It did not mention which nationalities these tourists were, and I do not know if this is even relevant but I came across this online the other day and could help some Brits if they needed it.

It seems strange when the Thai Government states that they have zillions of overseas investments yet asking for a handout. I wonder if someone is telling porkies ?

Captain Monday - How is your comment constructive. Its just bitchy and serves no purpose. I bet you don't have many friends

Thank you to all that contributed with constructive advice. I will pass the information over to family member.
One more question is - is it likely that they will be blacklisted and if so would this be considered if they wanted to apply for a visa to visit the UK ?

Kickstart - Mabprachan Lake is less than 5% and we have had not Government water for over a month in our village. Current costs of buying trucked water is approximately 6,000 baht. Sometimes we dont shower for a few days at a time as the water trucked in is so dirty. Just basic cleanliness is getting to be a big problem, such as washing the dishes or keeping the toilets clean and free from smell. I am not going to go into the huge budget given to local authority a few back to sort this out, but looks like they failed miserably. Where is the connection of all the reservoirs and river in Bangkok ? Looks like it was budgeted for but never done.

Due to the recent lockdown a family member has lost their job and now totally reliant on my wife and I to survive. Unfortunately they are now unable to keep up monthly finance on a car. What options do they have and are their any negative repercussions ? They have paid a large deposit and 1 years repayments but still have 3 years left to pay.

I don't think so in Pattaya area -

(Thailand has around 37 million workers in the informal and formal sectors combined, plus 9 million freelancers and 17 million in the farming sector). With Thailand having a population of around 68 million, these figues seem incorrect. According to my maths he is stating there are 63 million workers, or am I missing something ?

(In the future, foreign tourists wanting to visit Thailand will have to apply a month ahead and must agree to a 14-day quarantine upon entering the country. He said this move may help the private sector arrange quarantine sites for visitors) A lot of tourist - Chinese included, only visit Thailand for 7, 10 or 14 days holiday. Do they really expect people to work all year saving to fly half way around the world to be put under virtual house arrest for their ENTIRE holiday ? That will not help the Thai economy and I do not think many, if any, will come. GOODBYE Thailand, nice knowing you. In future years the schools will be teaching their students that ONCE Thailand was a tourist hub until idiots took control

I understand and respect the safety regulations but it is extremely difficult if not impossible to practice social distancing inside our home with 9 people living there. Also what about many thais that live in a single room, or the families living up country with a small house/room. Very difficult if not impossible. But we do our best and just waiting for a positive outcome soon

Why would they even speak about this without an ulterior motive in mind ?

I think that Japan like the US wants to control their manufacturing and will want to take it back home

With those stairs it is really good that they never found the "Bridge players" who were on zimmer frames ! Wonderful how they treat one nation against another !

Its good that people can joke at times like this, but I wonder if they are still joking in a month or two. I personally think if you are under house arrest, the least you should be able to do is have a beer or two. If you are allowed to go shopping for food, then what is wrong with adding a few bottles of beer to drink at home so long as you do not drink outside in gangs.

doctormann - the map looks like there are still roads allowing access to the Supermarkets on Sukhumvit coming from Darkside. Makro, Tesco Lotus and Big C seem to be accessible from DS without the need to pass through check point. Carry your passport and probably be ok. Oh and a face mask as Makro not allow without. Really interesting to know where the boundary for Pattaya is.

The USA gave them a few million $USD which I doubt is used for anything other than Food and alcohol in the Govetnment. They do zero for foreigners and I am amazed why the West keeps giving them money. Time for the West to get heavy handed and say look after our boys or else

Assurancetourix & Neyezhov - No we do not have a well but have a tank but with 9 people in our house when the water stops (often without notice) it drains quickly. No we do not fill the cistern as we have a tank as that automatically fills but when they close the water down for whatever reason the tank drains. I cannot have a well installed as we live inside a MooBaan. Anyway what has that got to do with the fact that they keep turning the water off - we still hope for rains very soon
-
Difficult to keep washing hands etc when we keep having our water turned off as shortage here. We do have hand sanitizer but what about toilet facilities and dish washing ? Our house hope the rains come for general cleanliness
-
How can they have spent all the proceeds from the sale of house and car ? Something just doesn't sound right
Dry season nearly over, says irrigation dept chief

OnTheGround- Where was it raining in Pattaya ? As anything falling beachside is wasted as it flows downhill straight into the Ocean. To do any good we need it to rain East of Suhkumvit preferable near Mabprachan area as that is the water supply for Pattaya area. Photos taken of Mabprachan 3 days ago show about less than 3% capacity
