  1. Nonsense. Most of the Russians are here as couples or with families. They spend more in a week than you do in 3 months. Plus they're big buyers of condo, meaning they'll spend more in one day than you do in 20 years.
  2. Me, too. Love those Russian hotties in their thongs out on the beach!
  3. You dunno? So innocent. The DOJ, FBI, and local AG thugs have unlimited funds at their disposal to intimidate, bankrupt, prosecute & jail.
  4. No, most crucially, after approved by MFA, it contains the official translation of your name that will be printed on the yellow book and pink card. It's entirely irrelevant whether you agree with the official spelling and wish to blow smoke. It's the one that'll be used ultimately to grant you an ID number. Your address in the yellow book/pink card is derived from your COR provided by Immigration and verified by two Thai witnesses. So, again the mind-boggling news: two entirely different documents, different information on each, different purposes.
  5. Their attitude has always been quite willing and they'll readily give you a list of requirements. Lot of nice ladies in that office. For me, anyway, but I'm a nice guy as well. The only question then is whether you are willing to meet them. Lots of expats have been, and are. But one man's piece o' cake is another's harsh discipline. Up 2 U, as we say here in Pattaya. Oh. You don't need to get the one translation of your passport from Bangkok or the MFA stamp. Pattaya translator can do all that for you. You will need to get the verification from the Embassy that the copy of your passport is a true copy, however. Me, I easily managed to enjoy my trip to Bangkok. Had some good food & drink, did a little shopping, enjoyed watching all the office ladies, and found some other interesting things to do. 'Course I could have done it all as a day trip from Pattaya, but I figured, why not have a change of scene?
  6. Sounds good. I wonder if this is about the best time to change some of my stash of USD to THB.
  7. Not sure about that, but they might make it a bit clearer who was at fault for the accident. What a dangerous intersection, glad I haven't encountered it. Presumably the Swiss guy knew the route (to his meds) pretty well, so should have exercised extreme caution right there. Not to blame him for the accident. Hope he recovers well.
  8. Who says it's tap water? Water trucks come around and fill up those barrels. Has been known to be lake water but who knows where else they got it.
  9. The morning of the day I went for my extension, I got the bank letter from Bangkok Bank and they simply updated my fixed deposit bankbook to print a new line on the day. NO problem at Immigration.
  10. Smaller targets are harder to locate in the brush. The rest should be easy, however.
  11. Yep, we're taking into this account and the wiser among us are trying to follow a health lifestyle to avoid chronic diseases associated with metabolic syndrome.
  12. When I moved my B800,000 from a restricted deposit account (for USA SS transfers) to a regular fixed deposit account, I just transferred the entire amount in one go at the bank. Subsequently, Immigration found no gap in my meeting the requirements and granted my retirement extension.
  13. Hee hee! Poop jokes are among our faves. Keep 'em comin'.
  14. The "bob smith" bot was doing well at that until recently. ISP may have cut it off for lack of payment.
  15. But have we tracked sales of water guns? Up, down?
  16. It's only mind-boggling that you've never noticed that your passport doesn't use the Thai spelling of your name and that it doesn't show your address. Yellow books and passports serve different purposes. Your post says more about you than about Thai bureaucracy.
  17. Nonsense. Banks will issue a credit card for you secured by a cash deposit (minimum may apply). The credit limit will be equal to the amount of the deposit. I had one of these for a while, secured by B50,000. I later worked for a Thai company and converted it to a standard card. After I left the company, the bank allowed me to keep it. I'd established a good payment record.
  18. They aren't going to tell you why. If you knew why, you could still do nothing about it, so it doesn't matter, and Immigration knows it. This is the case with all "whys" farang constantly voice about the goings on in Thailand. Thais themselves have learned to roll with flow. I'm assuming that after you go to the office the first time it's been consistently refused, the issue will have been sorted out so that online will work again for you. I could be wrong, but, again, it doesn't matter, just speculating. But the system isn't down for everyone nor for everyone who reports to a particular office. To address the other aspect of your point, yes, it would be nice to know, for reasons, if it will work again soon, but you'll only know it works when you try it. If it doesn't work again after a few tries, then you'll have to mail in your report or go to the office or just pay the fine at visa extension renewal time. (Some do choose that option.) Or of course pay an agent. It would be wise to try the online system as soon as you can within the 15-days limitation. Anyone can file the report at the office for you. I used to pay a motorcy taxi driver to do it for me. By mail, you'd at minimum to send in the form, but I'd include copies of the the passport and yellow book/TM30 as well. In my case, I suspect, though without any real reason, they wanted the last to verify my address. I've never filed a TM30, as I have a yellow book. True, they already had that info from my last visa renewal. But that's in a different computer, LOL.
  19. The system lacks coding to display any "additional security check" message for rejections, and perhaps with the added condition of only for particular cases. Further, IOs would be questioned about the reason for the security check, which could be different according to visa holder, and that would just mean additional overhead. The IO on the front desk doesn't even know. So that can still be the case. But it's only a theory. If my next online 90-day report goes thru, then that would lend credence. We'll never know for sure. Nor does it matter anyway. It is what it is.
  20. And of course you pay your Thai credit card bill from your Thai bank account.
  21. We've already had the "who has the most cash?" contest among all the others. Our top self-proclaimed winners should give it a break.
