Hi, Anyone transfer money from US to Thailand? Which is a good bank or company to do the transfer with good rate and less fee?
Thank you.

Hi, just to let you know that I just got my retirement extensions(visa!) this morning. No Covid insurance asked. Just the regular items on the immigration requirement lists. It took less than an hour and I got the stamp good tills October 2021. Thank you for all helps ????

There is no requirement to have covid 19 insurance to apply for extensions of stay. It is only required to apply for a certificate of entry at a embassy or consulate.
Perhaps confusion with the insurance requirement when applying for extension of stay based upon retirement of a entry done with a OA visa.
Hi, is this retirement extensions is for 1year or 3 months? And if apply as marriage extensions visa will be 1 year or 3 months visa?

@playboy > You wrote I entered Thailand with 1 year marriage visa multiple entries from US and visa was expired on April.
When you entered on a 1-year Multiple Entry Non Imm O Visa for reason of marriage, why don't you apply for the 1-year extension based on that Non Imm O Visa for reason of marriage? The financial requirements for such 1-year extension for reason of marriage are lower than when applying for reason of retirement.
I was first going to do that but the process of certify documents, translations and stamping, going to Amphoe, get 2 withnesses and then kor ror 22 and to immigration with witnesses again. It's doable but retirement extension is more peaceable. And when every things reopen normally next year(hopefully) I can get marriage visa at US consulate in US with my regular marriage certificate.

You do not need Covid insurance or any other kind of insurance for your application of extension of stay for the reason of retirement (retirement extension)
Thank you.????

You are already in Thailand so there is definitely no need for covid-19 insurance irrespective of which Visa/Extension you will be applying for.
The only case in which IO would require you to have a health-insurance policy to cover 400K/40K in/out-patient would be when applying for a 1-year extension of stay based on an original Non Imm O-A Visa for reason of retirement.
>> From what you write it is not clear for which type of Visa or extension you will be applying.
It is ONLY when you entered VisaExempt or on a Tourist Visa that you can apply for a 90-day Non Imm O Visa. When you entered Thailand on a different type Visa (e.g. Non Imm O or Non Imm O-A) you can only apply for extensions of stay in accordance with the Visa-type on which you entered Thailand.
You are most probably now on a 60-day extension of stay for reason of visiting your Thai wife.
And you will most probably apply for a 1-year extension of stay based on a Non Imm O Visa for reason of visiting your wife. Be aware, that you need to meet the financial requirements for such application, and that - when opting for the funds-in-bank method - that this means you need to provide evidence of +400K on a personal Thai bank-account (a joint one with your wife is not accepted by IO) seasoned for at least 2 months at the moment of application.
Hi, I will apply for retirement visa(extensions!). I entered Thailand with 1 year marriage visa multiple entries from US and visa was expired on April. I continued with amnesty stay and got 60 days visiting wife. So I will apply for retirement visa (or retirement extensions!) very soon. Just some confused of covid insurance which I understand that I don't need since I already in Thailand. Thank you for replying.

Yes. ????????????????????????

Hi Ubonjoe, Since I am now at 2 months visa visiting wife and to convert to retirement visa here in Thailand is “apply for extensions of stay”, and I do not need Covid 19 insurance! Thank you ????. The immigration I talked to did not mention it neither but on the paper they handed it to me in Thai doesn’t mention but in English does.

Hi, I am currently on 2 months visiting wife visa. I soon will apply for retirement visa at immigration. After read on the forum about Covid insurance, some said yes do need and some said no! On immigration hand out paper written in Thai side doesn’t say insurance but in English does say! Since I am already in Thailand , do I need to have Covid-19 insurance to apply for retirement visa in Thailand?
Thank you -

