  1. I'm a little surprised to hear that changing from manual to auto would be 'easy' back in the 80's when i was in hi-school in texas, alot of the kids would by these used 70's TA's, formula's, and Camero's , but most of them were 3speed auto's.. the kids would work on the cras, changing intake manifolds, adding dual exhaust .. a few little things to give them some more kik, but a manual transmission was the only way to give them a serious qtr mile time.. but none of them ever did it because they said it was too hard.. for 1 thing an automatic transmission and a manual transmission are 2 different sizes, the new transmission wont just 'fit' into place, there's going to need some rigging and modifying to do it.. yea?

Years ago manufacturers used to have 2 different floor pans depending on gearbox (manual or auto) being fitted but from my experience with Australian and UK vehicles is those with the auto tranny had the bigger tunnel so swapping to a manual was not an issue with floorpan clearance..... swapping the other though (manual to auto) one would "massage" the trans tunnel with an FBH (Fookin Big Hammer).

These days there is no difference in floorpans.

  2. Why would any one keep a meat clever in his glove box? in case he will encounter a chunk of

meat on the road? NO, anyone who dose that he's up to no good, and as for being an "Australian",

sadly, the type of passport you carry don't mean shit when it come to your behavior and respect

    of local people...

Guy I bought my old Colorado from kept a tomy axe beside the drivers seat, his name was Habib .

  3. Only do this if you can think of it as a hobby, nothing something rational to do.

Many problems are coming to you. Why not just buy a different car?

The only problem is sourcing the OEM parts (for a decent price). once fitted there will never be a problem as it will be just the same as if Toyota themselves assembled the vehicle.

Infact I could ask the guy who did the 1uz conversion that I mentioned earlier, it is possible the workshop that did his conversion has the complete auto box set-up still sitting there then all else that would need to be sourced would be the auto shifter/cable/speedo cable/kick down cable/gearbox mount/tailshaft etc etc etc.... hell you could just remove the clutch pedal and have the smaller manual brake pedal if one did not want to source the auto brake pedal.

Seriously swapping from manual to auto is not some sort of voodoo rocket science.

  4. Darkian,

My bike mechanic is very good and know's SR engines inside out (he just stretched my 400 to 540 and does all the mechanical work on my managers SR) if you are looking for someone to pull it down and get it polished/powder coated/detailed.

He is located in Laem Chabang (actually works with me but he does bikes on the side from his brothers bike shop).

For Stainless cap head bolts and nyloks most of the ones in my engine came from Hardware House.

  5. cheaper to do a drive in drive out toyota 1uz/auto conversion, that only costs 40k.

Best advice so far. Only 40k? Wow.

Yeah I was surprised at the price as well but the guy that came and purchased my Ranger this morning swears thats how much the conversion cost him. He had it done (in his vigo) just over a month ago. He plans to convert the Ranger as well.

  6. It's not a big deal, lots of motor garages can do it.

The only things I would be worried about is the speedo cable connection behind the speedo in the dash, getting the right size transmission cooler if you don't replace your radiator with an auto specific radiator, the length of the drive shaft and the splines in the auto output shaft matching the drive shaft.

The torque converter and flex plate should be a clean fit. The drive train tunnel will be auto friendly when it was made.

Does anyone have an idea know what this would cost on on 2012 Toyota Hilux?

Cheaper to find another Toyo imo.
The problem Ace, is the fact that 2008 Xtra cabs were not available in Auto. If he wants an original A/T vehicle, he'll need to buy a 2013 model or perhaps late 2012.

Actually, if the OP does a bit of searching, he will find it is a pretty common conversion in Thailand. I can't remember the cost, but seem to remember it was fairly reasonable. 50 thousand or something like that.

    Jebus 50K....

  7. Yes we know what the immigration act says, the simple fact is not everyone gets deported.

Must be that you have some shit in your eyes, but I posted already before you entered this thread the following..

But don't let the reality get in the way of a good argument

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/767415-stopped-by-police-for-drink-driving/?p=8517111

Of course the decision is as always up to the discretion of the immigration officer and is only for criminal law convictions.

Well get off your high horse then.... nice backflip on your claims you will be deported if convicted though.

  8. I couldn't find a stream for the top 10 shootout today so I ended up paying the $14.00 for the v8supercars.com stream.... missus will be pissed tomorrow when I plug the computer into the loungeroom TV for the day !!

Good idea. Hope my internet speed will support it without endless buffering

Looks like ustream is a goer.

    http://www.ustream.tv/channel/supercheap-bathurst-1000-2014

    Weird.

Working for you and mine still says off air.

Speedcafe has live blog, but no video

How's the v8supercars.com stream working out?

I never actually seen it streaming on ustream, just noticed that appeared to be online.

v8supercar stream has been perfect so far.

  9. I was not deported.

Were you convicted in a Thailand court of law for drive drinking ?

I answered your deportation claim. Make of that what you will but I'll not add any further information.

That of course adds a lot of credit to your comment.

Would you believe, I was also not deported, and I know hundreds of people that weren't deported.

Anyone else on Thaivisa who hasn't been deported???

Maybe you were not deported because you owned over a 100 Fords before you moved to Thailand whistling.gif

Really "not deported because you owned over a 100 Fords before you moved to Thailand".... pretty pathetic clutch of straws to discredit me.... guess you are not happy people are calling bullshit on your claims.

  10. In Chiang Mai recently, you were carted off to the police cells, whoever you were, Thai or farang, car or motorbike. You would then appear in court the next working day and be fined 20,000 baht. I didn't have the pleasure, but know people that did. Previously, people had the option of diverting to the ATM to contribute to the RTP's Tetley's tea fund, 10k or more, before a new chief went on a crackdown. Not sure of the MO now.

Add to that, that you will be deported since you're convicted for a criminal offense.

    I was not deported.

  12. Hatred for Ford, certainly NOT. Rather sad if anything. Ive said so many times most of us have fond memories a Ford during our Mororing life. As for the Pic , shame someone cant do something useful in their spare time.Looks like an old Cessna

Umm was talking current day here in Thailand. Not what have done/loved/hated in the past (actually you do not seem to like any manufacturer here )

Myself I have owned more than 100 Fords (in my past before Thailand).... the first one I purchased new has not been a good experience and will never buy another (new or secondhand).... I dont let my personal views interfere with work life so when I am done with sweeping the floors I don my work cap and get along with whatever Iam tasked to do.

I agree it looks like the cabin of an airplane !!

  13. Laundry costs 20 baht to use the washing machine ( i do one wash a month ) No need to iron clothes - please note that life is not a " fashion show " ( although it was for myself in the late 1970's viewers when i worked as a Male Model - " fabulous " )

How many days do you get out of 1 pair of undies/jocks ?

  14. I know very well your hatred of Ford in Thailand and more specifically the Ranger so I thought this one might amuse you.

When I rest my janitor broom (cause the floor is clean) I toil with other stuff during the work day.

It is a work in progress but you (hopefully) understand whats happening to this Ranger.
