Toxic waste plant fire causes building closure

A waste-stabilising building within the compound of a factory for industrial and toxic waste disposal in Sa Kaew’s Watthana Nakhon district has been temporarily closed following a fire on Saturday.

The fire, which destroyed a backhoe and some building parts but caused no injuries, is under police investigation. Police initially suspected that the flames stemmed from a chemical reaction.

The facility is one of the country’s three industrial and toxic waste disposal plants.

Sa Kaew Governor Pornphot Penpas said the accidental fire must be strictly investigated according to the Factory Act 1992, and the Sa Kaew Industrial Office had ordered the temporary closure of the building.

Thailand needs experienced qualified inspectors, that can't be bought. Ain't going to happen in Thailand is it ?

Nah.  If they can't be bought, they can be shot...

It's that "silver or lead" incentive program.  Do what we want, you get silver.  Don't do what we want, you get lead.  Up to you...
