  1. Just a taste of the violence to be expected if the loon gets elected. But it won't be limited to fisty cuffs.

    Don't worry. We'll stop him. 1zgarz5.gif
Jingthing and Act Up have him in their sights.
What I meant was a coalition of patriot Americans who will unite in strength to oppose a hostile takeover by the psychopathic demagogue trump. Our numbers are greater and the motivation will be there. His brand is hate. Make America Hate Again. No!

If you are the majority, why don't you just vote!

  2. This is of course bullshit. Insurers don't sell across state lines now for a number of reasons. It's not a regulatory thing, it's a financial thing. Insurers need to negotiate with hospitals and doctors with in the various states, not a one size fits all thing.

The main thing is this Trump proposal ends Obamacare and that's the main thrust of this bullshit.

    New York Times 8/31/15

"Right now, the Affordable Care Act sets up some minimum standards for insurance plans sold everywhere, but since the Republican proposals include repealing the law, those limitations would presumably disappear."

So, "selling across state lines" sounds reasonable but it's not practical. For the low-info Trump lemmings it's perfect! Making the Affordable Care Obamacare better more useable is the way to go, but you know, you're dealing with Republicans who have voted 60 times to try and kill Obamacare.

Nothing new here folks, move along.

So, you believe that only 1 proposal out of 7 won't have the desired effect. Not bad. Also, some people think it will make a difference, other's don't - so it's not really bullshit. Perhaps it won't work and the barriers aren't legal and are instead regulatory or simple laziness by insurers.

  3. Now we know why many ordinary Americans want the right to carry a gun...

So that they can point it at an officer? What are you thinking? If idiotville didn't have the gun the incident most likely wouldn't have happened.

Here is the sentence regarding the second amendment. Today, where is the regulated militia in regards to everyone carrying a weapon? This is where long ago the "right to bear arms" went totally astray.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

and maybe the police officer shouldn't have escalated it into a shooting? Sounds like a good situation to stay calm and return later. It's just an eviction. Maybe the entire US police force needs retraining.

  4. The amusing part is that they don't believe they did detonate a hydrogen bomb, yet are going to introduce more sanctions anyway? Seems inconsistent. Perhaps they do believe, or maybe they just want an excuse to implement a new sanction. More than I know for sure.

Well laughing guy, the sanctions would be for having carried out ANY nuclear testing.

Whenever N Korea decides it's time to jack up its "food aid" demands, it carries out a nuclear or ballistic missile test. There's an initial int'l round of expressed outrage, followed by a nice satisfying dessert cart of appeasement. 'A pretty well-oiled act, and I'm sure this time KJU is salivating over prospects of an Obama nuclear "deal".

Good point. The US could have been more clear in their statement (or my comprehension skills need sharpening) that they doubted there was a hydrogen bomb test and instead that it was just a regular nuclear explosion. I read it as disputing a nuclear explosion at all. Your interpretation is the more logical. I also had never made the connection between some military test and subsequent aid packages. Sounds like an effective strategy. Thanks.

  5. Liberals really can't stand Trump.

Why not let all politicians have their rallies free of disruption by those with opposing views?

Because some people mistake their beliefs for the absolute truth and believe that it's their duty to use any means necessary to make sure their beliefs are imposed on everyone else. Now add in the "the ends justifies the means" and you have a recipe for any behavior or action. After all, they are doing it so truth can triumph. I'd suggest that those people disrupting the rally are anti-social and they definitely need to re-examine their mental state and their view of the world. This disease isn't limited to Democrats in the US.

  6. One more stupid, undocumented, comment from the Donald

documented elsewhere. It's an unfortunate consequence of US foreign policy that the Middle East is paying for. It's also a failed strategy. I'd say that Obama and Clinton don't get to shoulder all the blame, Bush was in charge during part of the inception of ISIS (ignoring the whole fake WMD fiasco).

  7. My observation is that 20% of farangs living in Thailand and Cambodia are peadophiles.

They cannot resist the temptation to have sex with little girls or boys.

Take care of your children! Beware of peadophiles!

I think you should reconsider your circle of friends/acquaintances and hang out with different people. No offense to pedophiles, who I am sure are often nice people who do horrible things. Of course I should acknowledge that perhaps I am naive and 20% of my friends are pedophiles too, which would be very shocking and surprising.

  8. Look. Anyone can invite anyone they want to come for a visit. Nothing wrong with that at all. These two people happen to be politicians. If they want to discuss Thailand they could always Skype, though meeting in person over dinner is always more enjoyable. If Yingluck doesn't go, I would hope that she would extend an invitation for them to visit her in Thailand. Seeing the country in person would also be a great way to understand the situation more.

  9. It's disappointing to hear about the requirement to transfer the tourist visa. That is my situation exactly and I went to ChiangMai immigration Wed (Nov18,2015) and was told that it wasn't necessary to transfer my tourist visa, to just take both passports on my way out of the country on Sunday. Immigration closes for the week in 5 minutes, so I may be stuck at the border longer than I expected. Sigh!

