  1. I have seen people wearing the same protective, surgical mask that would have been used for the coronavirus, while sanding sheetrock (gypsum board), which creates large size particulate that you can see floating in the air. When the worker takes the mask off, you can see the particulate dust in their nostrils! Yet, it is supposed to catch a virus you cannot see? Glad to see it's almost universal with not requiring them in my area of the U.S. in southeast Pennsylvania. A few weeks ago I went to a medical clinic to drop off a document. The security guard went off like I was committing a criminal offense when I did not walk over and grab a mask. The lady behind the plastic barrier refused to take the paper that I proffered through the 12 x 5 inch opening at the bottom of the barrier until I put a mask on. I put the mask on, the lady took the paper, I took the mask off and walked out the door . They called me up 4 days later and told me to return and pick up the document. I walked in, no masks, no barriers!
  2. It wasn't the summer of love for me, it was the summer of basic training in the Army.
  3. You pose an interesting question. Where is your internet access server located? That might have something to do with the response you get. My search response is not just 5 years old either. Some of it looks like it goes back to the riots of the 60's, judging from the black and white pictures. Mine, according to the vpn I use, is in the United States. If yours is in a different country, tell me which country and I will switch my vpn region to that country and see what response I get. That looks like a screen shot of a mobile phone. If it is, that causes me wonder if that makes a difference too. Would the OS platform make a difference in your search results? My guess, if you are using a mobile, is that it is an iphone. I am using a computer with Win10.
  4. I have recovered more baht than that from the floors and sidewalks of Thailand, when I am there.
  5. Riots, like these! https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=riots&form=HDRSC2&first=1

  7. Nah, like I wrote, I would have been taken to China or the Soviet Union, probably held in a stone or concrete prison, and interrogated every day until they knew I had nothing else to tell them, then executed! None of that Chuck Norris fantasy BS!
  8. I liked married with children. I like British comedy too. Some of the other Americans that watch British comedy with me did not think it was funny. Perhaps a little too subtle for them. Some of it made me laugh till I nearly pissed my pants!
  9. You mean, if it actually happened? It did. Read it again. I just did a little edit but still the same information If the company had found out what I did, I would have been in front of a courtsmartial board!
  10. Came near getting kidnapped by Thai communists outside of Khon Kaen back in New Years time of 1973 , when I was working at the intel base outside of Udon, and went on an in country leave. I recognized something wasn't right during a not too subtle questioning by a group of about 12 - 15 men and kept repeating that I was just a clerk typist and didn't know anything about what was going on at the base. Still scares the cr a p out of me when I think about it sometimes. I could have ended up China or the Soviet Union and no one would know what happened to me.
  11. I don't know about when the first one happened, but I met a guy in Houston TX in 1978 that complained bitterly about being denied a sex change operation. He claimed the psychiatrists did not think he was not a good candidate for a sex change operation due to his mental state.
  12. I used that quote a few times when I was younger and had both weed and money. Then went through extended periods of hard times with no money and friends who shared weed. As I found out, the during the times with money and no weed I was much better off than I was during the times with weed and no money!
  13. $80.00? $80.00?!?!?! I have been scammed! They told me $1000.00! ????
  14. Does this make it credible? https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/03/health/internet-use-dementia-risk-wellness/index.html
  15. You guys should have seen what Udon was like back in the 1970's! Outside of the main road, Udon streets were mostly dirt, which had changed from the 1970's. I don't know what it is like today. I think the last time I was there was more than 5 years ago. Not sure when I will go back. The biggest reason I haven't been back is wife and family traveling to other places in Thailand when we are there. I don't know if I have time to go there this next trip in the coming summer months (U.S. of A. summer time). I have a lot of nostalgic memories of the place.
  16. You made the claim that I mischaracterized something. Did I say that someone would be sentenced to 10 years for falsifying a 4473? Is that your claim? Yes, there is potential for a 10 year sentence. But that is up to the desecration of the presiding court. If the presiding court says, time served, then that is compliant with the law. I would say that you are the one that is beating the poor dead horse. Again, I did a copy and paste. I mischaracterized nothing! As I quoted in my last post, the ATF states, "may also face", and emphazied that "It does not say, "shall face"." Having been a Federal Agent that enforced federal law, I understand the difference. From the cornell edu website: "The word “may” is an expression of possibility, a permissive choice to act or not, and ordinarily implies some degree of discretion. This contrasts with the word “shall,” which is generally used to indicate a mandatory provision"
  17. Again, what was it I mischaracterized? I copied and pasted. The only thing I wrote, was, there is this and I mentioned the highlighting, which is on the ATF website, but did not follow the copy and paste that I did. Everything was directly from the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, federal government website. This, " Applicants who knowingly make false statements may also face criminal prosecution for a felony and up to 10 years in federal prison." statement is not mine, it is the ATF's statement! It says, "may also face". It does not say, "shall face".
  18. Back in late 1972 I met a 14 year old American teenager outside of Udon Thani. He traveled to Thailand with his parents on vacation. At the end of the vacation his parents went back to America and left their son there, because he wanted to stay longer. They would send money to him as he needed it. When I met him he had just traveled from Vientiane. He was living out of a backpack.
  19. Yes. It much more of a pain when I used a pocket watch. Move my jacket aside, fumble to pull the watch out of my watch pocket, look then fumble to put it back inside the watch pocket. I was told I should use a watch fob with the pocket watch. Sort of like trying to get the time from a cell phone.
  20. How did I mischaracterize a copy and paste job?
  21. An indian guy tried to sell me a Rolax one time.
  22. I like wearing a watch. Partly from habit due to wearing one for the last 60 years. Partly so I don't have to dig out a cell phone, from a zipper closed pocket or bag, pushing a button to light up the screen and display the time, then putting the cell phone back into said pocket or bag and zipping it back closed (zippers used due to past experience with pickpockets in Thailand). With a watch, I just raise my arm a bit, turn the wrist, and wala, there is the time. Takes all of 1-2 seconds, vs. the fumbling around that is sometimes required to look at a cell phone.
  23. My opinion of 3 letter agencies? I worked for one. Can you trust me? ???? Seriously, I don't trust the leaders that achieved their position more from political connections than from good work, especially when it comes to the GM (General Manager) jobs. I think it is at the GS-11 or 12 level and above, the employer must post an announcement for a vacant position, as required by law. I know of one case where a guy was told he would be moved into a regional director position, which is a GM position (as is the supervisor of an office within a region). He became upset and made verbal complaints to higher ups when he saw that the job was advertised, but he was reassured, it doesn't matter, you will get the regional director job. This guy was known as a brown noser and a back stabber and was not one of the better agents, in regards to his work. Several agents either transferred to different regions or put in for retirement after he became regional director. Some of the people that stayed suddenly had bad work reviews when previously they were getting bonuses for good work. I haven't thought much about whistleblowers, so don't have any opinion that I am willing to post right at the moment. I, myself, am always concerned about the leader of some agencies and was for the last 15 years of my active employment. I am not unlike many other American citizen's.
