Thai YouTuber found dead at Tbilisi hotel

A sign of the times. She said she did not want to make any announcement without authority and had contacted Hlune's older brother, who had not yet read her message. I suppose using a phone to actually phone someone and talk to them never occurred to her. Wasn't important anyway, only about his brother being found dead.

Thai YouTuber Hlun Solo found dead in Georgia hotel

Georgian police are carrying out an autopsy on Thai travel YouTuber Hlun Solo, who was found dead in a hotel room after arriving in the country on the night of July 13.

A Thai interpreter in Georgia, identified as Boy, said police told him Hlun had died about 10 days before he made enquiries after relatives, friends and members of the Thai community could no longer contact him.

Boy said immigration authorities confirmed that Hlun had not left Georgia. He then contacted tourist police and local police to file a missing person report.

"When I went to the police station near the airport, officers told me that he had been reported dead about 10 days earlier," Boy said. "The body had already been sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death."

Hotel staff found him in his room

According to information given to Boy by police, Hlun checked into a hotel but did not leave the building afterwards.

"After he checked in, he never came out again," Boy said. "Reception staff entered his room and found him dead."

After learning of the death, Boy said police asked him to end the missing person search and directed him to the local station dealing with the case.

He later received a call from Thai consular officials, who had arrived in Georgia and taken over coordination with local authorities. The cause of death has not been announced while the autopsy results are awaited.

Friend became concerned after two weeks

One of Hlun's close friends said the lack of contact was unusual. The YouTuber had not replied to messages for around two weeks, despite normally responding within two or three days.

"This time he didn't reply at all, which made me feel something was wrong," the friend said.

The friend said Hlun normally shared his travel plans and often hired local guides. On this trip, however, he had not disclosed his itinerary.

The friend believed Armenia had been Hlun's intended next destination and initially wondered whether he had lost phone signal while travelling across the Georgia-Armenia border.

Is Ankara the closest Thai Consulate? Seems a bit strange to inform the consulate in another country. But maybe Georgia is covered from there.

Sad indeed. I've seen many of his YT travel logs. He seemed a good and decent person who always traveled well. A great embassador of the Thai people. RIP 🙏

Rest in peace, young man, Hlune Solo. Gone far too soon, with so much life still ahead of you. My heartfelt condolences go out to your family, friends, and everyone whose lives you touched. May they find strength and comfort during this incredibly difficult time.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara is responsible for Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, North Macedonia, and Turkmenistan.

I loved watching his travels. He seemed to be able to connect with people no matter which country he went to. Always smiling and happy a great representative of Thai people. Gone way too soon. RIP Hlune.

So he was dead in his hotel room for 10-days and the staff never checked on him?

No housekeeping to make his bed, change towels? 10 days is a long time to ignore a guest's room.
