  1. From the Bangkok Post's "Letters To The Editor"

    Name creates a stink

As the odour of treason wafts into Thailand from Cambodia, it is fascinating to discover that one anagram of ''Thaksin Shinawatra'' is: ''Ah! A stink. Warn Thais.''All along, this whiff of a prophecy has been right under our very noses.

    JOHN SHEPHERD

    :D

Sigh. :) I think it says a lot more about this publication than about anything else. Anyway, good to see that Postbag guy being productive; I sincerely hope it kept him off the street! :D

Not even FOXNews would stoop to this level of childishness! ASTV, maybe!

It was a letter to the editor,

and not the canned bile of FoxNews,

which may be the most biased news source on the planet since TASS.

Yes, of course, but their decision to print it speaks volumes to the level of their integrity, intelligence and their political leanings.

  2. This is typical Thai again, overreacting and blowing things out of proportion, I be quite happy to go to Cambodia and have a nice holiday, the Cambodians must be laughing theyr heads of, I am sure Cambodian Newspapers will run comic strips on this issue.

Next the going to tell us, they have started to shoot Thais in the streets. As far as I know Cambodians are not as hotheaded as Thais that do things first and then think. :D

Do they have newspaper in Cambodia?

As not hotheaded?!? Isn't this sh6t hole the only country in history who commited an auto-genocide :)

There was a country just of east of France that did the same thing, and many others, unfortunately.

  4. The problem with the PAD rally is that they have already motivated the blue-blooded, rich, right-wing crowd who already own the govt. The PAD really has no one else to motivate. Sure they have financial, military and media backing; but there is really no more public support to be had. ASTV is already playing to 100% of its potential audience.

  5. I think these people getting all up in arms over the notion of Thaksin working hard, day in and day out at his desk, for Cambodia are getting their panties in a twist over nothing. So far, and I believe, in the end, his only goal is to cleverly keep Abhisit looking all whirly and girly locked in a cat and mouse game that Abhisit doesn't stand a chance of getting out of.

  6. Taking an alternative tact, one might ask hypothetically: if T-Squared was taken by Thai authorities and went through all the legal procedures and convictions.......would things really be any different? :)

Good point. Is the Abhisit government hanging by a thin thread which would be cut by Thaksin's return? My guess would be that in the hypothetical "capture" by authorities of the present administration, street protests would erupt while he was awaiting trial and "elites" would suffer by being named by Thaksin during trial. Of course, this is just hypothetical as I don't think Thaksin wants to return to face trial, and I think Abhisit wants a Thaksin trial even less.

The dance of Prime Ministers is entertaining. So far I've seen 13 come and go. But who's counting?

  7. I think the folks that blame everything on Thaksin and sing angelic praises of the PAD and Abhisit need desperately to understand your words.

People don't blame everything on Thaksin. That's in your head.

Nor do people sing angelic praises of the PAD. That's also in your head.

Some people simply don't like Thaksin. You seem to have trouble accepting that, and desperately look for an angle to attack back, seeing as you can't defend. There is nothing to attack though, so you end up creating this nonsense in your head.

So, people don't blame everything on Thaksin and no one sings angelic praises of the PAD? I think we agree! Yeah!!! I knew we'd find common ground one fine day...

From your last flippant comment, it looks like you're just a flamer.

As for your length of time in the Kingdom - how do you know how long I've been here ?

During my time I've seen 11 Prime Ministers (a couple of them more than once) and even more governments - now, what about you, in this truth session - or were you just flaming me too ?

Well, I haven't been here significantly longer than you. While I enjoy much of the banter on this forum, I find your endless accusations and name-calling boring and lacking in a Thai style friendliness.

  9. Sure, we blame the present government. But that has little to do with Thaksin. It's their lack of ability to govern and the manner in which they seized power and the unsavory alliances they have forged, but mostly just because of who they are, and who they defend.

Do you live here AWD ?

The reason I ask is because you don't seem to know a lot abut what is going on right now.

As Hammered said to you, you always seem to be be prattling on about past issues.

Then, when you are are challenged, as you were in an earlier post, your answer is "whatever"......that's not an answer.

Anyone who lives here, knows this is fast spiralling into a major catastrophy.

There are no textbook answers, or texbook reasons, as to why we find this country, on the verge of falling off the cliff.

Sure there are particular events - including some which are difficult to comment on - which can be sighted. But, it is over simplistic in the extreme, to isloate one thing such as the coup and it's results. It's far, far more than that.

It's also on both sides - do you hear me ?

The causes are on both sides !!!

It's obvious I've been here far longer than you have. That said, I agree with you, at least in this post. I think the folks that blame everything on Thaksin and sing angelic praises of the PAD and Abhisit need desperately to understand your words.

  10. It seems that Some are distrusting anything said in the News (especially from The Nation)...unless it comes from the Red camp, then the allegations must be true. And the reporting spot on.

How can you trust The Nation without using your critical faculties? Just this morning they reported that the Cambodian Embassy was in Phnom Penh instead of Bangkok. Admittedly, on occasion, they have got a story straight. But, as with any news source, especially out of a censored country such as Thailand, the rule is READER BEWARE!

  11. Unfortunatly true. But who will move Thailand to a stronger democracy? And by when? 100 years?

The short answer is none of the current players and so it will be a long time. First, the people must realise all of the current players are not going to do so. Then things will progress. There are no short cuts. History shows us that those who follow the first you and then us tactic are consigned to failure. People must recognize and see the true nature of poltiicans before anything can be done.

Couldn't agree more. A certain amount of dismantling is required before reassembly can begin. That's what is so refreshing about Thaksin's mosquito-like harrassment of the Abhisit non-government. To be sure, Thaksin is better in this role than back at PM.

  12. I love Thaksin, he is such a vile human being, that it makes those defending him fun to torment. Someone said something like there are 15 million red shirts right now in Thailand. That made me laugh.

Your banging your head against the wall torments no one but yourself. Be kind to yourself always.
