  1. vehicle needs to be present at time of name change cos they have to check vin numbers with the book etc

You must do the name change at the same DLT where the truck is registered

Wow awesome... not good news for me.

You see Kwasaki... rather than be an <deleted> you could have replied the same.... but I guess you are just as clueless on the actual matter as me.

  2. Well the mention of Pattaya narrows down the provinces and the question clearly is asking if anyone else has had to deal with the same/similar problem because I was hoping as the vehicle is only 2 years old it would not have to make an appearance at the DLT and that would save me a lot of time of fitting up the fuel system and turbo of another vehicle just to get this one running for a few moments of glory at the DLT.

Thanks for your advice though, Now idea why the though of just going to the DLT never occurred to me earlier.

  3. Umm yeah, I do work in Thailand. Going to the DLT daily is not part of my work description. I have done vehicle transfers on running vehicles but not on ones that don't.

Rocking up to the DLT poses several issues, firstly I need to take the time off work to do so and secondly I would also need to take a local (thai person) from work with me to assist with the asking....

Not really feasible to do unfortunately hence I was asking if anyone else had some knowledge so I know what to expect... not sure why you take offence to me asking ?

  4. 400 and 500 barrel and head are the same. My barrel was bored 3mm over size (from stock) to 90mm. any further than that and you run the possibility of splitting the barrel.... if you want more you need to sleeve them but then that opens you up to the possibility of 600+cc on a SR500 Crank.

My maths were a bit out, seems the 90mm piston only give 535cc with the 500 crank.

Lots of info on big bore kits (and lots of other info) can be found on the SR500 forum.

  5. I dont recall mentioning it was cheap so yes 1000hp is only for those with deep pockets.... should I have said instead " it is common for people with deep pockets in the modified car scene in Aus to build 1000hp daily drivers" ?

BTW, lots of people in aus do have deep pockets..... I wish I was one of them.

The guy who owns that 02PRUV ute also owns an 800HP Ultima and a little BMW M3 that is only making 700hp.... I guess you could say he has deep pockets.

  6. so the shop you purchased it from did not turn it on and set the time and date for you ?

    I call bullshite.

    Bought it at Tesco.

They just checked that it is working, after my request.

    Don't just call.......eat it also.

Yeah when you first turn on a new phone you need to set the time/date/language which tells me they never got as far as slipping in a sim card.......

What did they check that was working other than the on/off button ?

  7. Really, 1000hp daily drivers are common....blink.png

    BUT, lets not argue eh......thumbsup.gif

No need to argue am just stating facts.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeer, I do not see any facts regarding common 1000hp rides.........rolleyes.gif

You need to understand the modified car scene in Australia.

If I was back home this car would be looking promising for me to park in my Garage... it is a typical Ford Falcon build.

    EDIT:

Just remembered a mate is selling his ute (another common type of build).

  8. Where did high performance clutches come into this post ? blink.png

Wasn't the OP looking to change to an auto box hence no clutch ?

Personally I would sell the manual and buy an auto. Less hassle in the end

Trannyman brought up the high performance clutch he used 30 years ago saying they are heavy.

And still used to this day. The folk that make that multi plate in your photo, Monster Clutch Co, still make conventional but high performance single plate stuff.

Not by anybody that is making proper horsepower (650+)and wants a street friendly clutch pedal.

Unlike the old days when a car that made 400HP at the treads was considered amazing (even in my younger this rings true)the truth is these days it is not uncommon to see 1000HP daily driver cars.

  9. Perhaps yes, everything moves on, but for high HP jobbies greater clamping pressure is required also. Hence bigger is better. My ride would burn any make of plate in a 1000 miles if I was stomping on it, clutch slip. Tried a sintered bronze paddle plate, not street-able, dumped it. My dual plate set up made by McLeod was a vast improvement but destroyed the gearbox. sad.png .

    Nah.

I have mates that have big HP (800hp Supra's/1000HP Falcons) daily drivers and the clutches feel like stock ones to use.

I think sintered bronze plates stopped being used about 20 years ago.

Here's a Monster Clutch for the LSX, it will hold 1000hp.

    What ARE you on about...................coffee1.gif ..............rolleyes.gif ...................coffee1.gif

what Iam saying is that bigger might have been better back 30 years ago but these days good decent clutches are actually fairly small.

  10. I understand not everyone has stayed at the hyatts marriotts Hilton in China before ...the quality is outstanding and the buildings are among the best of their brands worldwide but then again yeah it's not for everyone.

So thanks for the concern but someone who pays a billion for a building knows the in/out of managing a property profitably , not a skill set everyone would have in recent times

I said the population of the PRChina still doesn't know what a dish washing machine is and I referred to the small apartments most PRChinese live in which they erroneously call a house. There are very few free standing houses in the PRChina contrasted to nearly everyone in metro areas living in apartments.

