  1. I renewed my Retirement Visa a few weeks ago. All that was required was letter from bank, picture, form filled out and of cause passport. Oh and a couple of photo copies of P/P, + the 1900bht cost. Done in less that 30 Min: from walking in at my local I/O.
  2. Well I can only hope your very young or someone else will be reaping the profit.
  3. The OP needs to get a bit of reality. First off go on line look and see how many condos estate agents have for sale or rent. (There are thousands) You will find that they cant give condos away at any price at present. So how can someone guarantee 8% return. Buying a condo in Thailand is a mugs game. If you fit the later go ahead and do it. Just don't forget to tell us how much you loose after 5 years. N/B you can get 5% guaranteed return at present by just putting your cash in most UK banks. That could even go up to 6% if they put the bank rate up yet again. Before anyone questions it that's what I'm getting 5% it's fixed for 1 year, You can always get your monies back at any time but you will loose most of the interest. Whatever its better than investing? in Thailand.
  4. I drive a Tuna 2.8lt cost for diesel is around 1.5/600 BHT. I have never worked it out exactly but I do know that I can do 1000km for 2kBHT so a bit of a guesstimate. I left BKK just north of The old airport so not central. As the 1/32 A/R is a 120 kph road, I do tend to hammer it. Hence the reason I leave at around 10am as I miss the rush hour. Thank you for the info on how much it cost and time taken in an EV.
  5. I quite often do this trip I use the 1/32 A/R to N/Sawan that's a 120kph A/R I get to Kamphaeng Phet in 3.5 hours. Also traveling at 120+kph cos there are no cameras. C/M is another 3.5 hours Depending on traffic. I do have the odd stop for coffee as well. There was a real reason I asked this question as I pulled into a coffee stop and there was a EV already on a charger. My stop was for around 15 min: and the EV was still on said charger when I left. How long it was on that Buddha only knows? just plaid on my mind. How long it took to do a run and what was the cost of charging.
  6. I have just done a trip from BKK to Chang Mai left at 10am arrived at around 5pm, took me 7 hours including stops. That was after a splash of diesel to fill up when I started off. Question How long would it take and cost in an EV. Then again. Could you even make it in daylight??? This is not a joke I'm being serious.
  7. When I got my last car from Toyota all they wanted was proof of address/passport. I had a yellow book so that sufficed. But you can get proof of address from Immigration. Takes around 10 min. My local I/O charges 300 BHT for same. I required one to get my new D/License a couple of months ago. Toyota did the rest. I just gave them a B/Draft for the monies on the day I picked it up. Simple.
  8. Interesting I live in Kamphaeng City and I only know of two chargers and they are both at Robinsons. If they are fast ones Buddha only knows. I quite often do a trip to C/M some 4 hour drive from me, I have always found it hard to even find a decent restaurant or even a good coffee shop on that route. Maybe things are changing.
  9. I didn't say that diesel was best. I just inferred that it was much easier to go on long distance trips than an EV. I'll agree that around town you can't beat an EV. But on some occasions one needs to go on long trips. That's when they full down. I can't think of anything else worse than driving here and having to plan a journey seeking out where the next charger will be before you run out of Electric.
  10. So in other words it takes 30Min: to add 60% charge to the car you drove. So my daughter isn't far wrong when she stated around an Hour. N/B in that hour I could have been 100km further down the road. Sorry but you can't change my mind.
  11. My daughter has two EV in the UK and she tells me that they take around an hour to charge from around 20% to 90% on a fast set up. Miles longer on a slow charge set up. They lease them in the UK that's only because it saves their business loads on tax.
  12. If your EV only takes 30 min: to recharge you must have a small battery. Cos every Vlog I have seen on YouTube say it takes a lot longer. Re fuel costs I don't know anything about M/G but they must use a lot more fuel than my Fortuner Diesel 2.8 in Eco Mode. On a run it returns 6lt per every 100km at speeds of around 120KPH so that's 691BHT for the 360KM you quoted. Yes more than an EV but the convenience of a 5 min: top up it's worth it.
  13. Sorry but it's no good saying I'm ill informed if you can't answer simple questions that I asked, maybe if you did I would be more clued up. I speak as I find I have looked into buying an EV and have come to the conclusion they are not fit for purpose. I'll give you round town they are fine but on a run useless. Ok a simple one how long does it take to recharge an EV from say 20% to full and what does it cost if your not at home???
