Importing E-Bikes and or Batteries

Featured Replies

Does anyone have experience with importing E-Bikes ?  Questions like import duties, taxes ? I understand that bringing the E-Bike without the battery as travel luggage is possible and I guess not taxes if it's used before but the LION Batteries must be shipped with a freight plane.

Thanks for your info

I imported my Li-ion batteries easily with Kerry Logistics. They have branches almost all over the world in countries where e-bikes are sold. I declared them as cryptical "used power enhancer" to avoid the word "batteries". No questions, no problems, received them after 2 weeks without damage.

There's a reason for the shipping controls. Do you have any regard for crew or passenger safety?

The personal risk to you is less:

"Shippers and freight forwarders are required by law to ensure that the dangerous goods they consign are properly classified, packed, marked, labelled and declared. Persons consigning misdeclared, undeclared or forbidden dangerous goods are liable to a maximum fine of $250,000 and imprisonment for 2 years."
