What Is "bne"?

Featured Replies

Has anyone noticed a proliferation of strange stickers all over Bangkok with the letters "BNE" on them? They're on everything - traffic lights, lamp posts, phone boxes. Everywhere. Now the only "BNE" I can think of is the airport code for Brisbane but I fail to see why anyone would be plastering this all over Bangkok - what on earth can these stickers mean? Who is putting them up?

Jeez , LP , it's only 11th Jan.

Bit early for entries in the "paranoiac post of the year'

competition.

:o

maybe it stands for "Better No Expats" ?

or "Believe Nothing Everyone"

soccer supporters of Breston North End ??????????

Complete stab in the dark.

It's a nightclub, disco or group.

British nightlife expedition

If you watch carefully, you will see a steady stream of drunken English fatpats wobbling from sign to sign, being led from one girlybar to the next by this latest space age technooky, aimed at the up market tourist that Puket is craving so badly.

If nobody has noticed...I have seen the seven day adventists putting them up, it is their 2007 catchcry 'Be Nice Everybody'

I saw them too - Thonburi side of Bangkok. I didn't think anything at the time but now you come to mention it .....

Nawlitus, now you've gone and spoiled the fun :D

I was thinking more along the lines of "beware, no eggs!" as the next Bird flu scare :o

I haven't seen any but I'll keep my eyes open for them. This sounds interesting. I mean why not BNA or BBE or ZNE. The possibilities are endless. Baan Nawk Esarn? Michael Jackson's song 'Ben' Michael is mixed up.

Be nice everybody! And take Saturdays off, too. :o

No, just a (bad) joke from my side....sorry for that. :o

LaoPo

yes, I noticed them on sign posts, telephone boxes at the Silom end of Saladaeng, and wondered too. Spookyl, in a Dame Edna sense.

:o:D That'll be the closest answer I reckon! :D

Maybe Ban Nana Entertainers? :o

Well let's hope not.

BL00DY NOSEY EEDJITS!

Was it you who put all those signs up, then? Coming from Brisbane, Australia, you'd be very familiar with the abbreviation of BNE for Brisbane :D .

Better Not Emigrate ...

Hehe, nah it wasn't me. Although coming from Brisbane was what made me notice them in the first place, I haven't been back there for about 3 years, and have no desire to promote the place, via stickering Bangkok.

baht not euro's

??

Seen similar stuff in the Uk, goes on for a month or two then is invariably revealed to be the name for a new club/night spot venue etc....suppose it works if its got its own thread.

I took a ride downtown yesterday. Still haven't seen any of these things.
