  1. A friend of mine - a well to do American, loves Filipino women. His business is out of Honolulu but he lives in Manila 50% of the time. About three years ago he brought his Philippine angel to BKK. I met her and thought she was like a virgin angel (theveda in Thai). Well it took less than a year for him to find out she was turning tricks out of the Emporium while he was doing business. She also had a pua noi living in P.I. with two of her brats. She was about 23 and sweet enough to eat.

Well, after than, he took up with another Manila woman, but this time he put a dick on her trail (pun intended). She came out clean as the Ivory Soap girl, 99 & 44/100% pure. A year later he calls his home in Manila - no answer. Short version: My friend was positioned to care for either of these fools and their children. The second one thru her children's future away on a karaoke system and high dollar items stolen from his upscale condo.

    There is a lesson here.

  2. Can I ask a slightly off topic question: Why are the sentences handed out by the courts so lenient? I mean isn't going to prison supposed to be a deterrent to crime and if you are only sent to prison for a short time, where is the deterrent? So if people get such lenient sentences there is no incentive to give up crime? So if Taksin does return to Thailand and does get prosecuted, will he be able to pay money and not spend any time in prison? What I mean is some terrible acts have occurred and the people who did them get off with such lenient sentences that there is no incentive to give up crime. So why don't we all just become criminals and give up the poorly paid day jobs?

You mean like all the scum on Wall Street?

  3. Well..

    # You could buy their whole stock of alcohol every day as soon as they open..

    # You could invest in a number of beehives and place them next to the bar

    # You could start a business packing sour fish in the soi between 8:00 PM and midnight

    # You could let a portaloo company lease the place next to the bar for storage and repairs..

    # You could go to a hospital and ask them to remove your eardrums, after which you could open a business on Sukhumvit selling T-shirts

    # You could try to get one of those ultrasonic high-powered soundbeamers used for crowd control & Somalian pirates and shoot back

    like this one

    :)

Get some huge speakers and aim Barry Manilow at the offending bar.

  4. Baan Arjarn's on Soi Rangnam. Full Thai menu (food to die for), wonderful low volume jazz in the background and intimate seating in the rear. Prices? Moderate, not Sukhumvit rip-off rates. Open daily - just off of Rachada Prarop on Rangnam Road. Not to be missed.

    Tel: 02.245.2775

  5. Many people say you have to love the strategic thinking Thai leadership. Instead of trying to quiet the thundering tides of revolt and seeking conciliation, they create more by applying ex post facto crimes against PM Thaksin.

What do these “leaders” do? They label the hero of Thai democracy a "terrorist." It buggers belief. These people are playing right into the hands of the resistance. Thaksin, in his shrewd game probably welcomes this silly appellation. It only strengthens his hold on his supporters – who many say make up more than 55% of the Thai populace.

  6. Not to forget the disaster after the airport blockage of the Yellow Shirts two years ago...

Not forgetting. However, the damage from the reds is easily a HUNDRED times more severe and long term than the airport incident. Face reality. There is no comparison in severity.

One of the reasons the Reds held their rally with impunity was because not one Yellow shirt went to jail for their insurrection 18-months ago. In fact right now ASTV is back on the air spewing venom and vengeful rhetoric. So sad.

  8. Dear Thaksin,

There is no pit in hel_l low enough for you. Your role in the suffering of Thailand will be a permanent stain on Thai history. A human travesty.

I guess the red shirt leaders (and their cheerleaders here) are happy with what they have brought. And the trail all leads back to Thaksin. He could have stopped this 6 weeks ago but chose to put a quick stop on the offer of November elections.

  9. My wife and I plan to move to Trang or its environs the end of this year. Can anyone suggest a community or guest area for long term residents? My wife is Thai (dual citizenship) American. We are going to build a home in Trang, but need a place to stay during this process. We are both bilingual, so there is no language barrier. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

  10. If I were you, I would go to Jaeng Wattana Monday morning with all of your documents complete; TM-7; letter from your Thai bank; photos; and copies of your passport and all supporting documents, just like you did one year ago. Dress properly, keep a nice smile on your face, and if you speak Thai, be very condescending and respectful. And whatever you do, don't blame the insurrection - just say your embassy is closed. I feel you have a very good chance of getting thru this. Good luck, and don't procrastinate.

  11. It's called MANIPULATION same as the stock market. Do the opposite of what rational and you'll make a lot of money.

Actually, material wealth never vanishes. Case in point, the US housing market. All of the real estate is still there. These lovely new homes are still standing, but vacant. What has vanished are the debt bombs that created this wealth. So, extending this line of thought, it’s the promise to pay the debt that has vaporized. This same mindset works with money. Money, be it baht; pounds; dollars; or shekels, this paper is only worth what the cumulative gray matter between the ears of the holders believe it to be. It’s a confidence game.

Soon, if the Thais can’t find common ground, the baht will fall. The best gauge is the forex, or better yet, insider information on the Bank of Thailand’s balance sheet. The real one – if you get my drift.

  12. This is all so sad.

Some people say the proximate cause of this civil disobedience can be laid at the feet of the government itself - for failing to disperse the yellow shirts from the airport and government house, some 2-years ago. That omission gave a green light to these people.

Any support they had was lost when they savaged Chula Hospital. They would have been cleared weeks ago, in Beijing, New York, or London - and by non-lethal means. Riot police, humvees, water canons, gas, dogs, and mounted police.

    Make peace - Please!

  13. You are walking along - you try to anticipate the rhythm and direction of the Thais in front of you. You make your passing move - and like rear-view radar, the Thais move into your path. Most Farangs are initially confused and taken aback by this unruly walking code. The same applies to all common public movement in the Kingdom.

I, for myself, have embraced it. I hear a type A Farang clumping behind me and I (intentionally) enhance my Thai saunter. It feels good. Sabai / Sabai.

Next time, just slow down, and walk real....slow. Take your time, lallygag, and if with a friend; just stop in the street, in front of an escalator, or a BTS gate and start shooting the bull. You'll fit in quite nicely.

  14. Go to PC Pit-stop (on-line). and run the tests and do the housekeeping on your machine. I doubt if updates are eating up your memory or disc space. If you feel a bit unsure what to do, find a friend who is sharp on computers.

Hey, this is why they call them "Personal Computers."

  15. You better call home and get a one-way ticket back. If you are under forty, get back as soon as possible. Please don't waste your youth in Thailand. It has beautiful people and a wonderful culture - but for a working Farang, disaster.

Go home; work till you can retire, come back. Because if you don't have a British public education - this is a career dead-end.

    Good luck

  16. This sounds very nice and like a possible breaktrough ... Reds would be crazy to refuse after the bad days they had. However, with terrorists charges threatening and no mention of amnesty in his 5 point program, they might ask to have amnesty added as a number 6 prior to give in.

Yes I think this is a main point. Amnesty! Most of them out on bail already. Difficult question, but i think they must face justice, because many of their crimes is to serious.

At least they need to be responsible for all the financial damages they have caused. They also have to face criminal charges if they order killing or bombing that has happened
