Also a 30m baht home doesn't help against this. I have seen it myself.
Thai are just very selfish.
I also have been in a nice resort somewhere at a river, all nice and perfect. Then some driving disco's came by over the water, very very loud music. When it got dark those driving disco's came nonstop untill 2 am. They had loads of them and that was the attraction of the town. Loads of people came there to rent a partyboat like that. I 'm happy i forgot where it was.
Sounds like here in Kanchanaburi.
I believe though that now the governer has decreed that the disco boats must finish at 10pm.
I think he lives close to the river.

No, they are not, I am sure even you can see that, surely. All lanes are fast (and equally dangerous) lanes.....
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Are you saying that you have never seen anyone here passing another vehicle at high speed on the inside?
this makes any kind of acceptable lane discipline a joke. And consequently means that whatever lane you wish to drive faster in is fine. It isn't fine of course.
My post was intended to be tongue in cheek, relating to Thai driving habits.
And yes a tragic fatality, lets not forget that

Overtaking lane eh?
Who are you kidding?
We are not in a country where any sort of lane discipline is adbered to.

If I'm not mistaken this campaign is launched every year. Last year they offered discounts for every cloth bag you filled at Tesco. This will never work in Thailand.
Barry
I remember going in to my local Tesco a few years back, I was with the missus and we took a couple of green "Bags for life".
We were told by the staff that we couldn't use them because the security people could not see through them.
I e mailed some chap at their Bangkok office who promised that something would be done.....Yeah right.....

Actually right now is a good time Tourists are down because of the protests and hotels feel the pinch
Also the weather is terrific Try Ao Maneo Fantastic area and not too many people
I agree......often a nice sea breeze. Good accomodation, food and drink relatively cheap.
Ao manao normaly quiet in the week.
Very relaxing down there...

The stamps required are tax stamps.
Mario yes.
They don't miss a further oppurtunity fo a little more into government coffers....I know its only 30 baht....
-
Yes,
Not the stamp but in addition to getting the signed copy of the landlords blue book, also get a signed copy of his ID card.. It might save you an additional trip.
Wayned...yes already got his I.D signed copy with rental agreement.

Ubon....It would appear that the medical certificate is peculiar to Kanchanaburi....
It is only a 2 minute task at a clinic cost, 50 baht..
-
I have just been to Kanchanaburi immigration office, for my annual retirement extension.
I have done this for several years now and went armed with what is usually sufficient, that is Embassy letter confirming income, copies of passport pages, medical certificate, house rental contract, my extension was not granted. I was told that there is a new requirement that came in this year, as follows....
House rental contract needs to have official stamp from city hall, cost 30 baht, easily done at government office next door, also a signed copy of the property landlord's house ownership book is required.
I will need to obtain this and return to Immigration.
Anyone else come across this at any other immigration office?
It may, of course be peculiar to Kanchanaburi office only

smelly old racist farangs in this here thread makes me sick reading this .. you have no clue bout this poor fellows life yet you judge being racist and want to see him hang high on the rope..what crime is it to beg ? and using violence against a beggar i can only shake my head the animal that did this is the one who should be put in jail..Classy to step on humans that are already crawling on their knees... you animals makes me sick shame on you "Immigrants"
Begging is a crime in England, I believe.
Maybe the guy does need help.
He sure aint goin to get it here.
Aggravated begging is certainly illegal in the UK, as is Assault and Battery.
If it turns out the battering was done by, lets say, a local policeman, I suspect the tone of a lot of posts would reverse. And what state of confusion would result if he was beaten by the local yaba dealer???[/quote
Begging of any sort is contrary to the vagrancy act 1824.
And your standing or lack of it in the community gives you exactly the same legal rights....UK that is...
-
Did he ever attack anyone ? can you really justify violence in exchange for words ?a crime to beg ? who are to tell me who i can and can not help ?? should be a crime not to help humans in need.
Seems the guy might whack you if your small change was inadequate eh............
Well actually yes.
We dont know exactly what was said by the beggar to the person that took offence.
If tbe person who the beggar spoke to believed he was in immediate danger of being assaulted he acted within the law..In my country that is....

M30000
You can help who you wish, and i applaud your charitable intentions....I often feel the same way.
What makes me feel less sorry for this man, were the words agressive and rude....alledgedly used to people he was Begging from
Do you see that if the manner in which he was alledgedly conducting himself is true he provoked the response he got.?

Isn't that Robbie Savage?Shouldn't this be in the sport sub-forum?
So ... do you are thinking she's a good
sportsort ?Or, is it that she has a sporting chance of Podiuming?
OH ... I did look for a Miss Scotland ... but alas ... there was no such Lassie ...
Would you settle for Miss GB ?
... just quietly ... I would ...
As for a national costume ... wouldn't a Morris Dancing outfit be closer to the truth ...

They only want to see money in a Thai account if you use the 800,000 baht available method
If you have incomes into accounts in your home country totalling 65,000 baht per month an embassy letter confirming this has always been enough financial evidence.
I hope that this is still the case
-
Other than Phuket I don't recall any recent reports of immigration asking for additional proof of income.
I always have my Thai bank book with me though as a just in case measure though.
I knew I had seen something.
Maybe just a Phuket thing then.
I am the same as you. I try to cover every eventuality.
Maybe I am getting paranoid.........
Understandable - you are a Derby fan
You Reds!!
Super Shtevies black and white army......

Yes sorry Ubon I was just about to add that.
The embassy have never queried the age of the statements, and, as you rightly say Immigration dont normally ask to see the statements.
I do seem to recall reading somewhere that Immigration have started to ask to see the statements.
A better question would have included has any one been asked to show statements at immigration and had problems?
-
As I always try to keep up with the ever changing rules here, before my yearly visit to immigration, for my yearly extension application, I would just like to ask the following.
I have used bank statements that have been dated some 3 months prior to my application before, as i like to have them here in plenty of time, (forwarded from UK).
Has anyone here had any recent experience as to whether this is still acceptable or has this been recently changed?
Thanks.

Traveled that very road 2 days ago when visiting a friend at the elephant camp.
Obviously only speculation, but there are some horrendous potholes in the road to avoid.
Many Russians there and two of the Pegas buses.

That's good. But let's see where they are.
Kawthoung: Off Ranong in Thailand. Google Map
Tachilek: Off just about the most Northerly Point in Thailand. Google Map
Myawaddy: Next to Mae Sot in Tak. Google Map
You could always do a stamp in and out in Mae Sot anyway.
So good news, but not great. Get one open within 3-4 hours driving from BKK and they'd make a mint with border runners.
Yes i agree I would have thought that the newly opened border in Kanchanaburi would have been on the list....though I suspect that the infastructure on the Burma side is not yet ready

This is nothing compared to the hideous rail crashes that have happened in Australia ( Granville 1977 ), Norway ( Oslo to Trondheim 2000 ) ... and Europe, etc etc in each case KILLING hundreds! Norway with billions of dollars in oil revenue, has done nothing to improve the situation that caused the 2000 crash. Thailand is constantly working on track upgrades. If you have done the Bangkok to Butterworth trip recently, you will know what I am talking about.
Yes , I totally agree....But what is disturbing is the fact that someone , obviously with some clout in SRT , knew that there was a maintenance problem with this track that went........mai pen rai....... It will be fixed ..Sometime...Passenger safety should be paramount...
Can you imagine someone in Norway ...Australia...saying that they knew Maintenance was needed, and never acted upon it?
