The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered the establishment of flood prevention and mitigation centres at all the capital’s high risk areas so that they could resolve flooding problems in time.

According to the deputy governor of the city administration, Chakkaphand Piew-ngam, these centres will be manned around the clock by authorities to monitor the water situation and take prompt action in case of flooding.

This will help to increase the water draining efficiency in areas having high risk of flooding or facing repeated floodings every year, he said.

The most advanced countries in the world cannot control the effects of catastrophic weather events.   <deleted> do these flood prevention and mitigation centres think they are going to accomplish?  Perhaps line the pockets of several construction contractors?

But I dont understand they said there will be no floods. The RID said they will protect Bkk to prevent floods. So what changed in the last 48 hours. Maybe someone realised they are knee deep in brown stuff and thats not only flood water I am talking about.

I guess it is not permitted to tell us what the eight areas mentioned in the original article, are.

Yes but they assured us there would be no floods like 2011.

They said it, so it must be true ??????
