  1. Since there has been a lot of interest in Kanchanaburi I found this "Line group" for those who might be interested.

Personally i am not a big fan of "Line" but since everybody in Thailand use it... So do Ifacepalm.gif .

    Everybody welcome....

Maybe in a dummy, but I can't seem to find that group.

Do you have to be invited?.

    Cheers Paul

  2. The In-laws have had a 12,000btu Singer AC for years, and it's been very reliable. I'd fact I've been using it in my bedroom for 2 years and they've got the smaller 9000 Sharp and my 2year 18 000 btu Mitsubishi Mr Slim has just packed up,wonderful I've upped sticks to the bedroom. Ah bliss

  3. I put a 28L? Givi box from Yamaha,it was 1800B. Came with the base plate and I tried a full face helmet in it,no problem.

I think it was meant for a R15/R3,not too big,but I fitted on a Lifan. It has Yamaha stickers, but is a Givi.

  4. Have been putting the Lifan200 dual sport to the test on Laos roads.

Even in the south where straight roads exist, 90-100kph is about all you want to do.

Have quite a few villages along the way.

Rode about 85 km on an unpaved road.

Took some getting used to, but the Lifan was surprisingly tolerant of washboard and slamming into pot holes.

The 21" front wheel with the heavy duty 90/90 Michelin can take a punch.

    All good.

Which type of Michelin 90/90 did Papa use?,and where are they available?. Also might use on my other bike,I assume they have other sizes?.

    Cheers

  5. Last Year I got my first temporary Car and Motorbike licences in Kanchanaburi,Doctors note and certificate of residence(from the Amphur,Immigration doesn't issue them in Kanchanaburi),only need one copy for both licences).

They didn't want my I.D.P or my paper UK Licence, only the plastic card version.

Took the colour and depth tests,no video or actual driving test/s,but this year I had to sit thru the Video.

2 separate licences are issued to you, about 300B.

The temporary licences are now 2 years,as advised, check with your local Driving center, saves a lot of time.

    Good luck

  6. I have an UK subscription and view the US site as well for more content,no problems with hotspot shield VPN(yet!).

    Oops,I tempted fate.

Netflix USA states I'm using a VPN or unblocker and the UK Netflix just doesn't load any programmes.

I've reported this to Hotspot Shield and hopefully a fix will be available soon, this how is was handled before, when sky blocked me.

You finding the 38T sprocket reduces the revs a lot on the road?,my seems buzzy at 80kph.

Might try 40T first and beware of Red Ants

  8. My perfect Breakfast:

Fried egg - just one, fresh and cooked to perfection with firm whites, runny yokes - no crozzling!!

Scrambled eggs - two eggs, not too firm with a little diced onion and a light cheese coating.

Sausages - preferably a good pork breakfast sausage that isn't 95% breadcrumbs. Definitely not a Thai plastic sausage.

Bacon - preferably streaky that isn't full of water - three rashers thanks.

Hash browns - not the ones you buy at the supermarket or Mackers, but real home made ones.

Mushrooms - fresh (not canned), whole portabello and lightly sautéed in butter.

    Beans - Heinz preferably.

Fried bread - cooked properly in dripping or lard. Yeah, 3 million calories a slice but uber tasty with the runny eggs.

Black pudding - just a little bit, and perhaps a little white pudding to boot.

Grilled tomatoes - fresh and not those disgusting canned abominations.

Lambs kidneys - grilled or fried.

Toast and Marmalade - I'll settle for Smuckers out here, it's not too bad.

And against my usual preference I'll finish with Tea rather than coffee. There's just something about the combined taste of tea and marmalade that brings back some fond childhood memories.

Try the George Pub in Jomtiem, very good breakfast and with most of the above homemade hash browns. They have a Facebook page, wish I was, there now.

  9. Rob is still at one more bar, decent breakfast and other food.

Also, back towards the Cemetery,on the right hand side, about 50 yards is the Crowds nest. Its next too the Aussie rules bar, again decent English.

Don't know if any of the hotels that offer an English breakfast

  10. The temporary licences are now 2 years, just got mine on Friday.

I have a 5 yr Thai licence for car. My UK licence shows I am permitted to drive a motorbike. How would I go about getting a Thai bike licence? Would I need to take a test?
When I got both my temporary licences last year(car & bike)and last week,I had my IDP but they only wanted to copy my plastic UK licence. I had to take the colour blindness, brake reaction and depth perception tests.

This year I had to watch the video as well, change of rules they said.

Had a Doctors note and certificate of residence(from the Amphur),immigration won't do one here in Kanchanaburi.

Thank you Maz. Still abit thick on this subject. I only did the tests to get my car licence; does this mean I have to re-do everything to get my bike licence + all those afore-mentioned docs?
Both times I did car & bike licences together, only needed 1 Doctors note,1 Res Cert and only 1 set of tests,I didn't need the circuit tests etc as I had full car and bike

This may vary according to your local office(I checked first),but I would assume they would make you take the tests again and you would need those docs again,as its a separate licence.

    Good luck

  12. I married in Thailand and divorced in the UK,went to the Amphur in Bang Rak?,Bangkok(where we married) to check if we were still classified as married in Thailand,we are.

My ex would not meet to sign the divorce papers here, but the officer said to get a certified copy of my Degree Absolute and this would allow me to re-marry in Thailand and my ex would get into trouble for not advising them about the divorce as its her responsibly to inform them.

Which I did for 2500b?,I've not re-married yet. So a translation may be required if I ever did and of course the freedom to marry etc or possibly for the Amphur to divorce.

If you could get your ex to agree to meet and I believe you have to state the financials have been agreed etc, before the divorce is granted.

Its very easy and cheap to divorce at the Amphur,if both parties agree, not so thru the courts.

    Hope this helps.
