Since Saturday afternoon no ADSL in central Pattaya. We subscribe with TOT. Is it only me, or do others have problems as well?
TOT admits to some unspecified :problems: which will be resolved "very soon", this is the status since my first call on Saturday...
The problem is that they have a rota to when it's your turn to be put offline, happend to me twice and both times I called round to see them at the office it's been the same answer after she makes a quick phone call! We turn you back on today or tomorrow.

I am supposed to do my 90 day report on Friday at Pattaya Immigration, any idea if the office will be open or closed.

Is there any way to remove sticky tape residue that is commonly used to fix the Tax and insurance sticker to the inside of my car without damaging the window tint film.
Cheers

How many of you have had your broadband disconnected by TOT for no obvious reason.
After speaking to a number of people this seems to be a regular routine for TOT to just flick the switch and turn you off until you contact them, and hey presto it’s up and running again, Is this because they are well over subscribed?.
And how many have bought a new modem because they can’t make a connection? (I almost did)
I didn’t bother to ask for a reduction on my bill for the 4 days offline ( pointless )

I have been the length of the coast line, past Koh Chang and as far north as Ban Saen, on many occassions. I look for the perfect beach, but to no avail, they are all crappy and the sea is mirky. That was till today. I found as good a beach as you will find anywhere, with the sea as clear as Koh Larn. At only 30 mins drive from Pattaya, it's well worth the trip. It is actually on land belonging to the forces, but has public access.
You drive about 3km past the Sattahip turn, take a right. The roads is long and follows the railway. After about 3km, you come to a decorous gateway with a picture of the queen. Immediately before this, turn left, through a gate with a lodge, Follow the road till you come to the beach. From what I gather, if you continue on this road, you can only go by car on weekends at a cost of 20baht per car. We left the car and walked. It is without doubt the most beautiful beach with the clearest of water on this coast. Hope this is useful to some.
My wife and I decided to try out this beach on Saturday,as we walked along the beach we noticed how peaceful it was, no jet skis or vendors, the loudest noise was from the Thais greeting with the usual Hello,it seemed a charming place until whilst making our way back along the beach two military personnel kindly told us YOU NOT THAI,.YOU GO, YOU GO HOME NOW
We retired to Pattaya nine months ago and are in our middle 50s always dress appropriately and are always polite.
It just seems that farangs are not welcome on military land.

Every time that I have booked a flight and paid by credit card it's part of the booking conditions that the credit card holder must be included in the booking ie on the flight.

Now !!!
You are in the Internet and some of you use Firewall.
What you know about Firewall?
You think Firewall safe? no! no!
How it works?
it will close all danger ports and allow some ports to connect for example FTP (21), E-mail (23), HTTP (80) etc.
The weak point >>> if someone use anonymous software to connect with port 21, 23 or 80 What will happen?
some case anyone can connect to your PC if you not careful.
The way to know what the ports are Firewall open >>> sent ICMP or RAW of scan and find open port this case Firewall will not block!!! and Jackpot!!! then go through the Firewall.....
We can trust the FIREWALL???
** what do you think about? ** or any discuss
At least turn off yor plug n play port with this free download, that's one less to think about http://grc.com/UnPnP/UnPnP.htm

Hi all, I have been browsing this forum for a few months and are now considering buying a condo in Viewtalay 2B on the ground floor and hope you guys/gals can give me some info to the questions below.
My wife and I are hoping to retire to Pattaya in the near future , can anybody see any problems with a ground floor condo (I have no interest in sea views etc) and I am hoping that it will make access easier in old age.
What is the security like on the Viewtalay2B condo.
What would be the average monthly expenditure required to live comfortably in Pattaya.
I have holidayed in Pattaya a number of times and have visited the general area on numerous occasions previously.
Cheers
Cryo.
My wife and I stay in Viewtalay 2 B,had the condo about two years and no security problems as yet, we are on the second floor so we can leave the balcony door open to create a through draught so we don’t use the aircon.(this saves lots of baht )
In your reference “ access easier in old age” we selected the second floor so we don’t have to use the lift we use the service stairs, you would have to be quite infirm not to manage the steps.
We are on the Jomtien side and hear a little noise from the cars parking and the regular motorcycle taxis I think you will hear a lot more on the ground floor unless it’s an apartment at the far end of the building.
Don’t forget if you have an apartment on the ground floor on the Pattaya side all the motorcycles park there under cover and can be a little annoying.
We Retire there full time around July .

