No. Educational standards here have to change. To begin with, they have to start encouraging the students to question the teachers, developing curiosity in the process. Any teacher who has a hard time being questioned, is hiding something.
By international standards, the two top universities in Thailand are Mahidol and Chulalongkorn. World University Rankings created by Times Higher Education takes into account the reputation of research done by universities and how often papers produced by universities were quoted around the world. They have Mahidol ranked at #610, and Chulalongkorn ranked at #801, worldwide. That is the best this nation is capable of. Shows you how important education is to the elite (who send their kids overseas for college) and this spectacularly toxic administration. I know this thread is primarily about grade school, but I doubt there are international rankings for that.
Also, University used to serve a vital function. These days, that is not necessarily the case. Unless one graduates with a medical degree, medical tech, nursing, an MBA from a top 20 school, or a degree in engineering, the prospects are not what they used to be. And the debt can be outrageous. College seems to be a racket these days. Big business. And who wins in the end? The university. Vocational school, or specialized training, may have more application, in this world.
Although I agree with you, students questioning their teachers will probably not go down to well with the Thai hierarchy. It is so ingrained into Thai "culture" to not question those in the educational system (and elsewhere) that this would be very difficult to change.
In looking at the World University rankings for 2023 as put out by The Times Higher Education I found that Chula was ranked highest for Thai universities. It was grouped somewhere between #801 - 1000. Mahidol was ranked at #4 for Thai universities and in the same band as Chula. Surprisingly, Thammasat was only #10 amongst Thai universities and was in the #1201-1500 band of universities.

They just want to check and see if he has an adequate amount of Johnnie Walker, caviar, and other delicacies that aren't easily obtained.

The Move Forward Party had a few policies that really upset a lot of older conservative Thais. This did not endear him to a significant number of the population. Can't really say much more than that on the subject if ya know what I mean.

China has a very large population and a lot of citizens that travel all over the world. Ok, I see why the Thai government would want to lure them to Thailand. Kazakstan? That one just boggles the mind as it's a small country of roughly 19-20 million. I do hope that this will be extended to most western nations.

Not surprised that Thaksin will be allowed to "recuperate" outside of the prison walls. His pardon will be coming very soon after a period of time under house or resort arrest.

It all sounds like a good idea but are the teachers and administrators capable of teaching using this type of technology?

I wonder how the recently divorced wife of 30 years is taking all of this?

Different strokes for different folks. Hope it works out for everyone.

I own a 37sqm condo in Jomtien that I bought in 2006. I've never lived in it but used it as a weekend place when I would drive down to Pattaya from Bangkok. Started using it less and less so I began renting it out. Other than during Covid, it's been rented out almost all the time. It's a nice unit on a high floor. A larger refrigerator and a two burner built in cooker makes for a nice kitchen. The air flow is nice from the balcony and a slatted screen door that leads out to a wide hallway. A lot of shops on the ground floor as well as a very big swimming pool. My longest tenant was three years. He left at the beginning of Covid. Personally, I couldn't live in something like that for more than a month. I like my larger space and enjoy living in a house.

I always dressed nice when having to go to a Thai government office. Immigration, Labour, etc. The Thais a quite conservative in that way. Just play the game and you will get better results.

I would go with one of the bigger agencies such as East Coast, Cornerstone, and Alan Bolton. Once you are interested in a particular development, I would check on what similar units that you like are being priced at. I would also think of going more mid-level. You'll be better off if you do.

Chadchart can keep on dreaming because it most likely won't happen anytime soon.

Anyway you look at it, this teacher is in a world of legal trouble. Unless he can get a very good, and expensive lawyer, he might be spending a little more time in Thailand than he had planned.

Ow many genuine Tourists want to stay longer than 60 days, or can stay that long?
I suspect very few, if any.
To be able to afford to stay 60days or longer, they are going to need money. That is to have a job. if you have a job, you are not likely to get 60 days leave or longer.
Long stayers are normally back-backers, or gap year students, or bums looking for a cheap place to live, not the Big spending, Quality Tourists that Thailand sys it wants.
Retired "snowbirds" escaping the northern hemisphere winter would be another group of people to add to the list.
Perhaps digital nomads would be another.