The Wall Street Journal headline on this story was, "Hilton Tosses Waldorf to Chinese Insurer," which pretty much sums up the picture, which is that,

The grand though aged Waldorf needs a renovation, a task that will add substantially to Anbang's sticker price. Such an investment could be paid back with higher room rates or proceeds for the sale of rooms converted to condominiums. That Hilton itself preferred to skip the risk is a sign of the task ahead.

The Chinese buyers are paying $1.4 million per room for 1413 rooms when the going price in Manhattan is $1m.

Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc has 27 Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts to include in Beijing and Shanghai and is adding other destinations such as Bangkok and Bali. If Hilton had wanted to sink money in to the New York property it would have done so. Hilton instead will apply the take on this fast deal to the U.S. hotel market such as the coming soon Beverly Hills Waldorf Astoria.

China’s equities and property markets are stagnant so PRC insurance companies are going to where the value is, which is U.S. real estate. One could say Hilton saw 'em coming cause Hilton turned away two other suitors to sign this deal in no time at all..

As to the security aspect, here's what a NYPD source related to the New York Post .....

“The Chinese are very tricky. They are involved in snooping for proprietary reasons to gather intelligence on us and to gain an advantage in the capitalistic world we live in,” a law enforcement source told The Post. “They are trying to gain that advantage on us — and one of the major ways they’re doing this is by stealing our computer secrets.”

The Waldorf sale could open the door to a world of spilled secrets.

“A lot of important people who possess secret information stay at the Waldorf,” the source said. “That information could get into the hands of the Chinese now.”

    http://nypost.com/2014/10/13/amid-security-concerns-us-eyes-sale-of-waldorf-astoria-to-chinese-firm/

I'm not sure the Treasury Department's Board of cabinet secretaries that review these things want to put the financial collar back around the neck of the Hilton group, but the security aspect just might force the decision in that direction. If the renovation plan simply changes how the president has to come and go at the hotel then the sale is dead in the water.

In financial debt/borrowing terms how much does america actually owe China ?

Happy to borrow money but not happy to sell property ?

  12. ]

I was a mechanic years ago, I agree with hocuspocusy it would probably lower the value of your car by 50% as it would make such a mess of the vehicle change flywheel is involved maybe also the diff tail shaft give me about $10,000 and I still wouldn't take the job

    Auto don't have a flywheel..................coffee1.gif

Pretty sure it's a matter of semantics on technical terminology, we knew what he meant correct?

Just pointing out to the readers that don't know....smile.png

Manual trans has a (heavy) flywheel that the clutch assembly bolts too and an auto has a (light) flex plate that the torque converter bolts on.

On performance rides the manual assembly usually gets heavier and autos get lighter.

Why, a manual needs the biggest clutch possible to increase plate contact area,(I had a twin plate assembly once) an auto will need a smaller diameter torque converter to increase "stall" rpm, I had a 10 inch converter to raise launch rpm to 3600 rpm, the stock was 12 or 13 inch.

Yeah these days modern clutch technology has reduced the size of them due to advancements in the friction materials.

  13. Well, to answer your question "why?" I'd like to do it because maybe I'm not as rich as many of you. You see, my income is small(hello ladies giggle.gif ). My last apartment(fan cooled) was 3000 baht per month. I eat Thai food(street food) 99% of the time in Thailand. The reason I wanted to live in Thailand and not America is because I could not afford to live in America any more. I'm looking at lowering my food expediture so I can live on $5000(160,000 baht) a year or less(new budget). I'll soon be moving into a sleek Thai apartment(fan cooled) with a total cost of 1,800 baht per month($55). I think I can live on my new food budget. It just takes willpower to resist all those expensive farang restaurants.

What happens if the USD takes a dump and suddenly your Bt.160,000 becomes Bt.100,000 ?

What are you doing for a visa ?

  14. What will happen if you get sick or have an accident ? So you need a hospital

govt hospital. good enough for me.

It may be good enough for you - but if you get very sick - you may change your mind.

It is not uncommon to be discharged early as they could have a shortage of beds - which also causes patients to sleep on the floor...

You won't often get the newest and best medicines.

The doctor/nurse ratio to patients is shall we say not ideal...

However, the best private hospitals in Thailand are quite good so if your low budget lifestyle allows lots of savings you may be just fine in a medical emergency.

But anyway, not sure how you are coming to the conclusion that those who only want to spend 100bht a day on food can't afford health care.

The mention of health was in response to the person saying they want to live here on $5,000USD for 12 months.
