  1. The only beer l could drink was Chang Draught (not classic) then they stopped making it facepalm.gif .

Fortunately Archa seemed to have changed their recipe and it is now drinkable..

My favorite drink at home(UK)is Guinness or a nice real Ale,that's probably why my normal beer here is Singha.

Or if I have to put ice in it,Archa, without ice its got a strange aftertaste.

But as my friend says,no such thing as a bad beer, some are just better than others!. ;-)

  2. I'm in the exact same situation,I went to the Amphur where we married in Bangkok. Still listed as Married here, they advised me to get a certified copy from the British Embassy(which I did)of the Degree Absolute,no mention of translation. Didn't plan to remarry then, you probably won't need that copy, just the right to Marry. The onus is on the Thai person to inform them your divorced,if you remarry, your ex may have a problem with them, but not you or your your new Wife.

I only had an English translation of the wedding certificate,my ex has the Thai version.

If you can meet your ex at the(an?)Amphur,it only takes 10 minutes to divorce,if you both agree. My ex won't meet me,so if I ever remarry(legally),she will have to explain to the Amphur.

That would be sweet to drop her in it,but not good enough to remarry for!. ;-)

And you are correct, translation, then MOFA. I believe there are translators nearby, but not sure. Been a long time .

Good luck on your new life.

  3. Just had my VDSL 50/10 installed, currently getting 40/10 locally and 7/1 internationally. The international is the UK and the same speed as my old ADSL 10/1(was upgraded to 18/1.8),I was hoping for more international speed, but at least it's not got worse.

Just moved, not had time to call 3BB and ask them if anything can be improved.

  4. Ah,bugger. But I may have a way out, still got the old ADSL running at the Outlaws. If the VDSL is that bad,I might(just might)be able to transfer my ADSL to my new place. Thought I was upgrading, not shooting myself in the foot. TIT

I'll report back later this week or cry into my beer.

  5. UPDATE

3BB service degraded further for me.

Speedtests inside Thailand still show 33 down and 5 up, but international bandwidth has worsened to about 5 down and 1.5 up, measured now.

That was the last time I trusted 3BB's service, I'll get out of there ASAP.

Has anyone tried Vdsl, not like the performance, and then gone back to Adsl?

The cheap Adsl modem is 100 baht (one ethernet port, no wifi--use a separate router) and the 2nd cheapest is 590 with a weak wifi adapter. Both with 1 year warranty. But you can just use your old Adsl modem if it still works.

The Adsl here is not broken.... I'm in no hurry to 'fix it'.

    There's or was a better modem,which I bought for I think 1000B,150m range,I'm moving and signed up for 3BB'S VDSL 50/10.

1500B deposit, hope I haven't made a mistake. I was getting 17/1.7 to Bangkok and 7/1 to London via a VPN(Hotspot Shield),which was fine for downloading and most streaming was reasonable,I'll find out next week when they connect me.

They did check the speed and the office, but trying to get an answer about international traffic speed drew blanks

  6. Here's another one. Your box of Hepolite pistons. Two inside. You'd think they weigh the same - discussed above.

You'd think they are sized right - not always...

The engine rebore shop or ourselves/yourself would mic BOTH pistons and size EACH bore to suit, marking an A and B piston and bore. Quite common on Far East or British made pistons to have half a thou (0.0005") difference in skirt diameter, and then owners wonder why one piston is a sloppy fit, if the shop has only mic'd one piston and assumed both are the same.

Does'nt happen on USA made pistons, they are always exactly what they say on the box.

Thanks for the info,it's a 1967 T120R engine. Imported from the States, taken the head and barrel off and looks so clean inside(cams unmarked) and everything's STD. Might just need honing and new rings etc.

I wonder if it was crashed just after a rebuild, but I'll have it stripped down and inspected.

Sorry getting a bit off subject, but linked to buying classic parts.

    Cheers

  7. Yeah, I checked with a speed test and still the same speeds - around 11mb local, 7mb with California servers.

My UK speed(6/7mb)has remained the same, after the upgrade. It'ss thru a VPN(Hotspot shield),but locally its gone up to around 17MB/1.7MB.

