Protesting farmers leave Nakhon Ratchasima on foot to Bangkok

Nakhon Ratchasima: -- Over 200 farmers left this northeastern province on foot heading to Bangkok to highlight their demand for the government to tackle their debt.

The farmers led by Prapas Khoksungnoen, president of the Northeastern People Network, gathered in front of the Suranee Statue, at 10 am and began the journey at 11 am.

Prapas said the farmers planned to walk to Government House and camp there to pressure the government to draft a contract tht the administration would absolve the farmers' debt.

Prapas accused the Surayud administration of ignoring the plight of farmers while focusing on political issues.

Hmm. This one could warm up the on-off couter coup.. Are they a trojen horse for Thaksin's mob? Is is the Caravan of the Poor under a new guise? Be interesting to see if they are joined along the way and what happens to them outside Government House. I somewhat doubt that they will be offered tea and buscuits... :o

How far is that exactly?

Can't the goverment take care of my debt too? Let's all skip everything that could resemble personal responsibility.

That sounds like socialism to me...................

Good that you have your irony-detector on. =)

Great Idea!!!!Let the government pay off their debts. And while they are at it,maybe they could pay mine as well :o .

Thaksin's frozen assets could do the trick many times over. He liked the farmers so much, I'm sure he would see it as a good gesture. :o

I don't have any debts.....should I quick make some?....and then ask for them to be taken care of?
