Im from the USA married to a Thai . we have been married 6 years of which we lived in the USA . I have to say I feel like I went through more hoops getting her to the USA than she did getting me a visa here. The income requirements here ? She was upset about it and I can understand that . I was very upset at the requirments the US made me do for her to come and stay with me and the fees they charged . SO I guess Im sayind what they have made us do here in Thailand was nothing compared to what was required for her in the USA . My only gripe is when we stay in Bangkok and we check into a hotel when we come and go the first few times security usually stops us and I have to show she is my wife ... Other than that its just a day in the life of Thailand ......

I have been to Dr Morgan twice and my wife once . I was worried I would not find a doctor here that I liked or trusted . She is all of that and in my opinion a very good doctor and a caring person .. I give her a thumbs up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

original income affidavit translated and certified by MFA
When was this requirement made to you? As you did not mention it, that I can see, in your posts from a week ago wonder how you obtained if it was a last minute request. If income affidavit is in English there should not be a need to translate.
I really didnt know if it needed to be translated and cerified , we were having numerous documents translated and taking them to MFA office in Bangkok so as to register our marrage change her id card and her passport . We tossed the affidavit in the stack as well just in case ...

Im not sure if it was required to have the income affidavit translated or not . We were having all of our marriage documents translated and certified so had this one done as well just in case . The picture was done with a web cam and was of both of us sitting together . Immigration staff very nice and very helpful ... They only kept from my files what they needed and returned everything else . The only original they kept was the income affidavit . They also said that when I have to do this again next year it will be much simpler becasue they now have what they need . My guess is it will just be showing the income coming in and probably a visit to make sure we are still living together ....
It was a very simple process .
Also every document that was a copy both my wife and I had to sign, Will save you time if you do this before you get there . And bring your own pen ........

I just returned fromImmigration at Chiang Mai airport . It was a very pleasent experience. Got there at 8:30 am and was out by 10:30 am
They wanted two passport photos
One family photo two copies
TM7
Copy of front page of my pass port ,
copy of my non o visa page
entry stamp
departure card
Copy of my wifes ID card
copy of house hold registration
copy of marriage registration in her home province
copy of original marriage certificate
original income affidavit translated and certified by MFA
copy of home lease aggreement
map to residence
They had us fill out two forms asked my wife a few questions in general , took our picture collected 1900 baht sent us to the next room.
There they looked over the papers gave me my change told us when to come back ..
Very easy process and the immigration people were very nice .
They want two of everything and make two separate files .
Wife and I had to sign everything that was not an orginal ...
Hope this helps aomeone ... Me Im just glad I can stop chasing documents ....

There is no requirement to actually transfer the funds. The Embassy letter should be enough.
Don't confuse the issue with too many documents.
Thanks I will bring them in another folder if they ask I ll have them but only offer what I think is required ,,,,,,

We went there and they said it would have to be done in her home province . Doesnt seem the best way to do something but then again its there way . Problem is her home province is telling us a different way each time we call .. I think she is just going to go with every document we can dig up and give it a shot .... We went to immigation here in CM too some help but not much ... Going back tomorrow to check on a Thai affifidavit from me saying it is my wishes that she takes my last name ... We found the Thai form to do this .. We just hoping Thai immigration will sign and stamp it ....

Ok here is what we have done thus far , First off we were married in the US 6 years ago . We have moved to Chiang Mai I am here on an non immigrant o visa with its first 90 day stamp which expires in December . We have been to the US embassy and I have the sworn affidavit and we have another affidavit my wife did stating she and I are married ,and wishes to change her last name to mine for ther purpose of house hold registry and pass port and Id card so she has an affidavit that states such .
Both affidavits will be translated to Thai and sent to the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Bangkok .
My question is being she is from Pathum Thani all are telling us she needs to register our marriage in her home province not here in Chiang Mai . Can anyone enlighten me . What does she need to get from them , that I can turn in with my application for 1 year marrage extention ??? Then to add to it all Pathum Thani office has told us a diffierent way each time we have called them ... Confused is not the word ...... But now I keep smiling and say Welcome to Thailand ....
Can someone give me some advise ????

I am going to be seeking a one year extention . Im wondering what documentation they will require . As far as the 40k per month income or 400,000 I can do either but would prefer to do it on my income . I was curious as to what they would want to see as proof . I am going into the second month of my first 90 days on a non o visa with multi entries .
Nothing has changed in the last several years. Are you seeking a 60 day extension to visit family or a one year extension of stay (which would require meeting the 400k in bank two months or 40k per month income requirements)?
-
Does anyone have the latest of what to expect going for a visa extention in Chiang Mai for a US citizen married to a Thai .
-
To obtain a one year extention to your type o visa if you are married to a Thai you must show 400,000 baht I know . Has anyone obtained the extention using penison income and if so what document did you supply . I will be coming from the US I see on the US embassy web site they have an affidavit form to show income do they except that form ? . What can you use to show ????