I'm hoping the VDSL will have better International speeds,if I move or relocate,it's a one year contact again.

2000B deposit on the new VDSL router, but you can buy your own router and no depsoit needed.

They do have Fiber here,100/10MB for 1200b with a 3,000b deposit for that router.

You get the deposit back after the years up,the VDSL router supplied, they only have one grade.

  8. 3BB package to 50mb/10mb VDSL for 700 Baht pm.

    VDSL

Is that where it comes in through the house's telephone line?

We have the 10mb for 590b p/m - wifi router. I think it is ADSL.

What is the difference between VDSL and ADSL? I'd be happy to pay 100+ baht more p/m and go from 10m to 50mb down.

    Thanks.

I'm in the same deal, except they upgraded me and many others to 18 down and 1.8 up(getting about 17 and 1.7,locally).

Coming to an area near you soon?.

I live near DM airport in Bkk, so shouldn't be an issue. Did you go to them and ask to be upgraded? I presume you did.

I can try it at the weekend, I think they have a shop/stall at the local shopping center we go to. Cheers.

    No,they did the upgrade automatically.

If fact,I only checked because of another thread on here somewhere.

Have you done a speed test to check, you've not already been upgraded?.

I may be moving and will ask about that VDSL 50mbs for 690 at the same time, fibre is not available here in Kanchanaburi yet(as far as I'm aware?).

I believe you need a different modem/router,I paid extra for their best 150 meter range one. Seems to work well.

And like you,to get 50 down for 100B more, worth buying another router.

But any downside to VDSL,compared to ADSL?(international traffic etc?)

It's working very well and I dont want to make a mistake.

    Cheers

  10. Nice 3 angle valve job, std size seats now, (done in the UK- Somchai does not work on my Triumph stuff)...

    attachicon.gif2016-05-16 15.40.14.jpg

New cams, no silly duration like the previous full race versions, but good lift. Basically similar to 68-73 650 cams.

    attachicon.gif2016-05-18 16.51.00.jpg

Whoops. TY 250 Mono barrel slipped in this topic. Juggling several jobs at once inc sourcing a loud top end on said Trials bike. Good bore, good piston, acceptable rings. Shagged s/end brg.

    attachicon.gif2016-05-15 15.01.16.jpg

Me too, having my T120r head restored in the UK. Unleaded valves, new guides, collets, springs etc and it needed a light skim. I may rebuild the rockets as well.

I'll probably rebuild the engine as standard,it has std pistons etc now. Just want it to be as reliable as possible,my suitcase will be full next time!.

Just check the weight of the pistons. They are sold as a pair, and it's not a rarity if they out. An 1/8th of an ounce (3.5 grams) difference and you will have a shaker. The worst we ever had was a pair of T140 Hepolite pistons a 1/4 of an oz out.!! That's 7 grams difference on a pair of pistons going up and down simultaneously. No wonder people used to complain about Brit twins and vibration. Balance to within one gram and you'll be fine.

Thank you,I like bikes and know enough to be dangerous. ;-)

For what I've see and read your posts, you've been doing this a long time and done some great mods on your Triumph.

    Cheers

  11. THAT is a 900cc Z1. Looks pretty original, most have long lost the pipes, and run a 4:1 system. THAT is worth serious wedge in any country. Always liked the Z1 and the early Z1000. Proper motorcycles.

Me too. Had a (crazy) mate who went from a FS1e to one of them, many moons ago

Seen to new Z1000RS pictures bouncing around the interweb????? Hope it goes into production.

Sounds familiar,I went from a Fizzy to a T140v export model.

Everyone thought I was crazy as well, missed out on all the 250's.

Yep very nice 99% right except for the seat cover and a steering damper added and me thinks the handlebars too. Its a Z1B mid 74' on. Yes serious wedge if its in this condition and a good runner .... a million baht or more in the Uk Ive seen em for.
I think it's for sale,it came up on a post on one of my Facebook pages. And with a Green book!,if you want I can past on the page etc.
