  1. I have found thai doctors to be useless,

They prescribe anticiotics for everything. I had dry skin on my back, that was extremely itchy The local hospital doctor prescibed clocotimine for the skin and antibiotics, I left discugusted.  The next day I went to a private office and got skin moistuureiser and anti histamen for  infection, All was ell in 2 days,

I have had a real problem with itching all over my head, This has been for over 2 years. I had shingles and thought maybe this was part of shingles. But now afterover2 years of scratching day and night I think it is something else,. The doctors simpley give me lotions taht are uselesss. I apply 2 hours later I apply again, I live to put creams on my itchs. I get no sleep. The itching keeps me awake all night and day.I am exhausted.

Doctors just ignore what I tell them about the pain and itching and prescribe basic creams. that do  nothing for meI have decided if I cannot solve this problem in 3 days<snip>This is no way to live,I lay on my bed all day and try   to take care of my  problem. But all I can do is keep applying creams and lotions. I sleep very little, A half hour here  an hour here sometimes. Life offers nothing.

<snip> . I do not have a life anymore all I am is a medical case. I  have given myself 3 days to find a doctor that can help.<snip>

Just goes to show how far people will go when they cannot get medical   help,

  2. Wentto local post office yesterday to mail a letter to Canada. I was asked to show my passport. I did not heave it with me they so they ask for ID card I did have that so was able to mail the letter.

I think that is a little over kill to want to see a passport to mail aletter.

  3. For the first 20 years I came to Thailand I swore they were the most beautiful women around.

Now I am old I realize why I thought that

Back then the women were slim, submissive ,petite and well groomed..

Now i realize I never seldom looked at them above the neck line. It was all beautiful body and they did have beautiful bodies.

Now I  am older and look at the whole package. Their facial features can be not quite up to being beautiful. Not bad but not knock out pretty.

So the myth is a myth in my eyes.

  4. Never any problems in Bangkok.

But last time I flew  to Canada Canada could not give me boarding pass from Chins to Bangkok. In China I was called to  airline desk and told they may not let me go because I did not have a return flight to Canada.I told them I was retired and on visa extension. They still seemed unwilling to give me my boarding pass. So I had to show them all my past extensions in passport and present extension they finally said ok.

  5. I lived on Vancouver Island for 20 years. In that time I know of 2 boats that sank 1 was a j24  being a j24 that can be expected huh  the other was a small power boat.  If you wish to say a catamaran that flipped over was a sinking then 3 boats in 20 years sank.

In Thailand it seems to be a daily occurance.. Some days 2 boats.. Can anyone dispute that should make Thailand the hub of boats sinking.

People do need to know what paperwork to prepare. Especially those who have to travel some distance to the nearest imm office.

Some people do not have their monthly income deposited here but rather into a home country bank and then use ATM withdrawals. Others may do transfers but not monthly, only as needed, with the original income having gone into a home country bank. Etc etc. So preparing proof might entail a lot more than photocopy of Thai bank book for some. In fact, those using the ATM withdrawal approach might need to start saving all their ATM receipts....

I was one of the ATM guys for 10 years . I was to lazy to find another way to bring money. All I did for immigration was have a copy of my tax return notarized at my embassy  showing my income and all was fine not hard at all.

  7. TV  is the only forum I have ever joined. I have learned every thing I know about forums right here.

It seems to me trolls are the biggest problem. But after being in the forum for years I realized all of us when discussing some things can cause emotional reactions from others who oppose our views.

That said there are some to me that irritate me more than others and are very aggressive with their views. Some will arque it appears just to arque because a few months later will change their view .E.G. Junta supporters who for months supported them now say hey I want them out. So all their posts in the past were just trolls i would say.

So any way I am curious as to who each of us see as the posters that disturb others the most with their posts but cannot be called trolls. Just posters that get under your skin

  8. Can simply give money and tell the mother to buy the baby something. We had a new baby arrive next door yesterday. We gave baby shampoo, baby powder, baby wipes, and baby oil. We already gave them little baby clothes and protective gloves for hands and feet.

Actually, if the tipping culture of the USA is your biggest beef with the USA I'll chalk it up as a endorsement. You're welcome to go through the whole process to become a citizen so you can vote. However instances where the voters have voted to raise the minimum wage, such as in Seattle, has proven that the effect is not to create a living wage for restaurant workers but rather to eliminate restaurants and move the workers to the dole.  Only fast food, carry-out and very-high-end places survive. And the culture of tipping is not affected by the increase in the slightest.

You're also welcome to simply not visit.

This is your humble opinion of course.

    Wow,

Now that's unreal! Also, my God, I never knew they could make $300 a shift, that kind of tips the tipping culture on its head really......

That would be a lot of money if you worked five shifts of six hours, only 30 hours in the week!.......... we are talking tax-free of $1800 by what you are saying?

Yes thats right why are you shocked to find this out?  $300 is low many shifts break $500.

These are waitress's in lounge's, sushi restaurants, mid range restaurants nothing great working class customers going out on the town. Some shifts they only work 3 hours and take home $300. This is unskilled labour.

Think about it 4 guys go have a drink all tip $5 so tip at table $20.that is in less than a hour. couple go out eat and drink tip 15% on  $200  that's $30. So the waitress makes $50 off 2 tables in less than 2 hours. It adds up quickly. Many waitress's in these restaurants are serving 4 tables or more. all shift.

Tips at tables of more than 4  people can easily reach over $60 if it is a meal. with drinks included

  11. Tipping in Canada and USA is ok but it  seems they want a lot more than is necessary for simple service.

All the waitress's i knew were making $300 or more a shift and the shift would be 6 hours. How many of the customers were making that kind of tax free cash in 6 hours. Not many I am sure. People in north america tip way to much. For unskilled workers  and often mediocre service and food. Many waitress worked part time at 2 jobs and made real good money . working 36 hours a week. And crying to the customer oh we are only part time cannot get full time.

My nephew in New York had the tipping rates on the back of his business card to assist people in the proper tip %.. When the bill gets bigger the % gets greater. Can get to 35% real quick.

There are restaurants in Quebec Canada where the servers pay the restaurant to work their shift the tips are so good. They buy their job.

  12. There was a time in Thailand if you tipped  in a small mom and pop restaurant it was  possible to be given it back they considered it an insult.

Now the young people stand at the table waiting if all they brought was a pepsi.

I go to one coffee shop where they let me tip the workers. I get really good VIP service there too. Another small coffee shop I have to fight with the owner just to pay she always wants to let me have every thing free.

I only tip when the server was real good, polite etc. Or I was exeptionally happy with the meal.
