^I'm so sorry I didn't realize you were making a joke. How silly of me and I thought you were offering serious advice....my bad,
Maybe this forum needs a joke and humor section.

Check out Tri Trang beach resort, only 5 minutes out of Patong, on the beach good restaurant and very quiet.
If you want to meet ladies and not hit lady bars Patong offers something fairly unique. The absolute plethora of massage shops. You will meet the ladies who can't handle the bar scene here.
A good place to start is bali hai massage clean and a cut above the other places.

Another word of advice for tourists: If you decide to become an expat please refrain from unsolicited pontificating your "astonishing" knowledge of Thailand on public internet forums Because even after being here 20+ years you won't have a clue.

Not sure why, but I suddenly have a serious craving for Korean food.
Yes I heard there was some illness going around.
Seriously Korean cuisine has to one of the worst cuisines of the world.
But if you insist there is a passable Korean place on 200 pee rd in Patong, near soi Kepsak next to the Bali Hai massage.

I just finished up a two week stint at Wat Thamkrabok.
I'm happy I ran into this thread which jogged me into getting a grip on my life and stop drinking and drugging.
The monastery is a great place for it. Highly recommended for those serious about making a life change.
I guess I'll have to change my nickname now.
Thanks Garro.

Thai ripped off by farang....excellent.
It's possible, there are plenty of scummy farang in the world. It's just not too likely.

^Yes I have a Thai friend who works for one of a large dive company in Kata and he/she speaks english better than many of the tourists who come here. The Thai people I've met who work administration and as instructors are very well educated, well spoken and come from good families.

As a relatively new visitor to Phuket, what is the best thing to do when confronted by a cobra - scream/shout/make noise or walk away quietly.... or are they really not interested in humans? (We don't have dogs.)
It will be more afraid of you, give it plenty of room and it will go away.
Also, how do you know if the snake is dangerous or not? Any links on this site to types of snakes in Phuket?Thailand has an awful lot of venomous snakes. Generally if it's not a constrictor it's likely to be venomous.

racism??
Since when is a religion a race of people?
It is highly offensive to glibly imply racism.
If you want to preach tolerance you must be tolerant of other peoples views.
You are tolerant of other peoples views as long as they are the same as yours.
There is a word for that. But I wont be drawn into name calling!
In case you haven't been keeping up with the news for the past 3 decades it is Islam that is awash with intolerance, fanaticism, and murderous vengeance.
Best stick to talking about your dive shop and refrain from speaking about something you haven't a clue!

It's bad when a hangover last more than a day? Going on two. I believe a drink will clear this up now.
-
I remember past years talk about Indonesia, but it occurred to me that's nearly 2000 kms away.
I don't smell any smoke either.
-
It's very smoky out there.
Where's the smoke coming from?
Or do I just have a bad hangover!

A lot depends on tyre size, gearing and load.
If you need to slip the clutch very much to get going in 2nd you should be using 1st gear.
Properly driven a clutch will last 300K+ km. A poorly driven clutch might not make 60K.
The test would be if you can let the clutch out in at an idle without stalling the engine.
IME it's better to use 1st to get going and "short shift" if you're on a flat road or going down hill.

If VT6 cannot be completed because it is not 200 meters from the shoreline will VT return your money with interest? What interest is VT paying?
Is any work going on at VT6, VT7 and VT8? If not it would seem there must be a problem determining what the legal definition of 'shoreline' is in Thailand.
What are you talking about???
VT6 is almost finished. The shell has been finished for months now.
Completion date is now November, not December.

Well done.
For a negative comment: I went in when the first one opened (how many yrs ago??); selected a coupla thousand baht worth of books, and asked for a discount. The proprietor (UG??) said he don't negotiate. I left the books there and aint been back. Has the policy changed?
^I can never understand people who want service, and selection yet begrudge someone making an honest living.
I find Gecko books offers a very good selection at reasonable prices.
News flash if they didn't make a profit they would not be in business.

There's more than enough dipsticks out there that think this knob is a hero that he'll probably sell quite a few copies. Hope he didn't use too many big words for that lot.
well if it comes my way, ill read it, or some of it, then make my mind up!
OMG! That is classic! To quote cdnvics post, being disparaging of those that will read that book & then to say you will... Hilarious!
You were aiming for irony - right?
I see we have a plethora of erudite scholars here.

^And florida isn't very close to Thailand! Not remotely mountainous and is forking cold in the winter!

Diesel costs 28 baht a liter.
If it gets 10km per liter it will consume 280 baht for 100 kms.
