  1. As the poster does not state his age then saying "First of all, it will not be possible for you to get medical insurance at your age in Thailand." might not be true.

Insurance can be bought up to 60, 65 in some cases. With BUPA is you sign up before your 60 birthday then they will extend cover as long as you live - and can pay the premiums.

Actually insurance can be bought up until you are 71.

The cost is high and there are more stringent health requirements to be met. Also there will be a certain amount you must pay before it kicks in. check with an insurance agent they have a better handle on it than just searching the internet.

As for Medicare I believe that is available when a person retires. If he retires at 62 it is available to them then at a price of course.

Medical insurance can be bought at any age - not just 71. Only probelm are the premiums !! Talk to the sponsors, AA Insurance Brokers as they can offer - suggest Peter as he speaks English

  2. Seems the Op is going a little over top. The policy does not say you are covered for emergencies in Thailand – if you are not hospitalised - so no argument. If not admitted then generally not too serious as they seem to keep you in these days for the slightest thing just to rack up the bill. One other thing checking ACS with BUPA, the BUPA policy (even the top one) is nowhere near the benefit level of ACS and far more expensive !

  3. I don't know the type of helmet you're looking for specifically but earlier today I passed by what used to be the Mityon shop on the corner of 3rd Road and Soi Lengkee (almost opposite Boxing Roo Bar and New York Pizza) and it's now called X-Speed and seems to be focused on custom bike building/parts/supplies. They had 3 very nice looking bikes outside - a Honda, a Kawasaki and a Ducati - all around 850 or 900cc with what looked like custom paint jobs. They also have what looked like a reasonable selection of helmets - https://www.facebook.com/635378919857963/photos/pcb.747554745307046/747554661973721/?type=1&theater

I don't know if these are the kind of helmets you're looking for but in any event if you're into bikes I reckon this shop is worth a visit.

OP: If you really can't find you're size here, why not buy online from the link that you posted?

Thanks, I will have a look tomorrow. The link I posted is for the manufacturer's website, they don't do direct sales from there. I was having a look for online delivery but haven't managed to find any sites as yet.

On 2 different occasions I bought from them direct as could not find the correct size - extra 200 Baht for postage but very quick.

Trying to order now. I seem to be having trouble finding the checkout on the website!

I ordered one by phoning them direct, told them what I wanted, transferred the money and it appeared about 3 days later
