Public health official crushed by train in Chachoengsao

By The Nation

A female public health official was crushed to death when she fell from a passenger train after the brakes were slammed suddenly as it was approaching the Chachoengsao station on Friday evening.

A witness told police that Uthaiwan Chunnakul, 50, was standing at the door of the Bangkok-Kabin Buri train as it was approaching the station at a fast speed, but fell out when the train braked suddenly.

The witness, Krittapas Penboonprasrt, 22, said Uthaiwan fell on the platform and rolled on to the tracks under the wheels of the moving train.

The accident happened at 5pm. The train was scheduled to reach Chachoengsao station at 4.43pm.

Police said Uthaiwan worked as a Public Health specialist in the Lat Krabang district. She was travelling to her home in Chachoengsao’s Bang Kla district after work.

When a human torso is run over by the steel wheels of a moving train carriage it is not 'crushed' but cut into large pieces. Not a pretty sight......

RIP Uthaiwan Chunnakul. Condolences to family and friends.

a supposedly professional driver was surprised he/she was approaching their normal destination and slammed on the brakes ?

I'm pretty sure the doors are supposed to be closed until the train stops...but then again

One look at this picture of a typical Thai 3rd class train and you can see why it is possible to fall off.

People are always in too much of a hurry to get off and she was a victim of that. Some people ride the vestibule area of the carriage for miles while having a smoke.

Firstly RIP to the lady, would hope she didnt suffer. Now, you should know 'professional' is a term for special use only and under no circumstances is it to be used for most anyone employed to drive anything.