If you will be crossing on Sunday they will do it at the bridge since the immigration office will be closed.

CM immigration did what many offices do. The are not aware of what they do at Nong Khai.

They did do it at the bridge on Sunday, though they were VERY unhappy about it. I would highly recommend having it done at the nearest immigration if anyone else is ever in the same situation.

  11. Well if they can not figure a way to prevent oil being trucked out of a oil supply depot, nor how to block anyones access to funds in financial institutions private or public that have supported ISIS in the past they better have a good sniff of pure oxygen to clear the cobwebs from last night.

Give Russia a break. It's taken the US more than a year to figure out that bombing the oil trucks would stop them - or maybe they already knew, they just didn't want to.

  12. I too think it sounds as if the officer overreacted, but I disagree with those who say it wasn't (technically) a police matter. If I read it right it sounds to me as if the girl was committing the crime of trespass.

I was once in court on a different real estate matter and observed a young man being arraigned for criminal trespass. That defendant didn't believe he had trespassed for his own various reasons. I'll never forget what the judge told him. He said "There are only two kinds of property in this world. There is your property and there is 'not your property'. It's up to you to know the difference".

When someone such as a school has the care, custody and control of real estate and in this case a school, they can exclude anyone else from the property. The moment that girl refused to stand up and leave the room she technically committed the crime of trespass. Yes she did. Right there it became a police matter and the officer had a legal duty to remove the girl.

I totally disagree with how he handled it. I think he should have, after exhausting pleading with her, simply cited her for trespassing and summoned her to court to face the charges. That's IF he felt he needed to play rough. Then if she failed to appear at her court hearing she would have been arrested for that. The escalation could have gone in steps until she learned that she had to obey authorities in the school and with the police.

As it is I think the police have egg all over their faces for acting too quickly with too much force rather than citing her and giving her a chance to wake up during the delay before her hearing.

    Cheers.

The republican negative conception of political liberty of course does not extend to black teenage females apparently.

"Republican freedom merely requires the absence of something, namely, the absence of any structural dependence on arbitrary power or domination"http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/republicanism/#RepVerNegLib

Furthermore, your apocryphal judge did not include the idea of public property in his world view. I guess because that is a liberal concept. However, a school is an agency of the State, a State which requires mandatory schooling for children. It cannot exclude children from that requirement without due process. The idea that a child loses legal rights on the instance of non compliance with some instruction is insane. Perhaps you might demonstrate where that has been tested in law? As a student enrolled in that school she had every right to be there and the removal of that right is subject to legal protections and requirements for due process.

Finally, it is universally accepted that schools and individual teachers are in 'loco parentis', meaning that they take on the role of the parent in terms of having a duty of care towards the students. The teacher, administrator and all persons involved in this incident had a responsibility to treat the individual with respect and as a person who is there to be educated. In this case, the math's teacher can shove his calculus up his clacker and should have acted like an educator with a responsibility towards the development of that child.

I just don't get why people who call themselves republicans don't actually live by or apply republican principles to situations in life. I guess that's what the tea-baggers are about.

Do you know for sure that NeverSure is a Republican or are you just guessing because he advocated not using force?

  13. Why choose to live in a Buddhist country and start planning 10 weeks ahead 1 meal that celebrates a pagan/christian festival?

I've never got my head around this sort of thinking.

So I guess only Christians should be living in Australia, only Buddhits in Thailand (the muslims here probably think differently)?

My opinion is that it's fine to live in any country and to practice any religion or none. If I want to celebrate my birthday, christmas, hannukah, ramadan, whatever. No problem, no matter what country I am living in. To insist that don't live the way I want (without infringing on others) is just wrong thinking. I think you need to rethink your need to tell other people how to live.

And yes, I am telling you to live the way I think you should by telling you that it's not necessary to put everyone into a box, or to put a country into a box.

  14. Too bad US opinion means less than zero in this situation, no matter how they try to spin it in the media... Russia was invited by Assad to defend Syria from US sponsored terrorists, both "moderate" rebels and ISIS... Of course the US is going to disagree with Moscow's tact in taking out their flunkies... This is a lose-lose situation for the US...

    "US sponsored terrorists"??? cheesy.gif

    craziest post ever?giggle.gif

What are you quibling about? A sponsor would be someone who funds, arms, trains a group. Al Qaeda used to be considered a terrorist group, so it's not too much of a stretch to continue to call them terrorists. So US sponsored terrorists is a reasonable description.

It's the problem with the "enemy of my enemy must be my friend" strategy, especially if the enemy of your enemy is also your enemy.

  15. The writers of news are just getting worse and worse.

Recalling an ambassador is only in the gift of the ambassadors home country.

An ambassador may be invited (or if you need to, summoned) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the host country.

Very unusually, an ambassador may be asked to leave by the host country. But that is not recalling!

Usually, when relations between countries get really bad, the ambassador's own country will recall him before it gets to being asked to leave the country.

Actually it's the headline that is just plain wrong. The article says that Turkey summoned the ambassador again. Presumably to complain again.
