  1. I know how you must feel.

    This is what I heared:

    - indeed you can have 60 days for family matters ( bring your wife ) at the district office

    - with 100k on your Thai bank, you can have 1 year extension O at any Thai Embassy or 2x60 Tourist days with no financial proof

    - with zero bath you can fly back to your country of origin and have a 1 year O what you can extend with 1x 90 plus ( do the visa run before the visa expire ) the 60 as I wrote above

do not try to stay and pay 20k at the airport ( I had it once myself ) because now a days they put you in jail.

Other option is: find a job and demand a visa and a workpermit ( I question what is more difficult, find a job or save 400k )

I am in the same position, no cash, visa is done, does not want to fly back for a stamp.

    chok dee!

  2. It's how you feel about life. Tom boy lovers can be an extra fun part in life of the wife. Question is: do you as a farang accept this or not and if so, how far should is go? Next to this, you could be involveld with ladyboys. Does the thai wife except this???

I am not gonna say what you should do, Thai culture ( and thinking and values of life ) are much different then ours.

If the tomboy look sexy, I would sleep with 2 ;-)

  3. I guess that the Government is done with all problems what comes with these imports and illegal imports. Next to that they miss a lot of tax income too. It seems that more complicated issues can not be solved here, so they use the big ax to " solve " things. Why not make imports more easy, but have every vehikle be tested before it is allowed on the Thai roads? Keep strickt rules and procedures and ofcourse tax payments and payment for the inspection and testing. Tja.... it seems that we all have to drive a Thai eco car or a Rayong pickup. Arai ka dai.

  5. My wife has applied few shengen visas. There is no guarantee or financial requirements needed for spouse of EU citizen.

When we applied tourist visa before we were married i needed to provide letter stating that i will cover all the costs for accommodation and living etc. However this has nothing to do with temporary residence permits etc.

Your wife or her family can still sponsor or guarantee or whatever your 12 month extension by depositing 400k in the bank under your name. If your thinking just getting letter saying they will give you accommodation and feed you for a year forget it. Not going to happen.

All times my wife went to Europe, she has to be guaranteed by me or a family member with enough income.

Just a letter which say she guarantee me. No feeding and providing accomodation. Official letter.

  6. Marriage Requirements

    (6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Thx you. I know. BUT when the wife goes with me to Europe, someone need to guarantee her OR she might have enough money herself. So.... why shouldn't it be possible that the wife OR familymember guarantee me? It would be the same as she ( or family ) would deposit 400k. OR the Thai government think that there are no rich Thai woman?

  7. It is unlimited.

Some people try to say that some immigration offices may have a cap at around 4 or 5 extensions, but I've never seen anybody, or even seen reports of anybody being refused because they have too many of them.

I personally know people with just under 10 of these in a row so far, no problem at all.

They enjoy a nice drive to Cambodia from Bangkok, a nice splurge on some nice wines in the duty free (they actually save money on the whole deal by not buying these in Thailand).

They re-enter getting a 15 day stamp, then go to immigration with the wife and extend it for 60 days, with none of the hassles and hoops that the 1yr extension requires.

It's called the 'unofficial Marriage Visa' btw. Plenty doing it, never heard of anyone being knocked back since the rules were amended a few years ago. smile.png

    Please help me with this.

Unfortunally I had to stay longer then a year, so my year visa has expired. I went to the boorder for the 15 day stamp and now I would like to get me the 60 day extention based on marriage. Where should I go and is there a name for this kind of visa? How much does it cost? I am married to a Thai and I live in Suphanburi.

Thx for your help in advance.

  8. :) funny here!

I had no first date, but I can tell yo about my last date.

She act like an princess, but for real she wasn't honest at all, she was not pretty, but pretty old, naughty I must say. Educated yes, very funny too... almost idiot :D well.... she seems to suite me .

    So I married her.

    lol

  9. Hi,

Normally I never reply, I'm a reader, but on this one I would like to react.

