  1. Yes, you can get a work permit with only a TEFL. But you can only teach at language schools and such, not at primary or secondary, schools. For that you need a degree in education or a temporary waiver, which you can only get with a university degree. (Not a TEFL).
  2. Don't spread false information. If you need a teaching license to teach totally depends on the kind of school you are teaching at. Schools falling under the OBEC rules, such as satit schools, require by law a teaching license (or waiver). Many have been arrested for teaching without a work permit, less without for without a teaching license as normally no labor office will grant a work permit without a teaching license for schools where it is required. Immigration checks both work permit and teaching license. ( I am on an extension based on marriage and in the past immigration didn't care about the teaching license. Since 2 years I now have to show my teaching license as my income is from teaching).
  3. It is not a workaround. Some labour offices might be sympathetic and you might be covered for the requirement of having a work permit. But the requirement for a teaching license is a separate requirement (Teachers Act) and is not covered by having a work permit. One would still take a risk. At my satit school immigration checked both work permit and teaching license of foreign teachers last year on site!
  4. I have had 3 shots sofar and can just show up at the local government hospital to get my 4th shot. But my COVID certivicate is still about 70 days valid, so I will wait.
  5. A university doesn't need a teaching license, but for a satit school (demonstration school connected to a university) one does need a teaching license or waiver. Teaching without a teching license (waiver) is a seperate crime, punishable by a prison term of 1 year.
  6. Labour Office 1 year workpermit renewal fee is 3,000 baht, plus 100 bath application fee. For 2 years it is 6,100 baht.
  7. Only If the child never has left Thailand it can leave on the foreign passport, on show of the birth certificate that clarifies why there is no entry stamp. If the other parent is not present, immigration will probably ask for proof of permission from the other parent to leave the country.
  8. You apply yourself, with help of the school. See: http://site.ksp.or.th/about.php?site=englishsite&SiteMenuID=4617 Don't forget to download the forms. You need them and the clarify a lot. You must apply half year before expiration and you need proof of professional development. In essence at least 3 courses, seminars etc.
  9. Read the opening post. There the claim is made to which I replied.
  10. Apparently they already did: they busted the organization and found that the organization is in the wrong by providing false documents/statements.
  11. The volunteer visa organization was busted and people with a stamp from that organization are blacklisted. Immigration has the names. I am afraid nothing will look legitimate to immigration.
  12. The visa was fraudulently obtained. That is something immigration takes very serious. One can be prosecuted for that and see the inside of a Thai jail. A couple of years ago there was the story of a teacher who had all the required documents in his home country. He decided to take the easy route and got fake ones from Khao San road. During a raid the police found a list of names at the shop he got the fake documents from. Despite him actually having the required qualifications the judge jailed him for using fake documents. Not long, but he was also expelled and blacklisted. If immigration blacklists someone than one can not enter, regardless of a new visa or new passport. In such case it will be better to plan for a future in another country.
  13. Volunteering requires a work permit, period. Which cost 3,100 baht a year and is difficult to get on an extension of stay based on retirement. A teaching license is not required for volunteers, by regulation of the teachers council of Thailand.
  14. Uttaradit immigration will be moving to their brand new office coming Monday, November 15th. Their new address is: 194 M8 Chumphon Subdistrict, Lablae Uttaradit Province Tel: 055 479 993 It is a bit further away from Uttaradit town, in Lablae district. Coming from Uttaradit town you take the road on the left just before Lablae Hospital. Comming from Uttaradit Hospital you just go to the intersection before TT-garden and turn left. Go past the social security office and take one of the sois on the left, near Uttaradit provincial health office. See map below (link). http://uttaradit.immigration.go.th/images/news/641027_516.jpg
  15. A waiver for the teaching license is valid for up to 2 years. But the problem is that the waiver is not awarded to you personally, it is connected to the school. Leaving the school thus means that your waiver ends, and you only get 3 or 4 waivers total. Even working only 3 months at a school will means that you lose 1 waiver. regarding your visa, if married to a Thai you can just get a visa based on your marriage without any problems. There is no problem getting a work permit with that. For an extension of stay it will depend on your situation and the rules of that moment if you should do one based on marriage or based on working. Both extensions can be done on a visa based on marriage.
  16. While it might be possible, the Thai government will not recognize the marriage because in Thailand it should be done at the Thai amphur.
  17. No such rule exists. The only rule is that you need permission from your first employer to be also employed elsewhere. In your case you will need to apply for a new work permit and thus get permission from the new school. You will also need to visit immigration if your permission to stay is based on your employment. If it is an elementary or secondary school you will need to have a university degree and a teaching license or waiver.
  18. Koh ror 2 = the registration document. Immigration always wants a new one every year. (Cost at my amphur is now 1 baht, used to be 10). JUst give it to your embassy and get another one for immigration. You will need a new one for immigration every year to confirm you are still married! Koh ror 3 is the flowery docuemnt (one for you and one for your wife) This you always keep and just show. In case of divorce you have to return it to the amphur).
  19. Sinovac 3 weeks ago, no side effects. Last Tuesday AZ last Tuesday, yesterday developed fever and headache/dizziness and sore arm, today much better and tomorrow probably OK.
  20. If you look on a map you will find it in the lower North, next to Phitsanulok province.
  21. In the sticks they offer at least also AstraZeneca. Several people I know, including expats already had a shot. That was in Uttaradit province. 1 small hospital offering it to all, while part of the staff of the university also received Astra, while the first batch to get vaccinated received sinovac. It really is what is made available. No word on Moderna and such.
