Police admit Victoria’s suspects may have fled Thailand

The de-facto owners of Victoria’s: The Secret Forever, which allegedly engaged in human trafficking and prostitution, might have already fled the country, Deputy National Police Commissioner Pol Lt-General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said on Tuesday.

Kampol Weerathepsuporn, 61 and his wife, Nipa Weerathepsuporn, 68, have not been sighted in Thailand since arrest warrants for them were issued on January 19.

Police had previously maintained that immigration records suggested the couple was still in the country.

However, Srivara said on Tuesday the couple might have sneaked out of the country at unofficial border crossings.

“But even without their arrest, we believe there is enough evidence to pursue the case,” he said.

Several suspects are already in detention, including Kampol’s younger sister, who owned Victoria’s on paper.

Srivara said the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) and Revenue Department would investigate the financial transactions of Sasitorn, other people involved in the issue and related entertainment venues for the past 10 years.

“We will also investigate the allegation that Victoria’s was linked to an international human-trafficking ring,” he said.

He added that Victoria’s and Copa Cabana massage parlours would also face charges of violating environmental laws after tests revealed the venues might have illegally tapped groundwater.

Given how much the police trumpet anything that might be evidence  is this any surprise?

Most police spokespeople in other countries use a variation of the phrase "we are continuing our enquiries and following a number of leads." This however does not get their name and picture in the paper, so will not be in the training manual.

Someone should point out to him the difficulty of putting people in prison, when you are unable to actually find them though. As many have shown, (Thaksin, Yingluck, "Boss", The Monk etc.), skipping town here appears quite simple. Getting them back, even when convicted seems somewhat tougher.

They should follow the money trail as it may lead to others who have not fled.

If the police and related ministries really wanted them back, they could get them back very easily, particularly with the crimes they are talking about in this case. This guy Kampol has obviously pissed someone off, as other online reports have photos of him with other very powerful people.

Are we to assume if the suspects have fled the scene country, in a couple of months a policeman might be charged with assisting them to freedom exile, the same as Yingluck?

I am always amazed anew how easy it is for locals of certain influence to abscond across the border.

Surprised I am not, though. They get pretty much forewarning, with the police being utterly incapable of keeping their mouths shut, desperate to get their ego-stroking photo op; meanwhile it takes days if not weeks to even issue an arrest warrant.

Compare that to the average pesky nogoodnik foreigner: They are immediately pounced upon, their passport is confiscated and most likely they wander behind bars without a formal arrest warrant.

There is likely a good reason why they are slow to act.

Nobody wants to arrest his buddies, nobody dares to arrest his superiors...:whistling:

Perhaps they got their guide or escorts out of the country from some of the same officials who supposedly were listed in their "special customers" book. That list would be a good place to start checking...

Another massage parlour,to add to the Governments portfolio.

They will have been given a helping hand to leave for sure as people of much higher status have been involved in this 'business' .   In such situations they either leave or are erased !

As usual, crooks here are always one step ahead of the cops.

Good guys in.  Bad guys out.

And there are some really nice things to see on the way out as you avoid arrest.

Yep! The policy surely works. It´s great to now that something gets implemented the right way.

AMLO.... Now there is a fun organisation. AMLO is of course the police in another guise. Apparently they have no powers of investigation that is they cant force anybody to make a statement and even if they do AMLO  have no powers to check the validity of the statement. At least that's what they told me in my case regarding the money laundering by a major bank in stealing a property belonging to me.

No, they have not fled.

They have leisurely made their way to a border crossing while sampling roadside delicacies along the way. Probably staying in some resorts to use the wifi to transfer funds out of Thailand as pre-designed. Following the RTP's publishings on arrest warrants and time tables provided them with enough leeway to play a few rounds of golf as they got closer to their destination.

Clever cops......just make a public statement which allows the influential and connected whose names may have been recorded, to walk free and no more problems, case closed!

I thought they always went along side by side..........:whistling:

Do the authorities now void the culprit’s passports? It should be done immediately in such cases.

Rumoured to be in London opening a massage parlour called Yinglucks Secret

Not sure if he fled prosecution or fled for his own safety.

I am sure his partners would not want him naming them.