Thanks for the report, and glad to see that MTT provided your 60-day extension of stay starting from 27 Sept (til 25 Nov). And that they not used the 'day of application' (reason some applicants are waiting for the final days of the Amnesty to apply).
So your next step will be opening a Bank Account, as you need a personal thai bank-account (not a joint one with your wife) to provide evidence of your financials when applying for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa for reason of marriage.
You need to apply for that Visa with at least 15 days (some offices even require 23 days) left on your permission to stay, so in your case Wednesday 11 November (or 3 Nov) being the dead-line for application. But obviously it is recommended to do the application a few days earlier in case your application is not complete so that you still have time to get hold of any missing documents IO might require.
There are several options to meet the financial requirements for that 90-day Non Imm O Visa application for reason of marriage.
> The 'cheapest' being the Embassy issued income-letter stating that your have monthly foreign income of at least +40K. However, when being a citizen of US, UK or Australia your Embassy does not issue those income letters anymore.
But if you are from another nationality, you can use that income letter and normally it will be accepted without any further questions asked. Sometimes the immigration officer handling your application might ask you to provide evidence of the SOURCE of that income (which is basically the same evidence you showed the Embassy staff on which basis they issued the income letter).
> The 'easiest' method (if you are not eligible for the Embassy issued income letter) is the 400K funds-in-bank method. You would need to provide evidence that the funds have been seasoned for two months on your personal thai bank-account, at the moment of application. No need to prove their foreign origins or the source of those funds. So your bank pass-book (updated on date of application) would already provide evidence of the above.
Note: You would need to keep the 400K on your thai bank-account also during the under consideration period, but you are free to use the funds as you please once you got the 1-year permission to stay stamp in your passport. And you would only need to top up again to 400K two months before the day of application for your next 1-year extension of stay.
> The 'difficult' method being the 40K monthly income transfer method. Only if you are not able to keep 400K on your personal thai bank-account for 2 months + the 3-4 weeks till you receive the 1-year permission to stay stamp, would I recommend that method.
PM me if your finances do not allow you to use the 400K method, and that you are considering that 40K monthly income transfer method. There are many caveats and hoops connected with using that method, so don't want to go in detail when you are not considering it.
Hi, I am in the same situation and have 60 days extension of stay. Which will be expired on 25 November. I'm going to apply for retiree visa next month after my bank deposit money reach 2 months. Do I need to apply first for 90 day retiree visa? or can I apply for 1 year retiree? Is that obligation to apply for 90 days first before I can apply for 1 year? Thank you.

If the US embassy did not let you do affidavit to a self certification of yours it would be worse.
You would first have to have it legitimized by the state that issued it, then the department of state and after that the Thai Embassy.
Thank you Ubonjoe????????

Send it to the UK to be legitimized as mentioned in the OP.
???? Wow! that will take time!

The UK Embassy do not do 'affidavits' for that purpose.

Thanks thats useful info.
Was this recently?
Just last week.

In Hua Hin imm. asked me for certified marriage certificate and I told her that only affidavit since US embassy does not certify marriage certificate. So I did affidavit and showed her on the day I applied for 60 days. She accepted it and I got 60 days extension.

How many days require to apply for retirement visa of the current visa? I just have my 60 days visa which will start on 27 Sept. so it will expire on 25 Nov 2020 so when I can apply for retirement visa?

What is that? Never heard of such a affidavit. Or do you mean a updated Kor Ror 2 or 22 (foreign marriage) from an Amphoe.
The only affidavit/statement done is when applying for a one year extension.
I will let you know when I'v done filing. I told her only marriage certificate needed but she insist to say certifiied marriage certificate! Maybe it's depend on each IO!

1. No
It is only required to get a one year extension of stay based upon marriage.
2. Th consulate in LA does not show it on their website. The embassy shows it here in Thai.
https://thaiembdc.org/th/thaimarriagecertificate/ But reading the translation of it appears it will not be what you need.
The Kor Ror 22 is only issued by a Amphoe here. To save time you could get your marriage certificate authenticated while in the states that is one of things the Amhoe require. Info for doing in the states is here. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/records-and-authentications/authenticate-your-document/office-of-authentications.html Then you would have to have it legalized by the LA consulate.
After getting it done it has to be translated to Thai and certified by Department of Consular Affairs in Bangkok.
Here you can do a self certification by doing a affidavit that it is true and correct at the US embassy that will be accepted after it is translated and certified.
Leaving on 2nd probably will not be considered a 2 day overstay since the amnesty is likely to be extended. No problem for anything later for a 2 day overstay.
Hi Ubonjoe, I like to add some information regarding 60 day visa extension visa. Hua him immigration asked me for affidavit my marriage certificate which I thought only marriage certificate needed. I don’t know if that only in this location or this Immgr person. So possible addition trip to the embassy for 60 days extension. I wonder how long valide of the”affidavit” document. Can we use the same one in the next 2 months when I apply for 60 days visa?(since amnesty extend).

Definitely good news????????????????????????????????
