Not really poor people!

They have money to buy a ticket to BKK from Zimbabwe.

They have money to buy a ticket to Spain from BKK.

They have money to (over) stay in Thailand 6 months.

They have money to pay the overstay penalty.

They have money to buy a new ticket to Spain.

4 adults and 4 children.

I blame Ian Smith for most of the problems in Zimbabwe, but these people do not appear to have suffered much from Smith or Mugabe.... they must have been able to save at least 25.000 euro in one of the poorest countries in the world?

I grew up in Rhodesia. When the Bush War ended and Zimbabwe came into being all the building blocks were in place for a successful nation. ZANU led by Maoist Bob Mugabe introduced an ultra socialist agenda and that combined with the rampant corruption of the ruling party ruined the country.

From my simple knowledge, the situation in Zimbabwe has now changed and there is a new head of state . Therefore any fear of persecution is no longer valid even though few old faces are still in the new government, nonetheless it is a new page for that country.

I think their refugee application should be turned down and Thai immigration ought to send them back home.

Unless they have committed some big illegal act back home?

You might want to read up on the “new” leader and his leading role in human rights atrocities and the slaughter of tribal groups opposed to his party’s rule

Sounds like an ill thought out plan and they were trying to bypass immigration rules and find a back door into Europe.

They are obviously well-heeled financially bearing in mind their travel itinerary up to present including 5 months overstay. They then refused to return to their country of origin citing unrest, even though there was to unrest at that time they mention and there isn't any now.

When an application is made for asylum or refugee status to any UN body, their reasons for applying are initially taken at face value and recorded and written down as they tell it, until investigations have been carried out which can take months and years.

i suspect this ok and i am of the opinion they should be sent back to zimbabwe

Ah, suspect.

So, no actual evidence, eh...

i often have my own suspicions, expressing them has in the past got me suspended.

So I won’t view my opinion here.

I thought Zimbabwe was a democracy, so how are their lives in danger ? dodgy dealings in the underworld perhaps as they seem to have enough cash to travel about a lot.

Shows you know absolutely nothing about Zimbabwe. Best to keep your comments for subjects that you know something about.

You really need to research what has happened in Zimbabwe. It is even less democratic than Thailand.

It was a joke, but probably is faster than normal residency, and I commend you asking for the answer.

A joke?

Right...if it was a joke based on waiting for residency coming through, why the use of the word “Caucasian”?

Truth and accuracy never seem to get in the way of anything on this forum in the past.

Why worry about such trivial things now?

Would you not think more whites than any other skin color trying to stay here any way they can? The blacks are very little. Muslim is not a color.

I don’t think in terms of skin colour when talking about residency waiting times. Cannot fathom why any balanced person would.

Who mentioned faith?

Curious (or rather, defensive) you do.

I consider Muslim such as a race.. Your interpretation of balanced is not another’s, and in the end these black folk in no man’s land at the airport might just get what all of us long timers want so dearly, a free no have to see immigration every 90 days stay here card. And they may just have done it by short time holding out at the airport. I’d gladly go stay in no man’s land for a couple of months to enjoy the end result of residency here.

There are a lot of third-world countries that are democracies only on paper.

Your bizarre and ridiculous notions about Islam and race aside, nonsense.

You clearly have no idea what the situation is regarding this family and why they are stuck in the airport.

And what “left view” (whatever that means) would that be?

On what evidence do you base your “chancers” comment upon?

No one needs to pay them as, if you bothered to read the Ops, they have more than enough to buy multiple air tickets.

They may be chancers insofar as they tried to travel to Spain without visas but we still don;t know why they are fearful of travelling back to Zimbabwe.

Is it their colour that's bothering you?
