Voice TV reported official figures on passengers at Thai airports in the last year.

The figures revealed that international travel was up but that domestic flights and passengers had risen more.

Data from six airports - Suvarnabhumi, Don Meuang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Chiang Rai - showed that 129 million passengers had traveled between October 2016 and September this year.

This represented a 7.73% increase on the previous year's figures.

Suvarabhumi alone accounted for 59.08 million passengers or a 6.5% rise.

In total at the six airports there were 823,574 flights up 6%.

Of these 415,338 were international flights (up 3.13%) and 408,236 were domestic (up 9.1%).

Passengers using the six facilities averaged out at 354,000 per day in the reported period.

Of the passengers 72.54 million were international (up 6.57%) and 56.66 million domestic (up 11.89%).

There was also 1.57 million tons of freight and mail transported representing a rise of 11.89%.

I go through CNX and BKK 10x a year on my way to and from the Philippines.

Yay for me increasing their figures, I count as 20 tourists!

The taxi mafia will be pleased with that result.

129 million? So many stupid people, rushing around like nutter won't make you any happier. Whoever said 'travel broadens the mind' was lying. Fools.

It does potentially broaden the mind, but not if you're only flying between Bangkok and Udonthani five times a year; or fly in from Europe or North America to spend 2 weeks in the confines of a tourist ghetto, woefully clueless because you didn't bother to read up on your destination.
