Crossing by car from mukdahan to savannakhet border crossing,, what car documents required?

Featured Replies

Been to savannakhet a few times but always left our car at the border, what documents would we require if we decided to bring the car this next visit, any additional documents other than the standard ownership documents can these be obtained at the border?

You need a passport for your car. You have to apply for it at your local department of land transport office.

Ok so we must get that done at our local office, we can’t get a car passport at the border,,,, ok pity as was thinking in heading off from Suphanburi 2nd or early on 3rd and having an overnight stopover somewhere along the way but I guess our local land transport office won’t be back from holidays till the 3rd,

I went to the Lao boarder with the car . Thailand said I needed a special doc for the car (passport)

I got the doc and two T stickers(at transport office).

I went again with the stickers and doc ,I was told we needed a letter from the owner of the car(Bai mop um nat)some kind of guaranty,I guess.

Waiting to go again with all of these in hand, then my GF's cousin said I need 1k for Lao car Insurance and 400bht for tax!!!!!

Does this all sound right? Will their be more surprises?
