Visa Exemption

Featured Replies

Hello all

I'm from Spain, we have 30 dd visa exemption - Thailand.

the Question is: between these 30 dd, can I go out of THAI   (for example on day) and return 1-2 weeks later? Or I have only single entry bw these 30 dd?

Thanks a lot!!

If you get a Re-Entry Permit, single for baht 1,000, you can depart then return, but you still keep your original permit to stay date of 30 days since your initial arrival.

You can leave and re-enter the country and you will get another 30 day visa exempt entry.

The only limit on doing visa exempt entries is that you can only do 2 of them per calendar year at land border crossings.

There should be no problem with the visa exempt entries as far as Thai immigration is concerned.

You should be aware that your airline, at check in, may want to see an onward flight out of Thailand when you are traveling without a visa, intending to enter visa exempt. One way of dealing with this is to buy a cheap "throw away" ticket to a neighboring country. An approach I have taken is

  • researching in advance the cheap ticket I will buy if necessary;
  • arriving at the airport early;
  • if the onward flight requirement is raised, talking to the airline supervisor assuring them that Thai immigration will not deny me entry, offering to sign an indemnity form if they wish; and finally
  • buying the onward "throw away" ticket if all else fails, and it is the only way to successfully check in.

Dear friends, Thx a lot

I will entry to THAI by bus.. some people tell me there are 30days exemption , other peopple tell me 15 days. Could you confirm these point?

I'm in Langkawi, Mlasia, And I'm checking the best option to enter  via south Thailand and remain for max time possible inThai without visa ()maybe crossing to Cambodia on 25-28 day... and return to thai by bus 2 weeks after.

could you recomend some tips fot get these max time without visa?

thx a lot again!

There is no longer a 15 day entry at land border crossings. That was rescinded in January of this year.

You can take a ferry from Langkawi to Satun Thailand.

See: http://langkawi-online.com/ferry-schedule-for-langkawi/

You can extend your 30 day visa exempt entry for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

As @ubonjoe informed you, all visa exempt entries are now 30 days (and you do not need to worry about onward flight tickets when entering by land). One warning: you are only allowed two visa exempt entries by land in any calendar year. Another note: if you want to stay longer than 30 days, you can go to an immigration office inside Thailand, and get an additional 30 days (once per entry) on payment of 1,900 baht.