    Indeed there are still a lot " old fashioned girls " out there, however nowadays there become rare. So I asked my wife for some advise for your " problem " and she said as follows;

    - 100.000 bath is not much, it depents on the status of the family, but she guess that your new wife is from a poor family, so the 100.000 is okay when the woman has no education. It is common you give gold aswel. Note that a good family gives the money and gold back to you after the marriage. If the girl has studied, you should pay much more, think of 500.000 until 600.000. IF the girl is rich you should think of 1.000.000 until 5.000.000.

    - the monthly support should not been ask, but I suppose she is from a poor family. But I guess they need the income, so it is normal that you pay for her family too. This you do together with your new wife. But I guess she does not have much income, so you give your new wife at least 10.000 a month, so she has money to save and take care of you and she will decide how much she will give to her parents.

Believe me, every situation is different. If you wanna have better advise, my wife need more details.

My situation is more crazy I guess. I married a older well studied rich woman, and mama ( she passed away already ) did not wanna have any money. She said " first I wanna have a million, but she is old already, so she is for free ". But if I see how things are running here, what we do and what I pay, it's more then a million each year. It's about sharing your life with them, taking care for eachother. My uncle in CM said always to me " the one with the biggest wallet pays " and even when there is a problem with an aunt or uncle, you pay too.

    GOOD LUCK and be HAPPY

    John

  10. I have heard that at BKK there is a very good shop, does everything. But I do not know what you wanna bore or tune. But concidering the cost it is often smarter to buy a faster car. Even here are the performance parts expensive. You also have to concider that we do not have 98 octane fuel. Perhaps it is an option to swap the engine?

    nanana.... no offends :)

  11. I do not agree with what you wrote. It is true that Thai people love Toyota and Isuzu, so therefor it is easier to sell. The economics are still down, even a stupid Fino is difficult to sell! Even at the Honda they did not dare to give me an estimate retail price because of the economics.

Friend [salesman] bought the Nissan Navara, the idea was 6sp would be better with high km use....

One year on he hates it, but the value is not good so cannot sell, so fears he will have to keep it for the full 48 months payments..

He says the main reason he wants to change, it is just to expensive to run..... normal use he cannot get more than 8km per 1lt of diesel...

He says if he drives slow and not over 90km then it is OK and around 12km per lt + Service cost are VERY high..

The D-Max is the cheapest on Service cost of any pickup... + 12+km per 1lt mixed driving and at 120km....... Maybe a good reason why most salesmen Private or Company vehicles are Isuzu

If your looking for a pickup for normal use then it is up to you what you feel is most comfortable for your own use..

  12. Hi,

I do not know what you want with it. What are your priorities? One thing is for sure, they all cheap. If you wanna spend a million, you also should concider the cost of the finance. If you do not care about that part, I give you some tips:

    - every dealer has it own promotions, it could be up till 50.000 bath what you pay more or less ( different province )

    - the chevrolet colorado drives best of all

    - the toyota has cheap spare parts, but high interest in finance

    - the bt50 of mazda is also worth looking at ( interior is great )

    - I like the Navara, great car for me ( I like the looks )

    - Mitubishi Triton.....well sure look at that one

    - Isuzu is cheap and drive like a tank

BUT..... IF you have the money to spare.... Mitsubishi Pajero sport.... 3.2 liter commonrail turbo diesel, 4x4 , but a GREAT automatic gearbox, sells at only 1.24 million. :)

    Would like opinions on the best option to go for out of the following;

    Isuzu D-Max

    Nissan Navara

    Toyota Vigo

Looking at double cab models and can't make my mind up.

Will be making quite a few long trips so comfort and reliability high on wish list

    Cheers !

  13. Hello Intj,

I found this topic :D:D:D on the net, because I'm concidering a same kind of project. I like the Navara sport truck, but I miss the V8 power. The LS 400 engine is a nice option. Do you know if it's possible that I use my stock 6-speed gearbox? If yes, do you know how much power it can bear? It was developed for a diesel, so it might handle lots of torque.

There are people around me, who tell me that I better buy a BT50.

    Regards,

    John :)
