52% brainwashed by UK propaganda machine vs. 48% brave highlanders. Elections is a fake grab your axes and spikes show new Stirling bridge to the occupants!
I wonder what if it happened opposite and UK used SiS to arrest a bunch of Scotland leaders.
I think your response is somewhat emotionally grounded.
52% (or more) Scots have researched what Scotland would become as an independent state; the other 48% have accepted what Alex Salmond has told them, which isn't a lot...!!

Freedom to Scotland!
The Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish are already free; did you think they were caged up to ensure their compliance within the Union? This is not about freedom, it's about Alex Salmond's political career, which, I will wager, is about to come crashing down...!!

I will NEVER put anything on anyone's cloud.
An external hard drive costs around $100 for 2 TB. It is a one-time cost - not monthly or annually.
Learn to use any free backup software (I use EaseUS ToDo Backup - free version) and you'll never lose data.
FYI: I have 18 external drives in use and 16 more that are backups of those external drives. Plus one that is dedicated to backups of online drives - every few months I do a complete clone of my 'C' drive and well as backing up individual files as needed.
Exactly the point I was going to make before seeing your comment.
The recent disclosure of the private information/photographs of high profile stars having been compromised is sufficient to let everyone know that cloud storage is not secure...!
My storage comprises only of written works, so it will take me quite some time to fill a 2TB hard drive, but when it is full I will simply buy another, and since I only attach the hard drive to my computer when transferring documents, even the best hackers cannot access my files.

Those back in the public eye include red-shirt leader Natthawut Saikua and party spokesman ... Prompong Nopparit...!
How the &*%@ is this guy still walking free? His sentence was custodial and non-suspended...!!

However they are still in deep denial over any wrong doing in 2010 in spite of the increasing proof.
Thanawut Wichaidit, spokesman for the red-shirt United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship, said the red shirts were confident there were no "men in black" among their protesters during the unrest of 2010.
"We fight peacefully, and the red shirts had nothing to do" with the violent attack, he said.
I thought that yesterday the MIB had confessed to attacking the redshirts and the military?
...No, they confessed to attacking civilians and the military.

...the irony of it....! The Russian Foreign Ministry said "any such action, without the backing of the UN Security Council, would be "an act of aggression" and a "gross violation" of international law".

Gen. Prayuth is a man of action, Thaksin is a man of promises, all broken. I personally believe that those who continue to suggest that the Shin popularity will never fade are fooling themselves. Many independent polls have indicated that Prayuth's popularity is growing day by day; that therefore suggests that the support of the people has to shift from elsewhere, in this case, it can only be the Shin family.
I believe, and truly hope, that the people of Thailand who they threw their support behind Thaksin and his bunch of thieves have now seen through the selfish, corrupt practices (failed populist policies) that they stood for (and will always stand for) and instead, throw their support behind the rising tide of anti-corruption, thereby ensuring that Thaksin, and all others like him, will be kept out of politics in the future.

More "inactive posts" as a penalty for corruption, which I'm sure was a real deterrent . . .
I prefer to look at these inactive posts as holding cells for the suspects until sufficient evidence is collected to prosecute...!

Deserve it
Nonsense. The death penalty is always wrong.
If you are well advised in advance that to engage in drug peddling in China is punishable by the death penalty, and you then go ahead and do it anyway, what other outcome can you expect...?! That's tantamount to saying to the Chinese authorities "Oh yeah, well let's see you try it..."!

waiting for Fab4 to chime in any minute now...lol
I have no doubt he will have been hovering over his keyboard for several hours, but simply can't think of any convincing spin to put on this one....!!

The CIA tortured Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the September 11 attacks, that killed and maimed thousands of innocent people. What a shame.
You're not supposed to feel sorry for him, but for a system that once aspired to humane practices that now appears to have degenerated to the point where torture is a normal and acceptable (at least to security authorities) procedure.
Perhaps that's one of the problems today. We're too easy on those who harm others??? I'm no advocate of violence, but these guys had done some absolutely horrible things. Hard to believe anybody has compassion for them. Compassion should be directed towards the thousands who lost their lives due to them, and the 10's of thousands who lives were changed forever due to this.
We're not just talking about the ones they were "sure" had carried out these monstrous attacks against innocent civilians...! What about those who were "suspected" of being involved at different levels?
At what point do the interrogators start to discuss their doubts as to whether some guy - who has just been put through eight consecutive days of barbaric torture - may not actually have anything to say, because they have the wrong guy?
You cannot "untorture" someone whose live you have made a misery for so long ... all you will do is ensure that there is now one more terrorist to contend with after he has been released, because I'm damn sure if he wasn't a terrorist before, he would be afterwards...!