Very optimistic thinking on his part. History has proved otherwise.

He's probably under the stress of deciding what he should order for dinner the next evening and who to invite to have dinner with him.

If Thailand were to issue a 90 day visa on arrival to countries that already receive a 30 day visa on arrival, that would be a huge positive to those that want to spend 90 days in Thailand over the northern hemisphere winter. If you could then get a 30 day extension without leaving the country that would be even better for those that want to stay 120 days in Thailand before returning to their home country.

Very little quality food, shopping, sights except the bay (karst/island) itself, which smells of sewage along the South promenade, broken in many spots.
North side is getting major revamp at the moment. Lovely 6+ kms of bay to 'look' at.
The beaches, Ao Prachuap (fronts the city), polluted w/fishing boats, & Ao Manao (swimmer's beach), both nice to look at, but I won't swim in it, as last 2 times my ears were underwater at Ao Manao, they got infected ...
... nuff said.
Half the beach area is covered with chairs & umbrellas, charging silly price to sit, even if you order food.
Notice in the posted vid, coming out of hotel to check out, very early Sunday, as stated, and yea, little traffic, but at end of vid, night, from far south end, northward, the road is nothing but parked cars in bicycle lane, as far as the eye can see.
So when sitting at street level restaurant, all are except 1 at Hathong Hotel, then the view is of parked cars with scooter going by all night, and cars attempting to drive down the now 1 lane available.
We don't go down there much as the restaurants, are nothing special and overpriced. Restaurant, The View (@ Hathong hotel) is nice for an afternoon munch, once the sun is on the other side of noon. The only restaurant we'll dine at, along that stretch of surf. Most times, the only customer there.
One other, Rap Lom on N side, most tourist without transport won't venture to. Gets packed with Thai domestic tourist & locals.
For sunset, Bay Camp Cafe, (gets packed), decent coffee & pastries, very far N side of bay, loops around facing W.
Most of the farangs, living here & tourist seem to visit the 2 restaurants in the vid, serving mostly western food.
Love living here, but not in town, and you do have to self entertain. Ban Krut, another hour south of Hua Hin, a much better choice for a 'beach' holiday. A beach you can actually walk on & swim in.
Weekend night market along surfside road is quite nice, as is sitting surfside, along the wall, hopefully upwind, and at a space in between the storm/sewer drains. Choose wisely or endure the smell of sewage.
We only go down there, surfside, at early evening, when shaded by couple hotels and leave at sunset. If living here, nothing really to do except sit & sip a beverage, which is fine.
If tourist, the same from your balcony, from the few hotels that have, putting you about street level and away from the smell.
Not to scare anyone from visiting, as good for 2 day R&R, but so you're not surprised or disappointed, and know what to expect.
Easy access by train <1km stroll (station to surfside), but better if you self drive, as no real taxis/public transport, except renting a scooter. A few scooters with side carts, but they hang around the train station.
Saying that, if arrive by van, you need to probably walk (3 kms) to surfside from Phetkasem road van depot. Ok stroll as long as not traveling heavy.
Only 2 other places we dine at, not surfside:
ร้านกินเส้นประจวบ - only AC place, good Khao Soi (pork ????), call first though, iffy hrs, lots of unannounced closings.
After reading your post that is not to flattering of the place, I wonder why you live there if it is so bad?

Thaksin will serve very little time in prison. One of the first things that the new PM Srettha Thavisin will do is to pardon Thaksin of all convictions. He might even state that being in exile for 17 years is "prison enough" since he couldn't be in Thailand.

It sounds more like a bicycle ride or tour and not a race.

There are all types of Thai women. Some are hot but most are not. Many are attractive though so that's nice. There are lots of Thai women that go overseas for graduate education. Universities in England, Australia, and the US will always have some Thai students enrolled in graduate programs. They are educated, come from families that have some $$, and most speak very good English. As long as you are under 40 you might have a chance with some of them.
No parole for Thaksin… yet

Don't worry. Thaksin will find a way to be out of jail/prison very soon.
