rooster59
Cold spell poses heath threat with increased level of particulate matter in Bangkok The looming cold spell has brought relief to Bangkokians from the heat but, at the same time, posed a health hazard from the accumulation of particulate in the atmosphere. Pollution Control Department chief Mrs Sunee Piyaphanpong explained on Friday (Feb 2) that the cold weather in Bangkok coupled with humidity led to the accumulation of particulate matter in the air which would pose a health threat to risk groups such as people with heart problem or respiratory problem if the amount of particulate matter, including PM10 and PM2.5 was above safety standard. Report of air quality in Bangkok on Friday at 3 pm showed the amount of PM10, or particulate matter smaller than 10 microns, was within the safe level (100 microgrammes/cubic metre) at all monitoring stations while the amount of PM2.5 particulate was measured at between 33-54 microgrammes/cubic metre which was well within the 50 microgrammes/cubic metre safety standard. SoilSpoil
Propaganda BS (PBS), the Broadcaster you can trust. Both Aqicn and Berkely had Bangkok in the orange and red scales. Unhealthy and not within the safety zone. With an eye on the weather forecast and brown clouds hanging over China and Thailands Central Plane, we're about to get choked in the coming week. Nationwide.
Kaoboi Bebobp
Propaganda BS. Nice one. Got to love this paragraph: Quote "To prevent the air quality from getting worse, the department has sought cooperation from all stakeholders to refrain from burning garbage, to reduce emissions and to contain dust particles at construction sites." I'm sure all the stakeholders who have been anxiously awaiting this report give a rat's *ss. Right now, the Air Quality Index for Bangkok is an "unhealthy" 163. Jonmarleesco
'... would pose a health threat ... if the amount of particulate matter, including PM10 and PM2.5 was above safety standard.' Safe to say it will be. But I associate humidity with the hot weather, not the cold.

Beats56
It's not just Bangkok. .Rayong too. Every thing gets so damm dirty. Got to clean the windows once a month. With the louvers in the kitchen everything gets dirty that's hanging on the walls. Feel like buying a dishwasher to give everything a nice hot wash. Wife has her shoes outside on a shelf and got a plastic covering on it and it's getting black from the air. Neverending job here to keep things clean
