" He'd arrived in Nong Khai on January 5th 2014 " Unusual to arrive in Nong Khai, unless he had been to Vientiane to get a new visa. ( possibly a marriage visa ). No mention of a wife or ex wife plus he was possibly living in rented accomodation. Which could mean he lost everything due to a bad marriage, as many farangs do.

Noisy neighbors in Thailand? This might happen if you complain
johncat1 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Even the country areas are noisy. Tannoy speakers blasting out Molam music ( ???? ) at 5.30 a.m. before the village head gives his morning gossip chat. And when they have village activities they hire a speaker bus, a brightly painted bus that has been converted into a giant loud speaker. The heavy bass beat shakes every door and window in the houses. But all these people are getting their just desserts because it is making them deaf, as they have to shout at each other now. -
Xi Did Not Shake Hands With Prayut ‘Because Of Covid Measures’
johncat1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The governments explanation about the failed handshake was total BS Xi shook hands with all the other leaders. If it was due to covid fears why wasn't Xi wearing his mask? Maybe Xi didn't like how Prayut was getting chummy with the Yanks, but that is just Prayut sitting on the fence again. There comes a time when you have to pick sides, unfortunately Thailand is not very good at picking the right side. They made a big mistake in WW2 -
Thai soccer fans will get to see all the 64 World Cup soccer matches
johncat1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Totally agree. American sports the players dress as if they are going to war with full body armour. They are afraid of getting hurt......Big pussies. Now a game like rugby which is a real man's sport and now it has been shown a game for real women too. They rely on skill to play the game and do not need to wear full body armour. Americans have to use brute force to win games like American football ( played with the hands not their feet ) and ice hocky etc. -
More than 2,300 journalists covering APEC meeting in Bangkok
johncat1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A chance for Prayut to preen his feathers and put on a show. But he is s**t scared protesters will ruin the day for him. This is a perfect stage for a protest with 2,300 journalists covering the event. Prayut will never be able to control this without force and the world is watching !!! -

Thai government defends foreign land ownership plan
johncat1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You could lose everything both ways. If your TG doesn't screw you ( financialy that is ) , the government could screw you. Better to buy a house outside of Thailand and just visit. It would certainly be cheaper and less risky. -
800K Baht holding Retirement Visa
johncat1 replied to chopowski's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Contact a visa agency, They can get around most requirements, for a fee of course. -
Invest 40 million baht to get a postage stamp plot of land. WITH strings attached !! Nobody in their right mind would invest 40 million Baht in such an unstable country where laws can change at the whim of the dictator. Anybody fool enough to do this can kiss their money goodbye, If the government don't steal it the banks will. Plus they will always be known as the ATM Farang, and never be treated equally alongside a Thai.

What about the speaker buses? Buses converted into giant loud speakers and often used for village activities. The bass from their massive sound systems makes all my windows and doors shake. The only consolation is all the people in and around the bus will go deaf or suffer serious brain damage ( if that's possible ?? ) But this noise is accepted by the authorities and the police, so nothing will ever be done about it. Presumably Buddha invented the Tannoy and sound systems and gets royalties on all sales.

What about the noise polution from car and pick-ups sound systems? Most of these pr**ks take delight riding aroud with the volume turned up and their windows open wide " look at me I have a loud sound system I am so clever " Of course a lot of this takes place in the evenings when the police are sleeping at the police station.

Being sentenced and actually going to jail are 2 different things in Thailand. He is probably free on bail pending an appeal, which could take years with all those charges against him. Even some convicted murderers who have been given the death penalty have been freed on bail pending an appeal. Crazy laws here. Most countries prisoners have to appeal from their prison cell ( through lawyers ) they are not allowed to be freed one sentenced.

Thailand abstained on UN vote to have its voice heard – FM Don
johncat1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What a load of c**p !! Thais have no morals, it is all about money . We all know Thailand always sits on the fence and grovels to get Russian tourists to come here. -
Bangkok only gets so many visitors because it is a transit point. Many of the people that go through Bangkok are just in transit to another country, and just stop off for a day or so to sample the flesh pots of Nana and Soi Sowboy etc. I personally avoid Bangkok as much as possible and never go there in the rainy season when it is under water a lot of the time.

Dashboard mounts for phones are quite common and people still take their eyes off the road to use their phone whilst driving. How can the police check on this? Also screens for navigation etc are quite common in modern cars and very distracting. I am amazed at the number of motorcyclists who manage to chat and text whilst riding their bikes, not easy with one hand and steering the bike with the other hand.

Thailand have shown its real colours by inviting Putin to the Apec summit in November in Bangkok. So Thailand are no longer sitting on the fence, they have chosen Russia to support. Plus of course all those rich Russian tourists and now Russian draft dodgers. All down to money and choosing what they think is the winning side ( Same with Japan in WW2 ) The Thai flag should be yellow with white feathers.

Thailand has the highest number of privately owned guns in ASEAN
johncat1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
These are just registered guns. All Thai farmers have guns of different types and I am sure very few of them are registered. The Thai gangster baby boys are highly unlikely to register a gun. These figures should be multiplied at least 10x to take into account all the unlicensed and un-registered guns. This is not taking into account all the home made guns that can still maim or kill
