December 24, 20178 yr Do they have any? Is there a place where the crowds gather? Do they have fireworks? Thanks.
December 24, 20178 yr Last year I was at Tapae Gate to see in the New Year. Hundreds of back packers and tourists almost piling on top of each other setting off their lanterns and balloons, then within seconds past midnight, most of the bars, massage parlours and restaurants began to close, shutters being pulled down by the score, leaving hundreds of tourists milling about wondering where to go next. A few minutes later they started to disperse and that was that. Better off to buy your own fireworks and drinks, invite a few friends round to your home and celebrate the New Year in without the need to pack it in at midnight.
December 24, 20178 yr The curfew for entertainment was recently mentioned on a thai website as midnight.
December 25, 20178 yr Typical killjoy authorities in Chiang Mai. However in saying that a few years ago it was downright dangerous to wander down Loi Kroh Rd. Fireworks galore were been fired off in every direction. The road was a mess of used fireworks in the morning. Zoe in Yellow is sure to have a big party night....until the fun police turn up.
December 25, 20178 yr River Market restaurant will have an excellent buffet, several good bands with music to get everyone up and dancing and fireworks -- all in a safe, not crowded environment.
December 25, 20178 yr Thapae Gate area is fun. And on New Year's Eve many bars stay open longer. Have fun!
