  1. Well...many things to do there.  After 7-10 hours of walking up the hills by passing many stop of foods and drinks vendors (no need to bring any foods or drinks with you) if you still have energy to walk around the top plateau to see many of pines trees, views and plaine plateau fields.  You can rent bicycle to go around the plateau, go see foods vendors stores(again no need to bring any foods or drinks up there) but alcohols I am not sure if they allow?  There are several bungalows to stay over night or renting the tent to stay.  And in early morning wake up to see sunrise at the beautiful view point with the ranger guide.  And then walking down another 6-8 hours.  You can then go to Loei or Chiang Kan for over night.  Enjoy your stay at Phu Kradueng.

  2. Yesterday, I ran out of gas on motorbike on the way to Sunday market which about 8 km from my home.  I did not bring the key for my bik's gas tank (my bike needs no key to start!) so I did hitchi the car passed by back home.  He stopped and I asked him to drop me at the soi.. so he did.  On the way he stopped pick up some bags of chili and brought 3 bottle of cokes and handed me one!  When we got to the front of soi.. he stopped and i went to his window to thanks.  He asked me how far from the soi... to my home?  I said another 2 km.  He said then hopped back so he will take me to my home!  Thank you for being so kind!

  3. Trust me, I am so Thai but still get ripped of by Thai! We can call capitalist unregulated since there are no enforcing in marking the prices on merchants we brought! So try with 7/11, tessco they mark all their prices on their merchants! And many Thai do not has senses of prices what they buy(no informations, did not do a research etc.) they also got rip off.

    I did not say we must accept it but this can happen.

  4. Ubonjoe "Best to get a single entry non-o visa and apply for a one year extension based upon marriage at immigration if you can show 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or 40k baht income.".

    The benefit of doing this(get extension based upon marriage at immigration in Thailand, considered that I have 400k) is I do not need to get out from the country to extend 3 months? I just need to report at immigration office every 3 months? But how is it easy to deal with immigration office in Thailand? Paper work complication? Need many documents such as residential rental agreement and foreigner rental signed by the landlord? Bank statement? Translate my marriage certificate into Thai? etc

    But for multi o visa from consulate outside Thailand, we need to go to the border every 3 months to extend our visa but we do not need to deal with paper work at immigration office but only at the border. And border run is just thinking of taking a week end of to Myamar, vietnam, Laos, or Malaysia.

    Sorry for being too cautions so I do not want to fly back home to get another visa.

    Thank you very much everyone and specially Ubonjoe, I read many of your answers from the posts. There are very helpful.

  5. Hi, I know how you feel because I have the same situation but worse, my neighbor burn wood to make the coals for sell every week and it smokes like hell. The process take 3-4 nights which he will open the coal ovens during the night and you will wake up if it became very strong smell. I talked to him, he doesn't care, I talked to head of the village! He went to talk to the guy but Can not stop the guy. Put complain to village's health department counsel, they came to tell him to put up 5 feet chimney but does not work. Still stink, they came back but the guy did not open the door for them so one year and half later, he still does it. I gave up and close the window the night he burns. We do not live here all the time so we kind of let it go.

    We talked to many people in this situation, they can not do anything! The law enforcers do not want to involve (why we have them!) so only thing to do recommend by village health department was we must after him with lawsuite but since we are not here all the time we did not process.

  6. Hi;

    I used to be a kid in thai's boarding school in the country side. Long year ago, I remembered they told us to stay in the dorm in certain night so they can spray pesticide. I was in Los Angeles during 1984-1990, city goverment will announce certain day time durning the night that they will be on helicopter to spray some pesticide over certain residence area in Los Angeles. They said it supposed to be safe but they still want us to cover the car so I could not tell you how safe it is if the car metal or car paint still will be damaged.

    I think you should take recommendation from one of memeber here which very good advices "Buy a box full of those cheap masks that everybody wears. Take them to school and present them as a gift to the school. Explain that you know the importance of protecting children from mosquito bites, and thank them for being so concerned about your child's well being and eliminating the pests.

    Suggest that if they ever need to spray during school hours again, (because surely it was an omission to spray over the holidays while the kids were away, considering the health effects of pesticides, but yes you understand the job had to be done while they were there because it was so importantly pressing to eliminate the mosquitos), that they issue the masks to all the children and staff for continued and improved safety.

    Also, politely suggest that while the masks are of some benefit, they only partially protect the user, it would probably be safer for the staff and children if the spraying was done after hours or during holidays/weekends. But you fully understand that they were correct in wanting to eliminate the mozzies - job well done and all that.

    Everybody saves face, nobody is blamed, nobody admits responsibility or is called to admit responsibility - sorted. smile.png.pagespeed.ce.CwSpBGGvqN.png

    Well, it's one way to broach the subject without causing conflict, and it could just work."

    A lot of time, I think that Thai people does not expose often enough about certain thing, so they do not know what to do. If there are some body tell them properly way to do thing, they will listen to as some member mentioned in this forum.smile.pngwai2.gif

  7. I was in Khao Yai with my in laws. They are in 70 years. I drove from Bangkok up there. Visiting Khao Yai is not only the national park you will visit but also its environments around Khao Yai. There are several Vineyards in the area which you can stop by and you can take a tour around such as Khao Yai's Vineyard or Moon Soon Valley vineyard and there have a good food but kind of expensive. You can stop at farmChokChai for a Steaks and have visiting tour inside the farm. You can stop at fruits stand on the high way to Khao Yai. There are several new opened resorts you can visit on the way to Khao Yai. If you stay over night in Bungalow on Khao Yai, you can take night tour to see the animals by night (of course if you lucky enough to see any!). There are foods stands up in the information area so you do not need to bring anyfood with you. And to go back home, you can drive the car back to exit another side of mountain which will give you other view of Thailand(assume you know the area). Of course some area in Khao Yai will be difficult to walk for the elderly buy in general it is manageable.clap2.gif
