  1. Interesting - thank you for the idea - but I have hundreds of bamboo to cut and lots of bushes and longan tree trimming. A friend of mine just told me "Electric ones are nice and light but like a toy not taht useful..." I am now looking for a gas one that is around 11 inches so I won't need a license.
  2. https://www.homepro.co.th/p/1096835 Looking at the above not sure about the size and specs... Or maybe this: https://www.homepro.co.th/p/1115818 Not looking good so far, not repaired in Chiang mai (local for me)
  3. For many years a license has been needed in Thailand I think 12 inches and above but not certain...
  4. Basically we are doing that now with a machete - Thai style - works and easy to sharpen but not quick enough and good enough for many bamboo trees...
  5. Chalawaan, Thank you for your ideas. I would be very hesitant to buy something with moving parts from Amazon as quick service is important to me...
  6. Best Tool to cut Bamboo trees and Longan branches? I have maybe a thousand trees to cut... I like the idea of an electric saw but have been told the owner only lasts a short time and batteries are expensive... I don't want a large saw that needs a license. Need a name brand that is easy to find parts for. I am in Chiang mai - any ideas?
  7. That says it all. It always amazes me how people with little or no science background think they know more than those trained in the field...
  8. You are probably both correct. Which means that masks are not a perfect answer but they help. There are lots of gray areas in life, and safety is important when you are in a high risk group or in contact with those in a high risk group... Unless you are not concerned about senior citizens and those who are ill... Or have no contact with those folks...
  9. I got it now - you are not serious just having fun with your posts...
  10. You must live near a great immigration office - this is good. I have in the past spent hours sitting and waiting. And as I wrote before I have children who I need to pickup from school and can't be late ever - that's how I am with my kids - spending a very small amount of money to take care of my family is how I live my life - we may very well be different - which is OK as that makes the world interesting...
  11. Correct. Again some of us work long hours and have a family that we spend all our free time with and other activities... Time is a limited resource and the cost for services in Thailand are a fraction of back home so in short a deal...
  12. Exactly- paying for the service is a good idea. Some people can't afford to pay extra and have extra time - and I understand that - for myself I like having an agent do the paperwork but I really need the appointment they are able to get for me in and out in a few minutes - as I am working and have children to pick up - drop off at school. (note talking about my annual visa extension)
  13. Reconditioned is not good. Do you have any battery shops that you suggest?
  14. Thank you! I agree with you... I will go to a small friendly shop that can do it while I wait. Waiting a week and two trips is expensive for me as I am busy with family life and work...
  15. This thread is becoming very interesting. I am giving serious thought to trying to do this myself. I am not a technician but I can replace a toner cartridge in a laser printer - is the complexity about that level? I will do a Google search... If I can do this saving money would be good but the feeling of accomplishment will be even better! Note - I am not technical so this will be great for me... smiling! Many thanks for the idea!
  16. I misunderstood - thank you! "One tenth" I like the sound of that... Does he also speak English? And can he fix Apple computers?
  17. Thank you. I shop at Rimping so the next time I go I can visit that store. They used to have a watch repair place there maybe same shop?
  18. You are correct. But I don't think of it that way -instead I wonder what the replacement cost will be?
  19. A good point I wonder if apple will replace a battery on an old phone...
  20. iPhone 8 battery replacement in Chiang mai - cost and where? I am near Sansai. I have an iPhone 8 that works fine but the battery is old and loses its charge quickly. Thank you!
  21. Completely agree. Also some are at a high risk - so even if vaccinated should be very careful.
  22. Sounds like you have had some bad experiences with AC units which is different than what others are posting. I wonder your ACs were not name brands such as Carrier and Daikon? Could that explain the difference in experience? I have around 15 units in my office and home and almost never have a problem with once a year cleanings and the guy who comes out to do it only suggests once a year and he would suggest more often if he thought it a good idea as he makes money from the cleaning...
