  1. Once 20+ years ago some strange thai dude showed me a paper with something printed on ink-jet printer and asked for my passport. It was in Bangkok, Huay Kwang area. I asked him to wait so I can bring it down from my room, but he insisted to follow me into my room. On the way he kept asking questions about everything. Later it turn to be scammers - they took passports from farang-ding-dong and kept it for "Checking-up" until that poor foreigner paid some ransom.
  2. While the subject went to the 7th page and keeps running may I add this: Young Thais (20-30 ish) who came from their intensive study* abroad (whose parents were able to afford to send them there) developed certain superiority against average thais, thai culture, thai traditions and way of life. While we discuss how weird farang can look when he tries to assimilate into thainess or not, the really freaky ones are those uber-thais *intensive study - sarcastic reference incl. Evil Angel, Brazzers and other thai-friendly studios,
  3. Yep, they kept our friends for almost a day until they arrange trip back to hotel and pulled passports from safety lock + they pay policeman for driving 1.000THB on his private car.
  4. Foreigners bring diversity to thai society: Printing shop (rather factory) near MBK employs a foreigner engineer to watch after those huge Heidelberg's presses. Seems that the whole factory assimilated into him, not backward. He's a dutch with thick accent. So even girl at reception got it from him. Cute )
  5. Hm, now I understand why I'm so lonely ????
  6. Thai MFA pays first, later send bills to atendees accordingly. The whole process takes monthes, some countries play "not received your fax yet". Funny thing is that some hotels refuse to participate for security reasons, but generally its a big deal of money. And corruption.
  7. +100% true. Unfortunately local culture seems (sorry to say that) inferior for some folks. Although I thought its just different. To assimilate? Probably not, but 1 thing I think was pretty stupid not to learn thai language. It was pretty dumb thing. Thailand is not English speaking country, not even Tinglish speaking ...
  8. That #fakestory about Hashoggi was just hilarious! or sickening, however
  9. Well, it was fun: had online shops with PayPal payment system attached. Seems that it is over. Oki-doki, will switch to another credit card processor. They are plenty. Just visit their website and can't stop laughing: who wrote that? Oopsie: here is NDID address: Muang Thai-Phatra Complex, Tower B, 27th Floor 252/125 (A) Ratchadaphisek Road, Huai Khwang, Bangkok 10310 ^^^ basically next door. Worth visit.
  10. Dude in BKK lives on PTSD pension and he is barely 30-ish. Afro-american fella wasn't smart enough to complete public college, dropped-off, went to kill/slaughter folks in Afghanistan for few tours, received quite a lot of money on return, wasted all somewhere at mexican border, was too dumb to find a job, but he found a life-hack instead: PTSD! PS: Forrest Gump would look like genius comparing to that bloke.
  11. Get it str8: foreigners who unfortunately have to overstay (???) their permitted time in this country are NOT criminals. I've been here since Pulp Fiction and what I didn't witness was/is any criminal activity at all! Some had a bad time with money, some got problems with their passports, some were plain vanilla farang ding-dong detached from reality, drinking beer/moonshine with locals and watching time passes by. Young woman was departed and black-listed for 1 year. She is married to thai entertainer at Phuket, mother of 3 thai kids. She was charged 20K for overstaying her annual marriage visa (because she had to wait for new passport) and (yep) didn't do paper works at the right time. She was lucky that she found money to skip IDC, pay that 20K and one way ticket back home. She didn't hide, she went to Immigration office herself to settle fines and was arrested on a spot. What was her crime? It used to be 100THB/day, than 200, now it is 500 THB & black list threat. People rot at IDC, there're many "funny" diseases like TB. If foreigners are being treated like criminals for overstaying and "working" maybe some countries should apply counter-measures to thais "working" w/o any documents there? On the second thought - that won't help and change anything: these Draconian rules are not written but sane thais, but by bureaucrats, who probably went to study abroad and got overwhelming inferiority complex toward foreigners. Just feel sorry and angry.
  12. Rough Trader did centuries old bank. I reckon 1998? That was fun to watch )
  13. Pardon, but fakenews detected: There is no "anti-cybercrime police" in this Kingdom. Whatever the OP refers to.
  14. <deleted> "the met police" ??? IMO the overstayers and illegal entry migrants are the most harmless folks. Those who plan to plant a kaboom thingy will arrive with bulletproof alibi, clean visas and most decent entourage. meanwhile "Pol Gen Roy was officiating"
  15. Please add AST. our neighbor owned 2 adult one and a pup. Often he let them freely run around our moo-ban, in front of kindergarten. Cute, right? Freaking scary <deleted> - the owner - is some military kingpin... Later adult AST killed their young pup.
  16. Nope, not the price, but size. They keep falling off )))
  17. Maybe "safe and free" as opposite to "unsafe and often costly" ? I know private hospital at HK junction charges 6K for vacuum swipe.
  18. Yes, that was a huge burden to us watching our cat slowly dying from kidney failure. None agree to put him down. They claim some "Buddha".
  19. Ah, doctors in Thailand ))) favorite subject, yeah? Yes, the doctor, not a hospital. It is essential. St.Louis is a s**thole. They use students from med.school as nurses to practice on patients. Not funny when 19-ish y.o. trans comes at 6 AM to take a blood sample. Govt/Private? Doctor works 2 days at each and 2 days at his own med.shop. English? Each time I meet really well Eng-speaking "doctor" I wonder what else did he/she do abroad while studying? Thailand got its own pretty advance higher education in medicine. In Thai language. All terms are in thai and it would be very hard to learn them simultaneously in English, unless he/she [a student] studied abroad. But what "abroad" means? some fancy diploma from "International banana college" taught by same "teecha Steeev". Been there seen 'em. So well spoken English is rather an alarm, not a benefit. More on hospitals. Bangkok Hospital is a rip-off. Bamrungrad? Fancy-shmency. Rama9? My favorite for some unknown reasons. Christian Hospital on Silom - scary! That huge one near Ari MRT station Mario-something? Very friendly. Chulalongkorn Hospital near the park? very thai-ish, but good references heard I. Still - its all about doctor, not a hospital. Every body can take blood and send to test, do MRT or CAT. But not many can read it. I mean read it well.
  20. 8. P0rn addicts (89%) 9. Angry torrent downloader - rather like to watch than act (72%) 10. Using weird nickname (68%) 11. Thinnest skin - might ignite on simple fact "farang ding dong" (93%)
  21. Steal carpet from mouse, perhaps? Or copy 230 mln users UserID:password pairs to USB drive? Fart at kanteen? paint "Elons sux ****!" on the wall? My guess it was just wrong choice of word "escorted".
  22. forget about it
  23. 44 billion? Obviously there's some reason behind this purchase. But since DOGE/SNL/ToTheMoon stunts his acts seem weird and difficult to grasp. 44 billion? How they even come up with this numbers?
  24. Bet he will unblock that orange man, whatswashisnom? Tr-something?
