Chao Phraya River overflows to flood low-lying areas in Nakhon Sawan

 

 

Villagers living along the Chao Phraya River in Nakhon Sawan were forced to move their belongings to high grounds on Friday (Oct 6) after the river overflowed to flood low-lying areas.

 

The floodwater was as high as 60 centimetres in some spots.

Didn't a certain person warn Thailand a fee months ago that due to Climate Change droughts would be more common ?  quack quack !!!

It is human damage to the local environment that causes flooding.
Its been raining on a regular basis since the last ice age and laying concrete and tar
all over a massive floodplain is only going to get you one thing.

A very big swimming pool.

 

For basically a thousand years all Thai houses were made of wood and built on stilts.
There was and still is a very obvious reason for that.

Yes there has been some heavy rain recently. Thankfully the situation is better then 2011 so even though I always get nervous (ever since 2011) I doubt it will be on the same scale. We will probably stay dry again this time. Just lucky that this government does not mess with the dams in a bad way. I hope that the plans this government made for flooding gets worked out. Those of the previous government never materialized. I really wonder what has been done since 2011.. i doubt its really a lot. We got some new sluices around this area and I seen a lot more drainage pipes and pumps then before. I wonder how it is in other area's