I have heard a rumour about this new tax.
Does anyone have clear information about it, or a link to web site?
If it affects places like the Channel Islands and Isle of Man it will wipe out
my ability to live on my investments.
It's not only the EU there after the Americans also.
Don't Leave Home Without It - Just Inform the IRS First
.
In a not so surprising recent tactic by US Internal Revenue Service, the IRS petitioned a federal judge in Miami to order the release of across the board customer information from MasterCard & American Express. This move is aimed at trying to find out the account information with regards to Americans that may have an offshore bank account and a related offshore charge card (referenced by the fact they have a credit or debit card issued by a non US bank). Many clients have contacted us recently about this, so I want to explain what exactly is going on and perhaps offer some comments, or at least some things to be aware of. The news story concerning this was released over the wire and a number of articles recently appeared in USA TODAY, The New York Times, and a few other well know publications. Each reporter has changed the article somewhat, but the on-line version can be found at the following link:

I believe the Tabien Baan for foreign owned condo is yellow if memory serves me. And believe in the past there were methods of obtaining PR with investments. So perhaps it is part of that?
I bought a condo 2 years ago and was handed with the deeds 2 blue house books (one for each unit ) is this what is called Tabien Baan
Will having a blue book cause me any problems in the future as I am a British.
Thanks

A little information would be most appreciated.
I have always entered Thailand filling in the usual TM.6 arrival/departure card using the free 30 day on arrival stamp at immigration.
This time I am staying 116 days on a multiple o visa (doing a visa run sometime)
The question is what I should put on arrival/departure Card where it says
Length of stay ? do I just put the 90 days allowed although a visa run will be done before 90 days.
Return flight number ? if I put my return flight number on the departure card will this be a problem at immigration on the visa run or should I just leave it blank.
Or am I just being an old fart with a over active imagination.
Thanks

Have tried twice today to update reference file and have not been able to do so suspect they are having troubles.
If you can't update it's because you need to delete the old Ad-Aware and download the new Ad-Aware SE Personal.

A little help would be appreciated, I plan to arrive in Thailand with a multiple o visa, my first stay on this should be only 90 days but I need 116 days, do I have to do a visa run or will immigration be kind and give me a 30 day extension.
I will be staying in Pattaya if this makes any difference.

"If on the other hand you don't mind travelling to Hull in the north east of the UK to the Thai consulate, you don't have to show anything except your passport, no reports, no bank evidence, nothing and it can be done by post for 90 pounds or 100 pounds for a personal interview in Hull and your in and out of the office in about 4-5 minutes or as long as it takes for the consulate to find the right stamp.
The latest info from the Hull Consulate is that they only issue two types of visa, the site use to state that retirement visas must be obtained in person from the Royal Thai Embassy London
NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THIS OFFICE.
There are only two options available:-
a) Single Entry
The validity of this visa is 3 months from date of issue and allows a visitor to enter Thailand for a period of up to 90 days after which they must depart. A further visit will require another visa which must be obtained outside Thailand.
Multiple Entry
The validity of this visa is 12 months from date of issue and allows a visitor to enter Thailand on as many occasions as required within the validity of the visa provided no single stay exceeds 90 days. On expiry of the final visit they must depart and cannot return without a new visa which must be obtained outside Thailand.
Visa applications can be made to this office by post or in person. In the case of postal applications it is recommended that they be sent by Royal Mail SPECIAL DELIVERY post and a similar envelope duly stamped and addressed must be provided for the return of passports. This office accepts no responsibility whatsoever for documents lost in the post however caused.
