  2. Not having the luxury of an air conditioned kitchen I devised this method for working with pastry.

I purchased a piece of granite that fits inside my freezer. I put the stone in the freezer overnight.

I use a tray slightly bigger than the stone with supports to keep the stone off the bottom of the tray and fill with ice and water.

  3. One of the reasons golf courses use this grass is it's low water quality and consumption over other commonly used fairway grasses, Around 20% less. To lay it correctly using the minimum of maintenance required in the future the following method was recommended to me. As mentioned this grass is invasive. A quick summary from memory.

Strip off all existing vegetation from planting area.

Replace with ????? inches of graded aggregate then sand.

Cover and seal area and sterilize with ????? fungicide.

Wick the growing area with vertical plastic sheet to a depth of ???? to prevent invasion from surrounding native vegetation or vice versa.

This grass is fertilizer critical not too little nor too much. Needs regular soil analyzing.

Must be regularly mown to prevent surface thatch.

    Grass is susceptible to disease.

The plus point is it makes a fabulous deep green lawn.

Would I recommend it for home use. No.

My seashore lawn lasted about 5 years before maintenance became too time consuming. I replanted with Malaysia broadleaf.

  4. The problem that the Republican Party faces is that if they stop supporting trump it is a certainly they will lose control of the Senate. If they continue support there is a very very slim chance they may hold on to it. They only thing the Republican Party cares about is hanging on to the Senate as their political survival depends on it.

In the 2016 election only 58% of eligible voters voted. Trump got 47% of that number. Trump's base support percentage has not changed since 2016. Using the 2016 analogy in 2020, a 3% increase in turnout will be a win for the Democrat. At the Democrat primaries some states recorded a near 70% turnout.

  5. There was an advert featured on US tv that shows all of Trumps Covid 19 misinformation. Nothing strange in that you may say except it was made and paid for my a division of the Republican party. Another advert called "Fox and Fiends" bought and made for by another Republican party offshoot showing all the misinformation they talked about. The reason is the Republican Party is trying to distance themselves from this Covid 19 mismanagement.

The former chief of the Republican Party presidential campaign was interviewed and said some interesting statements. One year ago the Republicans thought after 2020 the Senate could be 60 40 in their favour. Six months ago they were hoping for 50 50 with a Republican VP having the deciding vote. Today they say they will lose a minimum 4 seats for sure. As he says for the next 4 years it will be a Democratic House, Senate and President. He mentions this will drag the Republican Party into the wilderness,

The sad part is the Democrats will choose a candidate whose only gift is the ability to defeat Trump.

Still if Biden gets the nod he may choose AOC as his VP.

  6. You learn something new every day on TVF. I have only ever seen the round table start to convene at 1000am, so I assumed it was a day seminar. Now I learn that there is also a night meeting. Does the "thirst" for knowledge put such a demand on Phala worthies that a second shift is required. Can anyone join or is a secret handshake required?

PS. There were 9 joggers/walkers/dog walkers round EStar today.

  7. My wife's sister is a government officer. Her problem with foreigners is not disdain but the attitude from some, (mostly farang) that they seem to think laws and rules in Thailand do not apply to them.

I personally lay the blame for the anti farang sentiment at the feet of the VLoggers. Especially the one that featured Pattaya Soi 6 in all his videos.

That is because no one can afford to play a game there anyway.

I used to nip across to Batam, stay for 3 days at hotel, play 3 of the 7 beautifully kept courses, all meals. Total cost would be equivalent to one game in Singers!

Mind you, there are some well off people in Singapore!

I am a member of the Singapore Island Golf Club and pay the equivalent of 3500 baht per month (160 sing) in fees. Unlimited rounds, no caddie, no cart required. This is probably the best club in Singapore. Probably the same that you are paying for one round in Thailand if you have to use a compulsory caddie and cart. Unfortunately there is a waiting list for memberships at a mere 4,000,000 baht. (I bought mine in 1979)
