  1. I spent a month in c.mai over new year. Having spent a lot of time in c.mai in the past, I follow the news closely. Even with my experience of the place, I was expecting to find at least a bit of tension in the atmosphere. But i never saw a single redshirt. Im not sujesting it isnt happening, and i didnt go very far, but around the moon muang area all seemed as normal. What im saying is, to your average tourist, thailand sounds like a dangerouse place to be. I think "mai pen rai" is stronger than political opinion in thailand. Or i could be totally wrong....

  2. Food and sex are the two things most of us think about on a daily basis if we are honest. Topics of a sexual nature are not allowed on Thai Visa if they were the Chiang Mai forum would be filled up with burger, fish and chips, massage and bar girl topics :)
When I am in thailand I crave cheese and onion pastys, and sausages in gravy, which i hardly ever eat. When im not here I crave off limit topics, which I'm to tight fisted to indulge in when im here.
  3. I once came across a man trying to lever off one of the concrete sections covering the sewer. he had dropped his keys down it. Being of a robust physical build, i lifted the section for him, then he had to fish around in the sewerage with his bare hands to get the keys. Rather him than me.

  4. tyres with tubes are usually more airtight than tubless. If your tubes are going flat every week, I reckon you gotta problem with the rim, or the tyre. What can happen, especially with inferior quality tyres, is that when you inflate the tyre, a tiny little piece of wire pushes out of the bead, and into the tube. It makes such a small hole its nigh on impossible to find. I have seen this happen more than once. But dont go changing your tyres on my advise, i might be well wrong. You definately cannot put tubeless tyres on rims designed for tubes.

  5. I agree with the original poster. I gotta go back to the uk on saturday, after a month in Chiang Mai. Hopefully the shock wont be to bad this time, but after previouse visits to C.mai, lasting four or five months, it takes days or weeks for the harshness of the uk to wear off. I always get the same feeling getting into heathrow. People shouting and screaming at each other, and an aggresive atmosphere.