And these people say they are going to clean up corruption. New people in government but the same song is playing
The people you are referring to are responsible for making the crucial decisions at the top, they don't get involved with the procurement process, so don't you think it may be a bit premature to start accusing the military of corruption?
The correct response has been made as they have stated that they are going to investigate the matter, and if some civil servant(s) is/are found to be lining their nest, then no doubt they will come to regret it...!
Unlike the very expensive clock saga that was swept under the carpet by the PTP government, eh...?! Where was the pontificating PTP lawyer on that occasion?

Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik said that Thailand:
"has long been a popular destination for retirees, thanks to advantageous exchange rates that ensure pensions and savings have always gone a lot further here than in more expensive nations".
Really....?!
well I'm pretty sure I recall getting 76 baht to the Pound when I came here 11 years ago, but now it's 52:1. Has someone been ripping me off all these years...?!
Let's also not forget that it went as low as 45:1 at one point...!

Isn't it now time to deal with this issue once and for all?
As opposed to throwing large sums of money at the problem, which then simply disappears, or is frittered away on projects such as boats pushing the water out to sea (!!!), Thailand should seriously consider calling in experts from countries that have had to deal with major flooding problems, such as the Netherlands.
Surely anyone can see that if a full-scale flood prevention program is not put into place, these headlines will simply be repeated year after year...!!

The suggestion is that we must provide a copy of the 'Arrival Card', both front and back, but that portion of the card is removed when we come into Thailand, so we do not have access to it.
The only portion that we retain in our passports is the 'Departure Card', which is blank on the reverse.

Are there still dreamers out there who belive in "Secure Data Storage?" "The Cloud" - the ultimate dream of all intelligence services in the world, and the people present all their personal information to them, voluntarily, and in masses...
Not me. Never have and never will.
A 3 terabyte external hard drive costs between THB 2,000 and THB 2,500 and that's more than enough space to keep all my files secure.
What's more, for most of the time, my external hard drive is not even hooked up to my computer (only when I'm copying items to it) so the vast majority of my files are not even accessible to potential hackers.
What baffles me is why anyone would put their more intimate stuff on a Cloud...?!

This guy almost got reelected this year. The Patong voting base is very small and he's been manipulating those people for years and years. He had to have been paying off people to stay in power, all the Phuket politicians above him. More to come on this story and where all his money is.
... more to the point, interested to know where he and sons are...I'm guessing it's not Thailand...!!

Soi 11 is worst than any place in BKK. I volunteer to be one of the UNDERCOVER FOREIGN OPERATIVES as I am sure every member of TVF would also. Let us help fix all the broken parts. We live here and could be of so much help.
I would wager that the worst place of all is Silom, and yet it gets no mention here...!

...what reason would the authorities have to change the terms of a retirement extension?
Retirees are, generally, a trouble-free group of people who simply spend money on their choice of pursuits, in my case, golf. I bring sufficient funds in from the UK each year to meet the requirements (which, as we know, are about ten times the average expenditure of mainstream Thais) and always do the 90-day report on time.
If anything, the authorities might decide to look at us as a valuable group and decide to drop the need for the 90-day reporting, given that we still have to go through the hoops of renewal each year.
To make any negative changes to a very substantial source of spending in Thailand would be tantamount to economic suicide on the part of the authorities.

What do the Americans need special security considerations for?
They've set themselves up as the ''worlds police force'' thus they should be able to contain any threats real or imaginary.
Could they be one of the most disliked races nowadays and therefore under threat at times?
Americans are not a race. In fact, America has one of the most diverse racial profiles of any country. America has whites, blacks, asians, etc.
...and cops who don't hesitate one second to beat the sh1t out of any of them ... and then spray them with noxious chemicals...!!

How does one of the busiest stations not warrant those fancy advertising / safety doors meanwhile less busy stations have them already?
Unfortunately, there are many occasions at stations, like Siam, where the doors remain open at all times; okay so there is still a substantial barrier to prevent people from falling, but there are holes in it every few yards...!!

Personally, I think it is anywhere but Thailand. Which is where I plan to be for Songktran 2015... anywhere but Thailand.
