in Thailand, aren't getting as many Baht:Dollar (euro/pound whatever) ... I have a friend that moved from a 4 BR house with a pool on the edge of BKK into a 2 BR old condo and is now looking for work in his 60's, and he has no exit plan at all.

His life went from FUN to SAD in a heartbeat.

2 rules --- 1) ALWAYS have an exit plan and 2) Never dip into the exit plan $

Many people don't have an 'exit plan' in their home countries either.

It's not much fun being poor no matter where you live.

I could be living in a bedsit in the UK, claiming social, not having enough money to eat well or heat the place, on my own.

    or

I could be living in a condo in Thailand, feeling warm, living with a girl half my age, eating plenty of Thai food.

If you have to be poor, far more fun being poor in Thailand!

    totaly agree

  10. I would also recommend Max - good value and the pasta was spot on. Also, there is a very small resturant just off soi buakaow, near the Essex Arms and bowling club. I went a few weeks ago, the food was good, the wine very cheap but very drinkable. The place itself is very basic but it had a good atmosphere - they stick some long tables outside at night which were full of Italians - always a good sign.

yeah been this place a few timew allways busy and me and the wife always enjoy