  14. All I asked is some questions on how an EV is service wise, cost, and what you might get back later when you sell. Looks like nobody has a clue. Cos they haven't even considered it. I even offer to do a run with someone to test an EV against a Diesel as usual not a reply. Sorry but I think your all living in a dream world. Tip have a look at The Mac Master on You Tube he drives an EV car and see how he like it.
  15. How much does this Neta thing cost. Also where can you get it serviced. And what will you get back for it if you sold in say 6 years later. Can you get 7 people in it like I can in my Toyota Fortuner??? Yet more things that nobody that buy EV seems to take into consideration. With the low cost of Diesel here I'll stick to my Lump thank you.
  16. Where did I say that I drive 1k KM without a stop??? If you care to reread my post I said that my Car will do 1K+ KM on a tank of fuel and the journey I normally do is 500KM. I would like to do the same trip to Phuket with you in your car and see how much longer it take you than myself in mine.
  17. Please let me clarify. Yes you maybe able to go long distances but how long will it take??? I can travel with a 5 Min: fill up, and a full tank of diesel some 1000+ KM without a stop. How many times would you have to stop in an EV to recharge to do 1k KM. My estimate is you couldn't do that sort of trip in a day as it would take too long to recharge. I did look at buying an EV once until I worked out that it would take me around a day to get from my place to say Pattaya (A 500km trip I do quite often) when I can do the trip in 5.5 hours with a stop in my lump 5 hours without a stop. I concluded EV are pointless.
  18. I always sit with my car when it's serviced. They show me all the things like filters if they are dirty I just tell them to replace them never have them cleaned. The last A/C filter I had replaced at 5k KM because in my estimation it was passed it's sell by date. Cost is around 400 BHT so why not, it lets the A/C work at full power without having to turn it up fan wise. And yes before anyone asks I do still have a full service at 5k KM and not the 10k recommended.
  19. There is a way of doing the Video online. Some offices require you do it that way as they have stopped you doing at the L/Office. It takes 1 hour and you have to answer questions at odd times It's an A/B/C thing. That's to make sure you looked at it. Can be done on your phone. Just one small problem the first part is in Thai with subtitles so you will require a large phone. Better if you do it on a comp: as it's easier. Tip it's quick so you might have to freeze it. Once you finish they will give you a pass mark (Don't panic everyone passes) that you should take a snap of you then show that at the L/office.
  20. It's strait forward. As C/P said just use you currant licence to get a Thai one. So no test. You will have to make a booking at the Licencing place, get a Health check at local Doctors 100BHT. also a guarantee from the Immigration place to confirm your address 500bht. Turn up on your allotted time with passport and your OZ licence at L/Office and do a couple of easy tests. Break, colour, some thing to do with peripheral vision all very simple. Tip just get to the back of the line and see what the Thais do. Cost for a licence is just over 500bht for car 250bht for M/C. N/B cost as of a few weeks ago.
  21. Like many other I suspect I have stopped looking at TV every day, now it's only once every 3/4 weeks These bloody Adverts are driving me crazy. Soon unless they stop these pop ups I shall stop looking at TV altogether.
  22. The OP lives in Pattaya the Toyota dealer there is known for being at best not that great.
  23. Why I suggested check the fuel filter, was a similar thing happened to a friend of mine with his newish Nissan pick up. He was getting bad fuel consumption and it turned out his filter was full of <deleted>. He change it and it went back to running normal. If you think about it, say your A.C filter is dirty you would have too turn up the fan to make it work at the same efficiency as a clean one. Logic say it could be the same with Fuel filter??? It's a quick cheap check anyway. Could of cause be many things.
  24. My Fortuna 2.8lt is now coming up to 6 year old has done just over 60k KM. I'm getting on a run around 6.1 LT =100km. Aprox: 7LT around town. Used to use Premium Diesel now B7 both return the same figures. The 2.4lt engine will get a tad less KM=LT. Then again I don't live in BKK or any other tourist places or those figures would go out of the window. Oh I also don't have a big right foot. So that's the sort of figures you should be getting. Have you had a new Fuel filter. If it's getting dirty that might??? be the problem. For a few hundred BHT worth changing anyway. Best of luck.
