george Posted January 7, 2007 Share Posted January 7, 2007 Protesting farmers leave Nakhon Ratchasima on foot to Bangkok Nakhon Ratchasima: -- Over 200 farmers left this northeastern province on foot heading to Bangkok to highlight their demand for the government to tackle their debt. The farmers led by Prapas Khoksungnoen, president of the Northeastern People Network, gathered in front of the Suranee Statue, at 10 am and began the journey at 11 am. Prapas said the farmers planned to walk to Government House and camp there to pressure the government to draft a contract tht the administration would absolve the farmers' debt. Are they a trojen horse for Thaksin's mob? Is is the Caravan of the Poor under a new guise? Be interesting to see if they are joined along the way and what happens to them outside Government House.
