NEC reacts to Radio Free Asia broadcast

Featured Replies

The National Election Committee’s Press Reaction Team responded on Friday to a Khmer language radio transmission broadcast on Thursday, allegedly disseminating information designed to make the public lose confidence in the 2018 election. The PRT reminded that professional journalists should not write baseless information.

While they did not name the online foreign radio broadcasting in Khmer language, it was referring to Radio Free Asia. Radio Free Asia in Khmer language from Washington, D.C. indeed did a broadcast on Thursday.

“The NEC chairman said the committee will continue monitoring the election without the support of the European Union,” it said. “Some citizens were discouraged from checking the voters’ list due to the current political situation.” “Some people think that after the NEC divided the opposition seats, the national institution is just a tool following the party’s unconstitutional laws.”
