Foolish? Yes
Menace to society? Definitely not. Some of you "hang 'em high brigade" need to get a life. Far more wrongs in the world committed by alcohol abusers than by the likes of this fellow. How many of you calling for this guy to be banged up have had a couple of beers tonight & then driven home?

What smoke? Pretty clear apart from the humidity induced haze. But we had to close all windows yesterday evening, thanks to the local farmers

My general observations are that [judging by the map/pic] the worst burners are northern Thailand and central and eastern Burma and the fires seem to go back and forth over the borders and with no borders on the map/pic, it's hard to tell who is the 'winner' of the burning fields contest.......I just know that we are the loosers.
I use this map , it shows the international borders.

Bangkok Airways = Low cost? This will really screw their expansion plans, as they seem to be popular choice for international passengers transiting at BKK. Whose idea was this? Boss of Thai Air?
And at the moment, international arriving & departing passengers don't join the long immigration queues at Swampy. I pass through immigration on the way out at CNX & use the transit area immigration on arrival.

Maybe the folk that buy this type of car don't buy second hand?

Which format (electronic) is used for the new 1:50 000 government maps?
How much do they charge for the electronic version?
The format that you buy from the Survey Dept, can it be dumped straight into
the average GPS device and/or smart phone?
Or would it be necessary to electronically massage the data with some software before use in a GPS or smart phone?
I believe to load a scanned map onto a smart phone, you need to calibrate it using OziExplorer software, then run this calibrated map through the Orux desktop software to get a map you can use with oruxmaps. I've not bought my smart phone yet, so I'm not 100% on this. I also believe the govt maps are simply scanned image files, suitable for calibrating with OziExplorer.
Lots of info & tutorials on the Orux Maps website & forum.

Maybe it's one of those things that varies depending where you apply. Same with visa extensions, not uniform around the country.

Do any of these gadgets allow you to navigate through folders of albums, or do they simply start at song number 1 & continue through to the end?

My imaginary cow's called "<deleted> you". I stand on the doorstep all evening calling her to come home.......

Rain
in Chiang Mai
Major dust storm!!! Blowing in from the north - all those dusty construction sites along hwy 1317. Thought rain was coming. Haven't seen this since my time in Saudi

Saw a silver one today. First one I've seen on the road. Looked pretty good in silver. Probably a sensible choice if you do a lot of driving on dusty roads.

I always thought Global was the easiest on the nerves shopping experience.
No, that would be Rim Ping. It always seems oasis-like to me compared to walking through any shopping mall or Tesco/Big C store.
But in the area of home improvement stores.. Don't know, maybe Noppadol, as they have much cuter staff.
Noise pollution drives me crazy here, but I 've never had a problem in Global House. I've walked out of most superstores at least once, leaving a trolley full of shopping for staff to put back on shelves, some most likely defrosted. Always enjoy a trip to Global House
It's the prices in Rimping that disturb me ;-)

The wording of the letter & the petition are a bit more diplomatic than the home page.

It's the small print in your insurance that you have to check. That might require a Thai DL after a certain length of time.

The only time I've been close to getting assaulted in CM is in bars, by fellow English. One time, years ago I was in Lucky Bar talking to, god forbid, another man. Some pissed up yob in a footie shirt was adamant we were gay and wanted to start a fight. The other time was in Mad Dog of all places. Again, some drunken Brit on a mission.....
Good luck OP
I need to get out more often, Haven't seen "a drunk on a mission" in years.
Good luck to you too Sir. And do stay away from those nasty Brits
Try to read the post

You are, of course, correct, Mr Smith.
I've heard from dozens of Thais that the pollutionis caused by the burning in Burma. The govt says it, the police say it, the newspapers say it. It's a great way to save face, but until the govt comes out and says that Thais need to take responsibility and stop adding to the problem, there will not be any change.
Even my wife said it. ME had a major row.....

They should just keep talking about it and act like this is the first year it's every happened. Then they can talk about it again next year, and the year after.
How many 100s of years has this been happening?
Hundreds of thousands of years according to some idiot in the "Japanese hackers thread"

'Muffles" wax earplugs from Boots. Not sure if they sell them here in CM. Definitely in UK. I've used them for 26 yrs. Can't sleep without them, even if it's silent.
Those aren't the ones I use but I do use earplugs. Slept onboard ships for decades with that low frequency engine going 24 hrs per day and never needed it. Here in Thailand it's necessary for me I'm afraid. I just use the foam ones.
Try the "muffles". They mould to your ear. Split one in half, good for a week or more. They might have them here. I've tried the foam ones, useless for me....
