  1. Absolutely correct - it depends on the depth of the well. The Government water is heavily chlorinated and in my area anyway, has a lot of iron in it which leaves a brown stain in the shower room and surely your whites will not be white after a few washes.. I would suggest you try to measure the depth of the well. Does it have a submersible pump or a surface pump? Submersible would suggest it is fairly deep but a pump at the wellhead would suggest a depth of less than 20m.

  2. Dont forget the munucipal tax. In chiang mai its 12.5% of the room rent. Thats why you will see a rent for the room, furniture, cable tv, security, comunal cleaning itemised seperately on the contract. Dont forget to include maid security in your costs. If you use government water its very expensive and most tenants are not used to that price so you will probably lose money on the water bill. Pm me if any more questions

  3. Copies and Clones?

Change the name "China" into "Japan" and see what you get...?

I've read those words thousands of times about Japan, some 30, 40 years ago and look where the Japanese are now. I never read anything anymore about copying by the Japanese. They invent and create, the same as the Chinese are doing now on a huge scale; copying is dying out in China and they KNOW they can't continue copying anymore.

People bashing China show themselves they know nothing about China or what's going on.

R&D spending is huge in China; the difference is that we hardly read anything about it in the western press.

About High-Speed train networks: there is NO other country in the entire world with such a large network with high speed trains than China.

Even Japan is behind mainland Europe and UK where Spain has the most sophisticated and largest network, above any of the European countries, even France, UK and Germany.

Let's not talk about the US which hasn't got any speed railway system to talk about and is far behind in high speed railway systems' technology but, of course, has a major lead in other technologies smile.png

If a railway network in any country is capable of transporting many hundreds of millions of passengers in just 2 weeks (!!) -Chinese New Year- in a sophisticated railway network with trains in the very last technology, that country is copying from other countries?

Which country would that be? Which other country transports such huge amounts of people in 2 weeks ?

No other country in the world!

And, thanks to the link by another poster:

"On a closing note, China not only has the safest passenger trains, but also by far the busiest tracks. Freight density beats that of the US and Russia and passenger density beats that of any European country."

    From: http://pedestrianobs...ve-rail-safety/

SO: let Thailand have the most sophisticated high speed railway network in SEA, ! It will benefit Thailand in a HUGE way!

But Thailand doesn't have hundreds of millions of people clamouring to travel between BKK and CM with no means of getting there rapidly and cheaply. There are plenty of flights with fares as low as B1090, and capacity to increase the number of flights WITH NO COST TO THE THAI PEOPLE.

Can you think of NOTHING more deserving of half a billion dollars in this country?

i think its the freight thats most important

  4. Im about to start a build in chiang mai and had thought to put cavity walls for the exterior. Have considered Qcon blocks but here they retail at 24b each for the 7cm block - dont know if that is expensive or not?

My reasoning was good insulation and also thicker exterior walls allow you to have windowsills which i like. However I am concerned about ants termites getting into the cavity and causing problems. In that case would single 20cm blocks be better? Also, whats the best way to insulate the floors and ceilings?

    Any comments please

    Thanks

  5. I've got a new click 125 for my city run-around. Has anyone else noticed very slow engine pick up when cold, almost to the point of being dangerous -- especially when pulling away from junctions? It's fine after 2 minutes riding. I mentioned this at the Honda garage at the 1000km service and got a shrug of the shoulders. My only other complaint is that the foot well storage peg is a bit too low.

Apart from these minor gripes, I am very happy with it, certainly a noticeable performance improvement over my old 110i and loving the extra storage under the seat plus the rocker switch opening which means no more faffing with keys at the petrol station.

I suspect its the auto choke. Mine is similar - just drive slowly for first 2 km

  6. I have now done 2500+ kms and very happy. Good speed and acceleration around the city, quiet, very low vibration so no sore bum on longer trips. Re economy i put just over 5 lit every 250 km to refill the tank. Only 1 niggle - I have the alloy wheels/tubeless tyres but still have to put air in the tyres every time i fill the tank - pressure drops from 33 to 22 psi in 2 weeks any ideas why?
