This is how a cheap full body respray was done on the wife's Volvo. At the insistence of the insurance company?

I have no idea. It appears that after six years no claims the wife was due a refund or could get the car repainted. She chose the repaint thinking the car would look like new. My wife can not tell the difference between a good job and a bad job. In fact she thought the car looked OK.

The point of my post was to point out the bodges that a cheap paint job entails and what  to look out for. And yes we know it was a scam between the paint shop and the insurance company.

  2. The OP uses the words good and cheap regarding repainting a car. In my opinion this is difficult to obtain in Thailand.

This is how a cheap full body respray was done on the wife's Volvo. At the insistence of the insurance company?

Car was extremely poorly masked up with over spray everywhere.

A sealer coat was applied to the factory finish which may or  not been flatted down.

The color coat was applied using a single pack nitro cellulose paint with single coat. No clear coat.

Color match was terrible due to uneven top coat applied allowing the white sealer coat to bleed through.

Car was painted with Toyota metallic silver instead of Volvo.

Car looked so bad I sanded it back to the factory finish and had it resprayed by a professional body shop using a paint booth.

  3. Surely you must have some idea as to why your neighbor has started acted like this. You say it was no problem in the beginning, so have you done something different recently. How long were you using their land before your troubles began. You mention you are running an NGO from your property. Is this recent? Does it involve extra noise etc? Has it caused an increase in foot traffic across your neighbors property? I noticed a clause about limiting numbers using their land. Have you started perhaps driving motor vehicles on their land. If it was me I would hold a meeting/party with your neighbors. Make sure to invite the village headman and try to come to a compromise. If they are hell bent on sticking to their plan at least you will know where you stand and can make alternative plans.

It also pays to take note of the Thai proverb. "Better to eat buffalo s--t than employ a lawyer"

    To cakm yourself,

    1. knock with a small hammer on the walls in different points. Light walls will give you loud eco.Concrete walls will give you light eco and you will feel the hardness of the concrete

    2. Take a light cordless drill with concrete drill and make few test drills. If it is concrete you will feel the resistance in depth of 3 mm. If it is light wall you will penetrate it easily. You can fix the hols with any putty.

I don't possess a light cordless drill. Is it permissible to use a mains powered drill?

  5. Reading on the making of the movie it turns out that 50% had to be filmed in the UK due to covid. Maybe that's the reason for the plot having to jump forwards and backwards in time which I disliked.

Surprisingly most of the filming in Thailand was done in Hua Hin.

  6. Vespa with book ,1983, 139,000 Baht  Sorry sold already.

I was a bit quick posting this originally. I have now had a close look at the Thai Vespa site and found there were 60 Vespas for sale from June 2019 to date and all are sold . One guy had 20 for sale, no books requiring restoration all now sold. Starting price was from 55,000 to 109,000 baht.

  7. Reading this reminds me of how much I miss my 3 month visa runs to Penang, Vientiane, and even Singapore to stock up on the condiments.

Colmans mustard today at Villa....156 Baht. Singapore Cold Storage ....123 baht equivalent. Good old Asda...39 baht.

    Branston Pickle                               .....188                                                         ....153                                                            ...60

  8. Yesterday I was comparing rentals in Penang and Bangkok. That's another story.

First Bangkok estate agent had a special offer listing. Two bedroom condo in Chit Lom for 20,000 baht month. Beautiful furnishing. Bit cheap I thought. Scrolling to the end of the listing found "This is a test listing. Please to not enquire about this listing".

Second agent had the same condo listed but this time it is in Phrom Phong same photos, same price.

Third agent had the listing in On Nut but at 40,000 baht which sounds more believable.

When I moved to Bangkok I never used an agent, but I had plenty of time to spare.

  9. Central World Bangkok. They had genuine Snap On chests among lots of imported. Shop is located on a high floor number.  Bring your gold amex card.

Always wondered who they cater for. Can't see a Thai who can afford a 2.5 tonne floor jack for 35000 baht doing there own maintenance.

  10. Little bit confused. Why do you need the same company to supply the fiber and CNC the parts?

Just buy the plate and take it to the machine shop.

10 years ago I did a run of Locost Carbon Fiber dashboards. My carbon fiber supplier rough cut to size the 4mm plate and a CNC company in Rangsit machined the piercings and finished size.

    PS

Ask mods to move to the DIY section. Maybe more knowledge there than here.

  11. As some one has already mentioned watch the lockpick lawyer open padlocks with ease.

Last night I watched on the internet a guy using a Raspberry Pi, a wireless dongle and a remote gate opener to open keycard door locks.

Do keyless cars and bikes use the same system as the door locks?
