  1. After a few days of pavement pounding my girlfriend I are beginning to wonder if there isn't a better way to find the right apartment in BKK. We are looking for something in the 10-15k range for immediate move in. We would like a swimming pool, fitness room, close to BTS or metro, near a park, AC in both rooms, hot water shower (bath tub if possible), TV, kitchen (even a small one might do). Of course we have a few other hopes, but are these things totally unreasonable?

We have mostly tried looking around Victory Monument and some near Lumpini Park (Lang Suan and few others) . VM was too busy and Lumpini too expensive. We don't know the city tremendously well, but those seemed like logical places to start looking.

Do you have any advice for us? Do you know of a good area? How about any brokers or "apartment finders". I have searched the internet for them without much luck. Do you know of a helpful service or individual? We have looked at thaiapartment.com and few others... with out a lot of success.

    Any input greatly appreciated!

  2. I have grown quite fond of Krabi province, and I'd like to get a job teaching English there in March 2005. Does anyone here have any advice, info, links or anything else for me? I checked Ajarn.com with no results.

I am a 27 year old native speaker (American), but have no degree. I am enrolled in a TEFL course in Thailand in February. Do you think it'll be difficult to land a job 'right out of gates' in Krabi with no degree or experience? Or, could it be challenging for another reason (job shortage, etc.)?

    Thanks for your replies,

  3. Hey all I am an American citizen, and I intend to move to Thailand in Feb. Right now I'm reconsidering which visa to get. I had planned on just applying for a triple entry tourist visa here in Denver. I was planning to do it this way because everything I have read until now has indicated that you must be able to show an 'official' purpose for your visit if you want to get a 90 day multi-entry non-immigrant visa. But today I got this email from the local Thai Consulate in Denver, USA:

For the Non-Immigrant 'O' Multiple Entry Visa you will need to send us:

    1. Your passport

    2. Completed and signed visa application

    3. One passport sized photo

    4. A money order for $125 made payable to D.W. Ringsby. We do not accept checks.

    5. A self addressed postage paid envelope, Express Mail is recommended as we do not accept FedEx.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks,

    (Name Omitted)

    Consul Assistant

    Royal Thai Consulate General

Have I lucked into something here, or is the assistant forgetting something, or whaddaya reckon?

    Thanks,

    Daren

PS - I'm not gonna bring it to the Consulates attention 'til I hear back from the people here. So don't you either, please and thanks.
